Getting clients results is the name of the game as practitioners. But we all have that one client that we just could not figure out. Maybe their body just didn't respond to protocols. Or it took much longer for it to. There are 4 different things you want to look at when doing a nutritional physical with your client/patient. First is subjective. What is your client feeling? Next objectively. This is looking at your client for visible signs or symptoms. As you progress, you are looking at deeper testing tools. And eventually running labs. This gives greater ability to solve more problems. You may be surprised at the many different symptoms that show with vitamin deficiencies.   In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan speaks with Dr. Ken Kinakin about how and why to do a NUTRITIONAL PHYSICAL with your clients...and how it's a vital part of any clients fitness journey.IG- @swis_drkenkinakinwww.drkenkinakin.com   This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? There comes a point in every practitioners career, where you realize that more needs to be focused on with your client/patient than just nutrition, supplements and training. Developing as a coach is about more than just knowledge of your craft. It's also about guiding people to their goals. So understanding what that takes can make all the difference in your business and your clients life. Enter Shadow Work! What is it? Many might say it's focusing on the parts of you that would normally be considered unfavorable. But it is actually a 5 STEP process to unpack limiting beliefs and other patterns that keep you stuck in life ( and in body composition) But as practitioners I always say, before you do things with clients... you need to try it first! This means looking inward and setting boundaries. What you may notice is holding on to less emotional weight, which can lead to less physical weight.  In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan speaks with Stephanie Sibbio ( certified holistic nutritionist, kinesiologist) about Shadow Work...and how its a vital part of any clients fitness journey.IG- @glowingmamafitwww.glowingmama.com   This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? What are Peptides?

What are Peptides?

2025-06-3051:41

There is always a way. Something my parents taught me. I remember the first time I read about peptides. I had been struggling with a soft tissue injury and treatment wasn't helping. I read about a magical substance to drastically improve healing. Enter peptides. :What are they? A compound made of at least 2 amino acids linked together. Peptides exude different things in the body. Some of them like BPC-157 can repair not even tendons, muscle, teeth or bone. But also intestines. BPC-157 is stable in human gastric juice and helps repair both the upper and lower GI tract. This can be taken orally, intramuscularly or sub cutaneous. LL-37 is an anti-microbial peptide that can improve gut recovery from microbe overgrowth. There are even peptides like Semax that can help with hours of focus and concentration. Without disrupting sleep like caffeine or affecting the nervous system negatively. Peptides have an amazing specificity for its target, with a short half life. Meaning very little organ or tissue build and side effects.   In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan talks with Dr. Calvin Ng about peptides. How they are important ways to help your clients/patients repair and improve health challenges.IG- @drcalvinng   This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? I was told by one of my greatest mentors Charles Poliquin, that if you learn more, you earn more. I never forgot that. So I have always read books, that set me apart from everyone else. Developing as a coach is about more than just knowledge of your craft. It's also about guiding people to their goals. So understanding what that takes can make all the difference in your business and your clients life. Many times we gravitate so reads that we are comfy with. Books that are in a direction we always go in. But that isn't how you evolve. Reading about practices you didn't even know were out there takes courage. But can upgrade your toolbox for that one client who needs you. I shared books that shifted my focus has a human being first and a coach second. These books also made me a better person. And I firmly believe you can't lead anyone where you haven't gone.  In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan talks about the various books that shifted his journey each time..and helped get him where he is today!IG- @transformationmentorship This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner?Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
It's been said that 30 year old men today have testosterone levels of their grandfathers from the 1970s. I am not sure how accurate that is. But definitely more men are suffering from less than ideal levels of testosterone. This can show up as your male clients feeling unmotivated, chronically tired, unable to lose body fat. Especially in the pec and tricep region. Low sex drive and serious mood shifts. But why not just hop on TRT. With more and more companies popping up that assess and then deliver to your door. There is absolutely nothing wrong with TRT. But lets make sure we have done EVERYTHING first. It will only allow it to work better with less of a dose needed. Drew Derby ( registered holistic nutritionist, strength coach, posturologist and much more) breaks down more than just supplements to take. But why your clients may be struggling. As well as step by step how to rebuild the body for testosterone to rise again. He also comes with the approach of GET TO THE ROOT. Give the body what it needs. Not just what is trending.  In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Drew Derby (owner of World Class Health & Performance). On this episode they discuss why your clients testosterone is low.. and how to get it back without TRT.IG- @fitparent_formula This episode is hosted by Ken Sylvan Keep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner?Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
