Rebekah Gullo, influencer and blogger, joins us on the podcast to talk about her experience with breast implant illness. After having kids, Rebekah always planned to have what seemed like an increasingly normalized, "mommy makeover". After hearing about the tummy tuck procedure she decided against it but, went ahead with the breast augmentation. She had more friends with breast implants than without and did not know of anyone with adverse effects. Just months after her breast augmentation, Rebekah started developing debilitating symptoms that seemed to have no root cause. In this vulnerable conversation, we dive into her health decline, her breast implant illness discovery and the steps she took to get them out. Rebekah said, "It is still a healing process with myself that I am on everyday. The journey has completely changed me mentally. I’m still very happy that I made the decision to take them out and will never put them back in. I know too much now to think implants are no big deal. THEY AREN’T! Do your research!" Functional medicine quite literally has changed our lives! On this episode we dig into the functional medicine space. What is Functional medicine? While conventional medicine diagnoses and treats what’s above the surface — symptoms and disease — functional medicine also attends to what’s below the surface, at the root of the disease — environmental and lifestyle factors, including sleep and relaxation, physical activity (exercise), nutrition, stress, relationships, clean air and water, and so forth. We discuss our journey to and through functional medicine, working with biological dentists, natural healing methods, "trying everything" and fixing the root cause, not just the symptoms. We are so excited to start this podcast. We have been wanting to do this for a really long time. So if you guys have followed the previous podcast, Actually I Can, It was based more toward business and just kind of like inspirational stories of people. trying to figure out how they can overcome something. So we're gonna kind of follow that vein a little bit, but we want to bring in more of a lifestyle outlook, things that are going on in the world, things that we're really passionate about. if you don't know us... Well, you probably don't know us. There's only one episode that we did on the other podcast, which was all about the Enneagram. So we are very much into the Enneagram and all of those things, but I would say we're both very into personal betterment, Health, wellness...and that's definitely been a growth process of learning, which I think it always is. We have things to share with people that when people hear it come out of our mouths, they're like, no, I never knew that. How do you know that? Where did you figure that out? You know, whether it has to do with health and wellness or, you know, current events, things going on in the world. We'll talk about some controversial things on here, like vaccines, the world shutting down, what that looked like for us. We'll be getting some interviews from some health experts, business owners, farmers & even homeschool mamas. We want this podcast to be engaging. We don't want to just talk at you and give you lots of information. We wanna give you information, but we also want to know what you wanna hear, what you wanna talk about, what's interesting to you as an audience. In this episode of Actually I Can we are busting the myth that you can have it all… Well at least all at once. In this day and age we all think we have to do it all, be it all, have it all… even if we don’t really care about it all. It seems like you’re labeled a bad mom if your kids don’t get gourmet, vegan, organic dinners cooked for them every night, or you can’t volunteer for every school committee under the sun but, The truth is, we only have so much time and energy in our day, week and year and we really got to start identifying where we want to spend it. Not everything, commitment, plan or person is as important as something else. In this episode we talk about how to identify the most important tasks and places to spend our time and energy and how to either delegate, or find room in your budget to start getting some of the hefty “to -dos” that you don’t really want to do off your plate. In this episode I introduce my “bound two“ and “bound four“ lists and walk you through how to set up both. There will always be things we are “bound to” that we cannot change but, we also have goals and dreams that we are “bound for” that we need to find a way to work into our lives in order to feel like we are accomplishing our purpose. And then, there are things that we feel like we’re bound to that maybe we need to let go of and things that we think we are bound for that don’t fit within our season of life. So, buckle up, grab a couple sheets of paper and some color-coded pens and get ready to map out your most purposeful, peaceful year yet. Today on the podcast we're talking about all things health, the mind, body, spirit connection and why it’s so important to focus on all three. We’re also talking about how to start creating “to be" lists and stop creating “to do“ lists. To do lists are great and they have a place, but when we’re talking about goals or New Year’s resolutions, it’s much better to craft an image or a vision of who you want to be or become instead of what you want to do or accomplish. We also go a little deep with scientific studies on our physical health and I dip my pinky toe into my thoughts surrounding the pandemic… That’s right I’m going there. OK, so the last episode was a skimming the surface of the Enneagram. We talked about what it is and dove into the nine different types. In this episode we go much deeper. We talk about the different centers: gut, heart and brain. We also talk about what wings are and how you determine what your wing might be. We will also discuss where your number goes in growth and in stress and what the different levels of development look like. This is a long episode… Almost an hour 🤪 but I promise you… if you’re interested in this personality typing system, or if you’ve got a good understanding of what type you might be and you want to go deeper and learn more about yourself and how to better communicate with others in the way they show up in the world, this is the episode for you. Hey Loves, In this episode we dive into The Enneagram!  