Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with York head coach Brandon Childs. The first DIII coach Foy has brought on for this series (though Dan Kaplan has previously spoken to Amherst's Sean Woods and Dickinson's Dave Webster on the topic), Childs says he wears four hats in the recruiting space: college coach, club coach, dad and fan. They hit on all four topics, illustrating not just what makes Division III distinct from DI, but his broarder views on the topic.

In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with St. John's head coach Justin Turri. Entering his fourth year in Queens, Turri talks about what it's like to be so close to the biggest city in the United States, being part of a basketball rich department, how his own recruitment taught him about recruiting, what it's like to work with his brother and much more.
On the heels of bringing on former Penn head coach Micke Murphy as a strategic advisor, IL's Terry Foy talks to him and Harlem Lacrosse CEO Mike Levin about the latest with the organization, especially the need to increase its capacity for coaching coaches and helping place future college lacrosse players — two things Murphy is uniquely skilled to aid.
Chris Rosenthall and Kevin Brown welcome original Atlas player and current assistant coach/assistant GM Steven Brooks to the show to discuss getting over the hump and winning New York's first championship. From the disappointing first round exits to the crushing semifinal defeats to now champions, there is no better guest to discuss the Atlas rise to the top of the mountaintop than the man who had a say in drafting and constructing every singe player on the title-winning roster that has been there for it all. Brooks helps Rosie and Kevin relive the 2025 epic championship clash in all of its glory with insights on the hectic dramatic final minute, a hot offensive start, and some key words from Xander Dickson that stuck with him. Whether it's the story behind his Carolina kicks or getting some behind the scenes on the guys who celebrated hardest and danced the most, this is a must-listen podcast for all Atlas/PLL fans. From there, Rosie and Kevin put a bow on the seventh PLL season, sizing up how epic the title game ranks, how an Outlaws-Atlas Finals rivalry could be special for years to come, and start looking ahead to key storylines to look forward to this offseason.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Le Moyne head coach Dan Sheehan. Entering year three of the athletic department's transition to Division I, Sheehan discusses what the differences are between recruiting to a "Roman numeral," what it's like to have six trophies in his office, how he's given 99% of campus tours to lacrosse recruits over the last near-three decades, what he learned going through the recruiting process as a father and more.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Loyola head coach Charley Toomey. Returning to his alma mater, this is a unique conversation given Foy has known Toomey longer than any other college coach (aside from Greyhound assistant Matt Dwan, who he met at the same time). As a result, they chart the evolution of the Greyhounds' recruiting over the last 20 years, from how they built the 2012 NCAA champion team to how building a stadium and joining the Patriot League changed their fortunes. From landing Pat Spencer to how the end of early recruiting impacted their ability to find diamonds in the rough. And from how opting out and the arrival of alum Justin Ward as offensive coordinator seem to be impacting things going forward.
IL's Chris Rosenthall and Kevin Brown welcome on a handful of guests during the league's championship media day to get their thoughts on the title game tilt between the New York Atlas and Denver Outlaws. For New York, head coach Mike Pressler, defenseman Gavin Adler, attackman Jeff Teat, and midfielders Reid Bowering plus rookies Hugh Kelleher and Matt Traynor join the show to answer a range of compelling and comedic questions. For Denver, a Terrapin theme emerged with veteran defenseman Jesse Bernhardt, rookie goalie Logan McNaney, middie Jonathan Donville before SSDM of the Year Ryan Terefenko and former Richmond great Dalton Young rounded things out.