The cosmetic industry is a multi billion dollar industry!! When the difference in one ingredient can shift the profit margins way up, many companies have chosen the dollar over the health of the consumer. Many of your clients are wearing cosmetics of some sort. On the same page are clients suffering from painful cycles, poor skin issues, or even just not being able to change their bodies in the way they want. The issue is the lack of connection with what goes on the skin and what ends up in the body. Much of your cosmetics may cover up blemishes or make your skin tone more vibrant. But how many of them do that in a way that toxify your liver, gut and lymphatic system? How many of them are sourced from places carefully. While helping the natives of that place? Finding a cosmetic company that is delivering a product that is good for both you and the environment it is creating it from is RARE. Enter Seeb Organics. Bridging ancient alchemy of IRAN, AFRICA MIDDLE EAST with science of modern times. Using technology like ozination and sound frequency to affect the particles in the oil and water in their products. Looking at what is in the soil, as that affects the quality of the products that you put on your skin!  In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Hanna Yeganeh (founder, formulator and CEO of Seeb Organics). What we feed ourselves and our clients does matter. Even clients coming from a place where they barely eat quality protein. Does it matter if they eat wild meats? Is having adequate protein levels enough? Let's dive deeper. There are some definite differences between farmed and wild meats. Wild meats come from animals that are living in an environment more familiar to them. This can range from literally having meat from animals living in the wild. To animals that roam freely and eat food off the land and not in a feed lot. So what are some of the positives for animals living in this kind of environment. Probably the most important is the mental health of the animal. Being able to roam outdoors, easily keeps any animal happier. And we know chronically elevated stress hormone, is not great for the health of any animal.   Eating foods that they genetically should be eating yields a happier, healthier animal. So animals in the wild are doing just that. Not eating feeds or foods that are solely there to fatten them up faster. This ends up in a leaner healthier animal. As they usually feel and digest better. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Dr. Pran Yoganathan. On this episode they discuss the benefits of consuming wild meats over farmed ones. As well as how this may help your clients results while helping the world.IG- @dr_pran_yoganathan   This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts May 7th 2024Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
In our last episode we spoke about Kambo as a treatment. Also as an interesting support item of our bodies. But in this episode we dive into fungus and how it can show up in our bodies. As well as how do we handle it? What is fungus? Why do we get it? They are eukaryotic organisms ( meaning they cells) that can be yeast, mould or mushrooms. Some forms will leave within us safely. But become an issue when overgrowth happens. Or when they us degrade dangerous synthetic toxins, heavy metals in our bodies. Some we can inhale from our environment. So what are some signs or having fungus? Dry skin and scalp issues, eczema, psoriasis, bloating and bowel issues. As well as consistent weight gain. It can even show up as disrupted sleep at night.   But to get fungus to recede, certain things need to happen. Removing some items that feed them or create a breeding ground is key. Like sugars, white potatoes and alcohol. As fungus feeds off of them. As well keeping an eye of wheat, pasteurized dairy, corn, soy and sugar. As these cause inflammation in the gut environment. Which creates an environment for fungus to grow.   In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast, host Ken Sylvan interviews Dr. Calvin Ng. On this episode they discuss how to recognize, manage and prevent fungal overgrowth. As well as how to start living intentionally.IG- @drcalvinng   This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts November 7th 2023Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
In our last episode we spoke about the lymphatic system. Which is important to understand as its the sewer system of the body. But what are other ways to help clients systems repair? Kambo is an interesting support item of our bodies. In this episode we dive deeper into Kambo and its benefits. What is Kambo? It is the secretion from a frog in the Amazon-giant monkey tree frog or Phyllomedusa bicolor. It contains a lot of beneficial peptides. These peptides have been studied for their therapeutic effects for HIV/AIDS, autoimmune disease, STDS, Hepatitis, Herpes, Alzheimers, Parkinsons, Skin and eye issues, Chronic pain relief, Depression, Anxiety, Digestive Issues, Infections, Chronic Fatigue, Migraines and more. Kambo can be helpful for a couple things that coaches are unaware of. Great for reducing chronic inflammation, as well as for treatment of candida and other infections.  It is also a potent detoxifier. The neuropeptides are beneficial for calming the nervous system. It can also support treatment of depression, anxiety and migraines.   In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan interviews his friend, long time previous business partner and now Trauma-informed Medicine Guide/Advanced Kambo Practitioner Bharat Oza. As they discuss, why Kambo is an important practice for coaches to explore, when working with clients.IG- @bthymedicineHeartofgodbook@gmail.com  This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts September 2023Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