The enneagram of personality is a system for seeing the motivation behind human behavior. It helps us learn our values, desires, and motivations—and how that informs our actions and reactions. For instance, knowing the enneagram personality types can help with social anxiety and bottled up emotions. In this episode, you will learn more about each of the 9 personality types on the enneagram diagram, how to identify yours, and why getting to know yourself (and others!) in this way can enhance your life and relationships. This is it, This is the episode you all have been asking me for! You may have reinvented your self or changed your mindset many times in your life.  I had to start at the core with my identity.  In this episode we will discuss how my identity as a child and young adult was mostly covered in shame.  I first felt shame for reasons beyond my control, an early bloomer who did not fit in...literally, and later as a result of trauma and repeated unhealthy patterns.  For me, my identity did not become healthy until I realized that God had created me to be ALL THAT I AM and that he called it perfect. It took time, therapy, prayer and a true understanding of my purpose to truly grasp who I am and how I am called to show up in this world.  Once I did though, I realized that I can ACTUALLY, overcome anything and do just about whatever I put my mind to because I was created to! I hope that through listening to my story, It will help you to realize JUST HOW MIRACULOUS it is that you are here, that who you are is so worthy and valuable, that you belong here and that you have a massive purpose to walk out and a legacy to leave.  Make sure to subscribe for more chats like this and share it with someone you think could benefit or, SHARE it to your feed if you think your friends would love to listen! Hello Hello, welcome this is the actually I can podcast and I'm your host Lauren Whittington. Let me ask you an important question. Do you know powerful you are? Do you know that the energy and power you think you need to change your life is already within you? You might be thinking okay, well you're crazy and you don't know me but do this for me. Think of all the things you've done and overcome in your life, everything you've lived through the highs and the lows. Think of the really hard things, the deep dark pits that you've had to scratch and claw and climb your way out of and then know this, you did that. You're here. You're alive. You're overcoming and doing hard things every day and you're gonna continue to do so. So why do so many of us let these I can't stories play on a loop in our brain over and over again. Things like I can't wake up an hour earlier and incorporate fitness into my life. I'm too busy and too tired. Or, I can't start writing a book. I'm not qualified. I can't quit my corporate job is 15 years m. It’s sucking the life out of me, But it's so safe.  Or even, I can't find love after 30 That doesn't happen for people like me. All of these things have happened to and will continue to happen to people just like you. Listen, I'm a corporate burnout turned serial mom-preneur that lived a good part of my life for other people believing that I couldn’t in relationships, business, creative outlets, life in general. I've worked through some pretty tough stuff in my life that we'll unpack later on in other episodes. But the most pivotal thing that I learned after I had to climb back up the valley several times is that I survived and always will. And then I'll come back stronger and smarter every time. And the fact that I actually can, set up the last half of my life for growth, joy, success, and fulfillment in all areas and I want to help you get there because life's too short to live it tired, boring and small. This podcast is about ditching the idea that the world, our past, or even ourselves feed us that we can't or we could never and really believing that we can. Whether it's leaving the job you hate, leaving the city to homestead in the country, leaving an abusive relationship becoming an entrepreneur or selling furniture on Etsy, We actually can and I, along with some of my friends will be sharing how we made the shift in our lives and how you can too. Once a week you can expect to hear me share tangible ways that you can flip the I could never script and thrive in your life's purpose, fully believing that you can. I'll be bringing on guests, both friends and experts who pivoted from the run of the mill, punch the clock, unsettled life and stepped into their outside the box, joy filled purpose. I started this podcast because I know how exhausting and defeating it is to be insecure and unfulfilled, too afraid to ask for what you want or unsure about how to go get it and I want to shine light on how I found freedom from that life and purpose in the pursuit of it. I hope you learn how to access the power strength and grit that's already within you and use it to move you into the next higher level of your life. And the other stuff that'll get you there is at your fingertips, in your earbuds, online and mostly free. So tune in every week wherever you get your podcasts and share it with a friend who needs to jump off the I could never hamster wheel with you. We're gonna laugh, learn, grow, cry, get real and run wild toward the life that's waiting for us. Because no matter how many times you've heard or believed that you could never or you can't. I'm here to tell you that actually, you can't. Let's go!
