I’m still breathing as I type this, so you can tell it’s been a busy Nova
Open! We held our first live show in over 2 years! Mike & Kyron from the
Nova Open staff join us for more hijinx than we can probably withstand.
I promise we’ll get back to interviews next time (Nova Open LIVE show
btw!!), but for now we’ve finally got more news out of Gen Con to talk
about, along with what was “hot” during the show.
This is awkward…normally I’m the one with stories from Gen Con, now I’m
scouring online looking for them myself. We’ve got some news stories and
social media to fill in the gaps though!
Ready to throw down in some UNO at the casino? How about learning sign
language in a TTRPG? A bit D&D heavy with the news this week, but Eric
Yurko is here from What’s Eric Playing (https://whatsericplaying.com/) to
balance us out and talk about what’s going to be on display at Gen Con this
year.
No guest this week, just a lot of news to talk about. Like what games does
CMON have left? And why is Asmodee hiring their crowdfunding “expert”? Even
I can read the tea leaves on why thats a bad idea. Also, would you pay $165
for a Magic the Gathering event? I don’t think I would.
CMON has a “Setting Sun” with several of its games, Gundam minis are
(surprise) really well put together, and a board game about dating D&D
monsters? Also, Mark Henry from the site Goblin’s Hut (
https://www.goblinshut.com/) is here to talk about the product “Dirty Down”
and how it can make painting your miniatures easier.
Come on and SLAM, and welcome to the Jam that is POGs! Meanwhile, I’ve got
new rulebooks to buy, some books maybe I shouldn’t buy, and Will Schoonover
is here from Steve Jackson Games to talk about what’s new in the Munchkin
world. I better keep an eye on Philip…
Apparently the internet is wrong and people wont quit playing Magic from
Universes Beyond? Just switch over to Altered, where you can have print on
demand cards in your TCG. That just seems weird to me. Also, we’ve got
Shane from the Foundry VTT team here with us to talk about what makes their
software different from the multitudes of options available!
Someone at Hasbro should stop letting their CEO talk. Also, there’s a lot
of crappy news out so I decided to talk about some new games announced
recently. Speaking of news, we’ve also got Rowan Zeoli on from Rascal News
to talk about what its like as an independent news blog in this dumpster
fire of a time.
Remember how I said the adepticon news would be in a separate episode, and then it never came out? That's because a storm knocked out my internet, and the week got so busy we never got around to trying again. There's still some good stuff in the 20 mins that did record.
Chris Perkins isn’t at Wizards of the Coast anymore? I might not have to
put decals on my minis anymore? I’m just a glass cage of emotions right
now. In the meantime, we’ve got Justus and Eric from the card game
Doomlings on to talk about their cute little catastrophe game.
Gamestop has decided crypto is the right investment, Stonemaier is
investing in Disc Golf, and Battletech is going…Gothic? We’ve also got on
Tom Lommel from Evil Hat Productions (https://evilhat.com/) to talk about
all the “Evil” things they have coming up this year.
Would you pay $87K for a pokemon shaped cheeto? What about buy a board game
based on The Sims or Helldivers 2? Speaking of electronic gaming, we’ve
also got Jean Simonet from Pixels on the show to talk about their
electronic dice!
Remember Decipher? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Also, that D&D Mr. Potato

it was like designing the Mass Effect Board Game along with Eric Lang!
Wingspan’s second sequel smells kind of fishy…ubereats now serving Pokemon
cards, and you can’t make enough noise for the next Warhammer army… Plus,
Bostria from Corvus Belli joins us to talk about the wargame Infinity!
Not exactly an abundance of news stories this early in the year, but that’s
okay, because there’s one Minis game that will probably stomp all over the
rest… Plus! We’ve got Silvia and Fabio from Loot Studios here to talk about
their upcoming game Malediction!
Wrath and Gloooooria……in exterminius deo? We get into the Christmas spirit
talking with Chris Colston about the Warhammer 40,000 tabletop RPG “Wrath
and Glory”. Also, we go through the top 10 news stories of 2024 and
remember what a crazy year it’s been!
Unlike my electric car, I like my Pax’es “Unplugged”. Both of us went this
year, so what did we see & do? Also, Wyrmwood is still a crappy company,
somehow Funko took down itch.io, and Vallejo workers are on strike? All
this and more!

(Clipped from a review originally left on Podchaser) Being able to tune in to talk as unassuming in tone as it is, in fact, pretty slick in terms of production setup, has been truly uplifting [...] A no fuss good time which shouldn't add to the initial confusion of anybody new to tabletop gaming, and not the most thorough media feed, but a deserving take nonetheless, where no introductory discourse is required.
