Yes! Let's talk money, money, money!Discussing money is totally my jam. In this episode I'm super honest about the financial side to home education. We'll talk common money questions, and I'll share how I navigated money when we got started (partnered), to how I navigate it now (as a single mama). When I became a home educator, deschooling was my favorite idea to implement! It was also, a challenging time. I was surprised by how many rigid ideas of education I held within me even though consciously I wanted to choose freedom.I found myself struggling, and deschooling resources and asking questions about my specific circumstances was essential for us to thrive through deschooling. Beyond "what curriculum to choose?"  this episode delves into the basics of learning vs. teaching. You can teach until you're blue in the face, but learning won't necessarily take place.Knowing that we don't distill learning, can help us reframe how we support our little learners AND it can also free us to imagine our days beyond spending our days trying to become school-like teachers.  I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. As you get started with homeschooling, you will have to take the lead on choices, opportunities, and decision-making that aligns with yourself and your family's values. If you don't know what you stand for, it's a little harder to navigate those calls, so take a moment to listen to the episode, and then workshop the essence of your top 2-4 values.Don't worry about getting them 'right' or 'perfect'. An initial list will be enough to get you going and you can always listen to this episode again to re-work your list when you feel you need to update them.I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. This episode is based on Simon Sinek's book and TED Talk: 'Start with Why' which asks us to align our projects to the deeper meaning within. As you get started with homeschooling, your 'WHY' becomes the beacon to inspire your journey. We workshop how to find and align with your WHY so you can start your home educating exploration in personal, connected, and authentic alignment. Taking a moment to align your WHY will also help you tackle your HOW and WHAT more effectively.I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. Join the next Getting Started (Australia) by registering here: HEA Virtual Q&A.In this episode we talk common fears that stop us from getting started. Have you ever thought:"I feel ill equipped to begin", "I ran out of time to prepare and school is starting", "I don't know what curriculum to use" or "I'll wait until next year before I commit"If you're considering homeschooling, releasing these three (sometimes unconscious)  beliefs can support what feels like the most important educational decision you'll be making for your children:1. Release: "The Schooling System is Best", this belief assumes that we have to copy school into our home education environment, because this is the best or only way to educate.2. Release: "The Schooling System Knows Better", this belief assumes that since you're not a qualified teacher, you need to pay for resources, or 'teachers' to bridge the gap.3. Release: "The Schooling System is Most Efficient", this belief assumes that you have to work hard & fast to keep up with it, after all you're only the one person right? Wrong!I know you have the vision, the circumstances of your life have led you here, now it's just a matter to catch up your mindset to get the lifestyle you desire for yourself and your children is possible.I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. In his book 'It Didn't Start With You', Mark Wolynn discusses how inherited family trauma shapes who we are and how we can end the cycle. He invites us to heal by forging, mending, and reaching to connect with our family of origin, especially our parents. You, like me, may have taken a departure from the mainstream value system of the times we were raised in. And yet, we hold both the old value system and the new within us. Can we depart from what was while staying connected to where we came from? Themes:  Family System,  Parental Relationships, Connection & Compassion, I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. I don't have (or need) any other better reason for choosing home educating other than the selfish desire for living a liberated lifestyle with my daughter Pippa. Throughout my journey, every time I said NO to the system, I found a new up-level and the benefits were so abundantly beautiful I would never go back so long as I continue to have the privilege. So, here they are...the three selfish reasons (or up-levels) WHY I home educate:1. Opting out of the daily logistics and requirements to serve the system.2. Opting out of the beliefs and motivations to implement the system at home.3. Opting out of the  values the system embedded in common parenting paradigms.Themes:  Homeschooling, Unschooling, Systemic Oppression, Abundance, Lifestyle Choices, Parenting I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. We discuss the benefits of following a philosophy as well as the benefits of leaving the philosophy behind when it's your time. Ultimately, my desire and intention is to support anyone who desires to live more freely, regardless of their approach and alignment or misalignment with the unschooling philosophy. I believe we can provide more compassion, love, and understanding when we align ourselves with people's intentions versus a system or philosophy.Themes:  Unschooling Philosophy, Unschooling Support Group Dynamics, Resources as Stepping Stones, Living Beyond Philosophies.I would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset. Singles, expats, separated by distance or by choice and divorced parents... it's a reality for many of us that we do not hold 100% rights to the company of our children. Having left my homeland back in 2009, I easily exchanged my family's holiday time for my ex-partner's family holiday time. Now, separated three years and I'm learning to be on my own, hold my own, and stand with myself, even when my child chooses to spend holiday time with others.Themes:  Relational Rupture, Abandonment, Holiday Stress, Trauma, Inner Child Healing, Growth and Self Love & AcceptanceI would love to support you on your journey in a group setting where we can get together with other free-thinking homeschoolers who are ready to engage a modern education & leadership mindset.
