Welcome to 2022 uMu! It's time to kick this year off with our first Livestream of the year!  ICYMI January is National Mentoring Month! This year the Air Force and Space Force's theme is, "Everybody Wins With Mentoring!" uMu wanted to follow suit with a critical level of communication with mentorship, transparency! It's no secret our next generation puts a high value on openness because it's authentic, shows vulnerability, and builds trust! Our HotWash Series allows our team to unpack the journey of our leaders and have a transparent and vulnerable conversation! This week we had the honor of unpacking the journey of our Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, JoAnne S. Bass! Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force JoAnne S. Bass represents the highest enlisted level of leadership. As such, it provides direction for the enlisted force and represents their interests, as appropriate, to the American public and those in all levels of government. She serves as the personal adviser to the Chief of Staff and the Secretary of the Air Force on all issues regarding the welfare, readiness, morale, and proper utilization and progress of more than 600,000 Total Force Airmen. Chief Bass is the 19th Chief Master Sergeant appointed to the highest noncommissioned officer position!  But we wanted to know the woman behind the chevrons! The person who was an Army dependent before enlisting in 1993! What experiences shaped her into the phenomenal leader we see today? What were some of her struggles and memorable moments? Of course, our HotWash Series was the perfect approach for this type of mentorship!  If you've ever been part of an event, exercise, or inspection in the Air Force, you should be familiar with the term 🔥 HOTWASH 🚿. The intent of a HOTWASH session is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the response to a given event, which then leads to another governmental phase known as "lessons learned."  So tune in as we hear from CMSAF JoAnne Bass and see: 🔥What worked 👍 🔥What didn't work 👎 and lessons learned! You don't want to miss this🔥 HOTWASH 🚿  CMSAF Bass the uMu team does not take lightly the opportunity you gave us with our Livestream! Hello, uMu, and Welcome our last HotWash of the Year!  The primary purpose of a "HotWash" session is to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the response to a given event, which then leads to another governmental phase known as "lessons learned." We take this concept and have unique discussions with some very influential leaders! Today we unpack the journey of CMSgt N. Mike Perry, a.k.a. Diamond 1! CMSgt Perry is the Air Force First Sergeant Special Duty Manager. In this role, Chief Perry writes the policy for our First Sergeants and has the vital responsibility of advising CMSAF Bass on our Force's Culture, Health, Morale, and Readiness! Chief Perry hails way from Hammond, Louisiana and entered the Air Force in September 1992. He began his military career as an Inventory Management Specialist and later retrained into the Mental Health career field. Chief Perry has served in a variety of leadership positions at the Squadron, Group, MAJCOM and levels. His duties have included tours as a First Sergeant, Group Superintendent, and MAJCOM Functional Manager. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 79th Medical Wing.  uMu we wanted to get to know the man behind the chevrons and diamond! There are countless interviews with our Senior Leaders Q and A style on our current events and upcoming changes.  We wanted to hear something completely different from our Diamond 1!  We wanted to know from Chief Perry what experiences shaped him into the leader we see today? How did he overcome hardships while balancing mission, family, and team?  These intimate questions may be intrusive to some leaders, but not Diamond 1!  Why?  Chief Perry understood the assignment because he knows the importance of transparency and connecting with the next generation of leaders!  uMu what a way for us to end this year! Tune in and hear from Chief Perry:  🔥What worked 👍  🔥What didn't work 👎  🔥Lessons learned Thank you so much, Diamond 1! Our conversation was indeed an honor, and we thank you for having a legacy we are all proud of!
