Meet the hosts - Kate (she/they) and Theresa (she/they) as they start their journey reading Jane Austen. We will be starting our first episode with Chapters 1-4 of Pride and Prejudice! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Our first episode is here! Kate (she/they) managed to get Theresa (she/they) to start reading Pride and Prejudice!Listen to our completely historically inaccurate discussion of these first few chapters of Pride and Prejudice! :)Note: Age of majority and age of consent are different. In the Regency era the age of consent was 12 for girls and 14 for boys, but parental consent to marry by licence was needed for minors under the age of 21. Note: We got other things wrong too. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We discuss chapters 5-7 of Pride and Prejudice. In these chapters we discuss fathers checking out, stalker Darcy, and much more. Enjoy this episode with two siblings - Kate (she/they), a therapist and lover of Jane Austen, and Theresa (she/they), a social worker who has never read Jane Austen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
More historically inaccurate ramblings from these two siblings! In this episode we discuss chapters 8-9 of Pride and Prejudice. Is Caroline Bingley a narcissist? Does Mr. Bingley have issues with conflict? Will there be dancing? All that and more questions we do not give you answers to! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We continue our journey into Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Does Darcy have a humiliation kink? What's going on with Bingley's ADHD? Why does Caroline Bingley... why? All this and more questions we won't fully answer. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We continue with Chapters 13-15 by discussing the terrible communication between the Bennets, whether Mrs. Bennet is a feminist, whether Mr. Collins have a thing for older women, what's with this Wickham dude - and more. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
WE FINALLY GET A BALL! In this episode we talk about our suspicions of Wickham, how much we hate Collins, the Bennets imploding, Lizzy in the role as family caregiver, Jane genuinely just being the nicest person ever, and how adorable Darcy is. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Trigger warning this episode for general discussion of rape culture, consent violations, and emotional abuse. In these chapters we discuss Collins proposal AND the fall out! Come down the rabbit hole with of anger about consent violations and patriarchal culture! Theresa has a moment where they almost likes Mr. Bennet. We also discuss Bingley leaving and how much we continue to dislike Caroline. It's a fun ride! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This week we touch on Charlotte's sexual identity, more bad parenting from the Bennets, thoughts on marriage and the patriarchy, and more fun thoughts. Come join us through chapters 22-26. :) Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
TW: Discussion of features of abuse within the relationship with Mr. Collins. In this episode we travel from Longbourn to Rosings Park. We discuss how much we love Mrs. Gardiner, how we feel sad for both Jane and Charlotte, and our feelings regarding Lady Catherine de Bourgh. Join us and hear the ramblings of two siblings dissecting Jane Austen from our unique lens. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We discuss chapter 30-34. Topics include crushing on Colonel Fitzwilliam, Charlotte being the perceptive one, spicy conversation between Darcy and Lizzy, Darcy being a submissive, Darcy being a potential murderer, the worst way to propose, and having a huge hate on for Darcy. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We discuss Darcy's letter and Elizabeth's reaction. Does Darcy feel guilty or is he trying to be right? Did the senior Wickham relationship make Darcy suspicious of people marrying for wealth? Wickham is evil - no debate there. Was Elizabeth the asshole? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
After an unplanned but much needed hiatus, we are back! We discuss leaving Hunstford, lunch with Kitty and Lydia, and Lizzy watching her family dynamics unravel. We both agree that if we were 15 we wouldn't want to be Lydia's friend. And we are happy to be leaving Collins behind, but CHAAAAAARLOOOOTTTE! :( Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this episode, Lydia heads off for spring break. Lizzy is noticing her family's flaws. And Darcy shows up... at his own house. Awkward turtles and kicking rocks commence. Chapter 43 is the official chapter where Theresa became a Jane Austen fan!!! EEEEEEE! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Hey! We made it back for another episode. In here we discuss the Darcy sibling's social anxiety and what happened to these poor awkward puppies. We talk about Darcy and Elizabeth being obviously in love but pretending not to be - everybody else totally noticing. We discuss victim-blaming around Lydia's circumstances and how scared she must be. And Darcy is leaving. We are grieved indeed! grieved--shocked! But is it certain--absolutely certain? Hopefully you'll come back and join us next time to find out. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this episode Theresa is asking "Where is Darcy?" We discuss how Wickham is evil and give our musings on some of his abusive behaviour and predatory traits. We struggle with Jane as she focuses on intent over impact, but we also see her as the rock that has kept the family operating during this trying time. We are frustrated with the Bennet parents, and deeply wish the Gardiners could have been the parents instead. We wish Wickham was dead and we feel for Lydia. We discuss how horrible Collins is and how Austen uses him to critique a particular worldview (if you have these views you should challenge them – because you have the same views as Mr Collins). And we are here for the sibling love - both our's and Jane and Lizzy's. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It's all about Chapter 52! Theresa finally admits they love Darcy! We did it folks! We converted Theresa! We discuss the Bennet parents being their usual neglectful selves, Lydia's wedding, Lydia and Wickham being the most annoying humans alive, how much we love the Gardiners, and Darcy! DARCY! WE LOVE YOU! Come join us as we approach the end of Pride and Prejudice! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
This episode we talk about: Lydia and Wickham set out - and we aren't unhappy that we won't see them for a long while. Bingley comes back - WITH A FRIEND! Darcy and Elizabeth are awkward turtles - and we are here for it. Bingley and Jane being their own awkward soup. We are super happy for Jane! YAY JANE! Theresa is preparing to burn their book and hate Jane Austen if there isn't an epilogue that tells us about everyone's life after the HEA. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We’re back and almost done Pride and Prejudice. This episode had it all! Lady Catherine being entitled, Lizzy taking no shit, Collins being Collings, Mrs Bennet giving us second hand embarrassment, Mr Bennet being his sarcastic self, Jane and Bingley being super adorable, and Darcy! DARCY! We love love! Why do we love Darcy and Elizabeth? They get tongue tied talking to each other. They will treat each other like equals. They create a strong healthy foundation (SERIOUSLY! SWOONY THERAPIST STUFF!). And, they are so excessively cute awkward turtles! We love love! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
We did it! Theresa has read a Jane Austen novel - and they loved it! Come listen while we discuss the final three chapters of Pride and Prejudice. We get to gush over Darcy and Elizabeth (our favourite awkward turtles)! We get to watch Lizzy try and convince her family that she loves Darcy! We get to watch them flirt! And we get to watch them have their happily ever after!Thank you for coming on this magic ride! And we hope to see you next season for Northanger Abbey! Hosted on Acast. guysss these statues are famous artistic statuses! and they are showing another part of Darici's character or his soul! 😅 And about Darcie's statue, they didn't carve this statue 😅😅😅 I can't explain how they made it in a message, but if you search for it, that's how the eyes were in statues in those days!😂 I think you two don't get symbolism that much😅 You are really fun, keep going!✌🏻
