ホストファミリーをしている友達（ともだち）の家（いえ）に遊（あそ）びに行（い）ってきました。友達の家に来（き）ている、その留学生（りゅうがくせい）はなんとメルボルン出身（しゅっしん）！！私（わたし）もとらもメルボルン在住（ざいじゅう）経験（けいけん）があるので、メルボルンの話（はなし）で盛（も）り上（あ）がりました。なんて偶然（ぐうぜん）！実（じつ）は世界（せかい）って狭（せま）いですね！
友達の住（す）んでいる町（まち）には、私たちは行（い）ったことがなく、どんな場所（ばしょ）なのかも知（し）らなかったのですが、のんびりして素敵（すてき）なところでした。なにより、私たちの大好物（だいこうぶつ）、うなぎが美味（おい）しくて安（やす）いことで有名（ゆうめい）です。友達が炭（すみ）で焼（や）いてくれたうなぎが美味しくて感動（かんどう）した話、もちろんメルボルンの話、それから海産物（かいさんぶつ）の別名（べつめい）についてなども話しました。
Tora and I visited my friend who is hosting an exchange student. Surprisingly, the student is from Melbourne! What a coincidence! It really shows how small the world can be. Since both Tora and I have lived in Melbourne, we had a great time reminiscing about both Melbourne and Japan. Interestingly, this was our first visit to my friend's town, despite it being in the same prefecture as ours. The town was a quiet and lovely place. Most notably, it's famous for our favorite seafood, eel! My friend purchased some at a seafood market and grilled them over charcoal for us. It was the best eel we've ever had! We talked about our fantastic experience with the fresh eel and our memories of Melbourne, and we also discussed the nicknames of various seafoods.

12月（がつ）の半（なか）ばから1週間（しゅうかん）、北海道（ほっかいどう）にスノーボードに行（い）ってきました。前回（ぜんかい）北海道（ほっかいどう）に行（い）った時（とき）は4年（ねん）前（まえ）、コロナでまだ日本（にほん）に観光客（かんこうきゃく）が戻（もど）ってきていない時（とき）だったのですが、今回（こんかい）は観光客（かんこうきゃく）だらけで全（まった）く違（ちが）う風景（ふうけい）が広（ひろ）がっていました。笑笑もはや冬（ふゆ）の北海道（ほっかいどう）は日本（にほん）じゃない。私（わたし）たち日本人（にほんじん）が外国人（がいこくじん）だったと言（い）っても過言（かごん）ではありません。そんなあまりの外国人（がいこくじん）の多（おお）さにちょっと困惑（こんわく）したエピソードを紹介（しょうかい）しています。We went snowboarding in Hokkaido for a week in mid-December.The last time we visited Hokkaido was four years ago, when COVID was still keeping tourists away from Japan.This time, though, it was packed with tourists, and the scenery felt completely different. LOLHonestly, winter in Hokkaido doesn’t even feel like Japan anymore.It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that we Japanese felt like foreigners ourselves.In this episode, we share a few moments where the sheer number of foreign visitors honestly caught us off guard.

日本語（にほんご）は「です・ます」の丁寧形（ていねいけい）以外（いがい）にも会話（かいわ）の普通形（ふつうけい）、ビジネスで使（つか）う尊敬語（そんけいご）など大体（だいたい）大（おお）きく分（わ）けて３つのスタイルがあり、勉強（べんきょう）しているみなさんにとっては本当（ほんとう）に難（むずか）しい言語（げんご）だと思（おも）います。今回（こんかい）、またオーストラリアの高校生（こうこうせい）の使（つか）っている教科書（きょうかしょ）から、普通形（ふつうけい）から敬語（けいご）、敬語（けいご）から普通形（ふつうけい）にする、というドリルがあったので、ネイティブがやるとどうなるかやってみました。特（とく）に普通形（ふつうけい）に関（かん）しては、仲（なか）のいい友達（ともだち）と話（はな）すトーンでやると方言（ほうげん）が出（で）てしまい、メチャクチャになってしまいましたが、愛知（あいち）の人（ひと）はこんな話（はな）し方（かた）をするんだ、と参考（さんこう）にしてください。笑Japanese has roughly three major styles: the polite desu/masu form, the casual form used in conversation, and honorific language used in business. For learners, it's truly a difficult language to master.This time, I found a drill in a Japanese textbook used by Australian high school students, where you convert from the casual form to the honorific form and vice versa. I was surprised at how different the voting system is compared to Japan. So, I decided to research how elections are held around the world. オーストラリア（おーすとらりあ）の高校生（こうこうせい）が使（つか）っている日本語（にほんご）のテキストの中（なか）に、日本（にほん）の漫画（まんが）文化（ぶんか）を紹介（しょうかい）する読（よ）み物（もの）があったので読（よ）んでみました。その教科書（きょうかしょ）は20年以上（にじゅうねんいじょう）前（まえ）に作（つく）られていて、一番（いちばん）最近（さいきん）改訂（かいてい）されているものでも10年前（じゅうねんまえ）なのでかなり古（ふる）い情報（じょうほう）ですが、それでも漫画（まんが）の発行部数（はっこうぶすう）や「少年（しょうねん）ジャンプ」のことなど興味深（きょうみぶか）い内容（ないよう）が書（か）いてありました。今（いま）はもっと発行（はっこう）されているし、媒体（ばいたい）も変（か）わってきていますが、今（いま）の現状（げんじょう）と比較（ひかく）しながら、日本（にほん）の漫画（まんが）文化（ぶんか）について話（はな）しました。I read an article in a Japanese textbook used by Australian high school students that introduces Japanese manga culture. This textbook was created over 20 years ago, and even the most recent revision was made 10 years ago, so it contains quite old information. However, it still included interesting content about the circulation numbers of manga and "Shonen Jump."