The conversation focuses on how to build culture through recruiting, and Tambroni traces his experience from Cornell to State College, where the project has been more intentional. He tooks about finding a balance between giving his players the opportunity to take advantage of everything Penn State has to offer while pursuing their goals on the field. He dives into the new realities of big-time college sports, the academic challenges and benefits of being a Nittany Lion and how the trends of the last three years have developed.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Siena head coach Liam Gleason. The conversation revolves around time and space: how geography — specifically Long Island, Albany and Syracuse/Rochester — and chronology — specifically Sept. 1, balancing practices and visits, November recruiting and junior year development — play into Gleason's overall philosophy.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Dartmouth head coach Sean Kirwan. Entering his third recruiting cycle leading the Big Green, Kirwan talks about the relationship between recruiting and developing star players — diving deep into how that unfolded with Connor Shellenberger when he was an assistant at Virginia — and the role that watching high school film has played in his evaluation methods.
Chris Rosenthall and Kevin Brown welcome veteran close defenseman Michael Manley to the show to discuss his Outlaws giving him a fourth chance at a professional championship. Manley is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year back in the MLL days playing for Tim Soudan for the Rattlers (he actually started playing for Soudan at the club level before he got to Duke, where he won a NCAA title in 2010), and made it to three title games in 2014, 2015 and 2018. Manley discussed how he originally thought about retiring two years ago before Soudan drafted Brennan O'Neill and traded for Pat Kavanagh, re-energizing his efforts these past couple seasons. Rosie and Kevin also recapped the semifinal victories for the New York Atlas against the Waterdogs and Denver against California, setting the stage for what promises to be an epic clash in the title game on Sept. 14.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Fairfield head coach Andrew Baxter. Entering year seven as the Stags' head coach, Baxter is coming off of his best season yet and had arguably built his best recruiting class with the ’26s. But make no mistake — he didn't recruit that group on the back of his team's on-field success; they were verballed before the season started. It suggests a coach who's gotten comfortable in his surroundings.
Chris Rosenthall and Kevin Brown recap a thrilling PLL Quarterfinal as the Philadelphia Waterdogs and California Redwoods advanced with 14-12 wins over Maryland and Carolina, respectively. From Philly's attack trio doing all the scoring to which playoff defense  we trust more between the Waterdogs and the Atlas, only one thing is for certain for the East : make sure you're at your seat (either the sofa or at Subaru Park) early to catch all the scoring. Rosie and Kevin then recap how the Redwoods got it done against the Chaos and welcome on rookie defenseman Cole Kastner to talk about being a California native playing for his state team, playing with and against former ACC foes and how this Redwoods squad is playing their best lacrosse at the right time. Rosie and Kevin wrap up with some keys to victory for each semifinalist and some predictions for the action set for Labor Day Monday.

In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Mercer head coach Ryan Danehy. With a career as an assistant that included stops in the Big Ten, Ivy and Patriot Leagues and nearly two years as the national director for one of the sport's biggest high school club networks, Danehy has a wealth of perspectives as he's now in year three as a head coach in the ASUN. As a result, Danehy and Foy cover a wave of topics, probably mostly focused on the role geography plays in his strategy, but also touching on things like NIL and the future of DI lacrosse.
Chris Rosenthall and Kevin Brown recap the 2025 PLL regular season with their reactions to award nominations and provide some season superlatives before  a fun interview with leading points-scorer and New York Atlas' MVP candidate Connor Shellenberger. The second-year pro explains the keys to increasing his production from his rookie season, playing with Xander Dickson and reigning MVP Jeff Teat, and how the Atlas are looking to play their best in the postseason. Shellenberger also takes us through his lacrosse origin story, his evolution as a player, returning to Virginia as an assistant coach, how he's keeping busy doing some marketing this week for the PLL ahead of next week's semifinals, and what he expects to see between the Philadelphia Waterdogs vs. Maryland Whipsnakes in the Quarterfinal. Rosie and Brown also provide their Season Superlatives for the 2025 PLL regular season, from best team and best coach to the best plays and games, the two also mix in the most important categories like best quotes and best piece of equipment, so be sure to check out the full episode to hear the hilarious nominees.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Richmond head coach Dan Chemotti. The only coach in program history, Chemotti has adjusted to leveling up the Spiders' targeted prospects in the wake of newfound heights, but what will it be like recruiting off the back of the program's first NCAA Tournament win? And what about doing so in the post-House Settlement landscape? As a sidebar, Chemotti led the men's coaches association committee that expanded the mid-summer dead period in 2026 and beyond, and he details what went into that process and outcome.
Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, starting year three with Duke head coach John Danowski. One of the most experienced coaches still at it, Danowski traces his experience from being at grad assistant with Columbia's football team to C.W. Post to Hofstra and now to Duke, where he and his staff routinely rack up No. 1 recruiting classes. How does he do it? And how has it evolved. All that and more.
Kevin Brown and Chris Rosenthall welcome PLL beat reporter Phil Shore to discuss everything California Redwoods, one of three teams (along with the Waterdogs and Whipsnakes) to secure a playoff spot in final week of the regular season. From coach Anthony Kelly building a foundation based on patience for resurgent seasons for Dylan Molloy or first-year starting goalie Chayse Ierlan to Chris Kavanagh's importance as the primary ball-carrier, Shore helps dissect how the 'Woods won their last three games of the season en route to clinching.  Shore stays on to discuss how the rest of the weekend shook out, with the Boston Cannons losing both home games and missing the playoffs, the Atlas winning the highest scoring game ever and the Whips running away from Boston. Come for the elite Redwoods season-long analysis, stay to figure out if CJ Kirst is (not) actually the problem for Philly.