In our last episode we spoke about Heavy Metals and how they affect the growth of microbes like parasites. We touched briefly on the affect on the lymphatic system. In this episode we dive deeper into what the lymphatic system actually is. How it works as well. Understanding the lymphatic system is the missing link in many practitioners tool box. As all organs need drainage for them to properly function. Unlike veins and arteries, lymph does not flow through its vessels because of a heart like pump. We need movement, breathwork and other things to create proper flow of lymph. So what things need to be done to drain the lymphatic system? Which can help with toxin removal, heavy metals and so much more.  If our clients have a sluggish lymphatic system, they possibly also have skin issues, constipation, cycle and period issues. Even fat loss and weight issues. So understanding when do this and how, is vital to sustained health and fat loss for your clients. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan interviews his good friend Lisa Balsdon, highly respected colleague and owner of Live in Motion and co-owner of LuxLife Retreats. As Coaches, finding solutions to challenges that clients have is really what we do. Knowing where to look or what path to go down is vital in a clients success journey. This also means understanding why microbes like yeast, fungus or parasites won't reduce to an acceptable level. Parasites and other microbes are in all of us. But when they begin to over run our system, we have to ask why? What and how we eat can affect the gut environment. Which will allow parasites to thrive. As well, some of their favorite foods are heavy metals. So if we have them in our system, parasites will love to stay. Which also means parasites can carry a higher concentration of heavy metals in them, than our body is used to having. So what are examples of heavy metals? Mercury, cadmium, fluoride, nickel, copper, lead to name a few. Where can we find them? In items like tap water, birth control, dental work, cosmetics and vaccines. Regular exposure to these items over time will cause a build up in our system. As our body, naturally doesn't know how to remove these items from our system. But what's the big deal with having too many heavy metals in our system? Well they can be amazing hormone disruptors. Affecting the very things that affect our health and fat loss. They can collect in fatty tissues. Which also means fat will need to stay around despite things like exercise. Organs are another place they end up. Which will definitely affect their function. Lastly, as I said, they attract microbes like yeast, parasites and fungus/mold.  If our clients are having heavy metal issues. They may also have issues with cellulite, dropping body fat, possibly gall bladder issues, skin issues and even auto immunity challenges. Even higher level concerns like M.S, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Not to mention altered cell structures like our highly important mitochondria. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan interviews his friend Jason Persaud, highly respected colleague and owner of Excito Life Health and Wellness. Clients may come to you holding on to old habits of success that may or may not be healthy for them. It's our job as coaches to improve their relationship with food as they heal and transform. Not the opposite. Even though most coaching programs have a time limit. We need to remember that many of the tools clients learn will be with them for life. So teaching them better perspectives and sustainable habits is vital for not just immediate success. But lifetime success. One of the most important things to be aware of are the different seasons that clients go through. If we can remember this, we can also adjust how we coach clients. Which will allow them to stay successful in their journey. Giving structure, but not being too specific, Focusing on basic weekend goals like (hydration, protein and movement), varying the 80/20 rule and breaking the day into quarters are 4 simple ways to help clients stay closer to their nutrition plan long term. Wanting both sides of the coin can be tricky. So if clients aren't happy with how fast results are coming, make sure to get them to reevaluate what matters most to them. Most importantly, people, their lives and goals can change. So checking in with them to see if anything has changed along the way is key. This allows you to again modify not only their plan but how you coach and help them. Which will equal SUCCESS for them and you! Starting a clients fat loss journey properly is vital to their long term success. The most foundational part of fat loss is great sleep. As everything from repair, hormonal balance, mood and fat loss are influenced by deep sleep. Improving sleep can improve a clients energy, hormonal profile, decrease inflammation and rebalance many systems that are offline. So many organs get repaired at night. By improving their function, clients see more sustainable fat loss. As their body works better. Not because it was pushed harder. As a coach, it would be ideal to start by improving sleep hygiene. As poor sleep habits tends to be where sleep issues begin. Working on their habits will allow the big 3 hormones to regulate quicker. Cortisol, insulin and growth hormone are all affected by how well clients sleep. The more these big 3 hormones are in balance, the faster people see results As coaches, knowing if your client is sleeping well is very important. As there can be different issues with why their sleep is poor. They may not fall asleep in 5 minutes or they may wake up multiple times in the night. All of these signs tell you the coach, that their sleep is poor. Most plans fail because of lack of ignoring clients poor sleep. Or taking their word for it that they sleep well. Investigation is necessary! In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan discusses what hormones sleep affects and how this can impact your clients results almost immediately.   This episode is hosted by Ken SylvanKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts Sept. 13th, 2022Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
As more and more coaches move to the online space, learning how to respond to DMs, comments or questions is vital. More importantly, moving clients from a simple question to becoming a client of yours does take some skill. If done incorrectly, your business can slow to a halt. Speaking to clients in the online space isn't too different from on the gym floor. Getting to know them and what they are struggling with or want is step one. This allows you to speak to them appropriately. As well as allow them to get to know you. As a coach, it would be ideal if clients came in, said hello and asked for the payment link to sign up for your program. But if your DMs are busy, you know this is not the case. There is a percentage of clients that are ready to go with their first DM. But most will be inquiring about services and prices. So they will need a some interaction first. Compliance with nutritional plans rarely fail because of the information presented, but usually lies in the coaching around habit and lifestyle changes. If a client has never been on a structured nutritional regimen and are use to choosing food and meals on the go or in the moment, you will need to coach them to success. Most coaches struggle getting clients into their program and out of DM questions because, they are not taking the time to nurture the client and solve the problems presented. As well, their process isn't clear. Which can create more hesitation for the client. In this episode of The Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Podcast Ken Sylvan and Bharat Oza breakdown 4 quick tips that you can implement right away when dealing prospective clients in the online space. As well as how to take prospective clients (who are just asking questions) and turn them into happy clients.   This episode is hosted by Ken Sylvan & Bharat OzaKeep the conversation going with us over on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/transformationmentorship/ Interested in becoming certified as a Stress-Reduced Fat Loss™ Practitioner? Our next cohort starts September 13th, 2022Learn more - https://www.transformationmentorship.ca/
How many times have you heard a client complain of feeling bloated? Experiencing a distended, painful abdomen area is highly uncomfortable and can be quite embarrassing for anyone. Most people who struggle with bloating will reach for Tums, Pepto, bubbly drinks, take meds, or just put up with it. We live in a world of fast prescriptions and bandaid solutions, but this doesn't get to the root cause of what's causing the bloating and it will most likely continue to be an issue. Understanding WHY your client feels bloated is most important. Bloating happens when the body is telling us something is wrong.  Most likely, they are not processing the foods they are eating. This happens because: Meal timing is off - the body enjoys being on a consistent rhythm and runs on it's own internal clocked called the circadian rhythm. Eating at sporadic times throughout the day or at least not on a consistent schedule will throw the body's natural processes out of alignment. Certain foods disrupt the gut - the most common culprits are the Furious Five: wheat, corn, soy, sugar and dairy.  These foods are very inflammatory, and removing them will 100% make a massive difference in healing, repair, and digestive system function. Stomach acid levels are low - the stomach secretes a powerful acidic substance called HCl that must be at a certain low level of pH and high quantity level. If one or both of these factors are missing then food is not properly broken down in the stomach creating strain on the lower digestive processes, most likely resulting in putrification/rotting of food in the lower intestine. Testing your client’s stomach acid level is vital to understanding whats going on. Stress is too high - when the body is in fight or flight mode, it cannot be in rest and digest, which is optimal for digestive processes. A busy schedule, always on the go, rushing when eating or just feeling overwhelmed are signs of stress and a strain on the nervous system. Listen into this episode as Ken and Sara break this topic down and give you insight on how to help a client elevate this frustrating symptom. Constantly covering up, or just putting up with the bloating, will cause more issues and symptoms to pop up down the road. Bloating is very common, but it is NOT NORMAL.  It's a signal that something is not functioning well. Structuring a clients nutrition can be one of the most impactful things you can do for them, but with that can come some challenges that will require you to coach a client through. Nutritional changes alone can improve a clients energy, increase important nutrient intake, decrease inflammation and rebalance many system that need attention. These nutritional changes can be implement through an exact meal plan that you have designed or structuring macronutrient ratios for a client to follow or even starting with removing inflammatory foods only. As a coach, it would be ideal if you presented a client with nutritional changes and they took the plan and implemented it with ease. If you have done nutritional work with clients, you will know that this just isn't the case with all clients. There is a percentage of clients who are able to take any plan and run with it, but many others will need your support and coaching. Compliance with nutritional plans rarely fail because of the information presented, but usually lies in the coaching around habit and lifestyle changes. If a client has never been on a structured nutritional regimen and are use to choosing food and meals on the go or in the moment, you will need to coach them to success. Most plans fail because of lack of preparation with food, having a busy schedule and poor planning. This is where your coaching comes in. I'm really looking forward to this podcast and more episodes! Question... (you may be able to address this in a future podcast episode) but how would you approach this method with someone who has disordered eating patterns and a history of binge/ restrictions (example: removes dairy and gluten and when they allow it back in they binge on it)? Looking forward to hearing more! Great work guys!
