This episode, we talk about studying and working abroad. In our experience, studying and working abroad versus in the Philippines are so different from studying and working in other countries. Sa ibang bansa, especially sa Europe, hindi masyado uso yung may degree and kahit wala kang degree, you still get a good job that pays a lot. And very accessible ang masters/PhD in other countries – you can actually finish your masters in 1-2 years and your PhD in 3 years. Very similar yung education system ng Philippines to the US, but there are so many differences as well. So today we want to talk about these differences and give you some tips if you want to do it too! We have Mima, Julze, and Renee to guide you through how to apply for jobs/studies in the US and Europe/UK.
This episode, we process our feelings about the Philippine elections. In the last episode, we endorsed Leni Robredo and of course, we felt a lot of feelings since the results came out. It has been a roller coaster ride, ika nga. For us migrants, mas mahirap pa because we’re far away from home and it can feel isolating and we can feel even more helpless. Parang ang layo-layo natin. But how can we grieve for a country from far away and what can we do moving forward? In this episode we have Mima, Julze, and Renee talking about how we process our emotions and how we take care of ourselves for the bigger fight ahead!

We have the power to vote for a good (or bad) future. Hindi yon exaggerated ha? Hanggang ngayon ramdam natin ang mga desisyon na nagawa ilang dekada na ang nakalipas. Kaya ang pag-uusapan natin in this episode ay... para kanino ang boto mo?
This month we are celebrating International Women’s Month and the theme for this year is Break the Bias. Kaya in celebration of women, pag-uusapan natin how we can empower women by breaking the biases that surround us. As women madami nang biases, stereotypes, and discrimination against us. “Babae kasi” or “Mahina kasi babae” are just some of the comments na nagpapakita na hanggang ngayon madami pa rin tayong hinaharap na biases that we need to break. As migrant women, mas madami pa ang discrimination na hinaharap natin, especially as women of colour in countries that are predominantly white. Sa pag break ng bias, dapat kasama natin lahat. In this episode we have Renee, Mima, Jam, and Paola discussing how we can all help break the bias.
Sabi nga ng Rivermaya, panahon nanaman ng pag-ibig! Pero iba na talaga ang mukha ng pag-ibig ngayon thanks to globalization and technology. We can meet people from different cultures more easily, and our long distance relationships are now filled with video calls and the use of other technologies. If you’re still looking for romance, we have so many websites and apps to help you with that too.So for this episode we want to talk about finding and sustaining love in this modern world as a migrant or when your partner is a migrant. How do relationships survive long distance relationships? How does it feel like being in a relationship with someone from another culture? And how do we find love these days, especially kung na sa ibang bansa ka? Paano nga ba ang dating culture sa ibang bansa? We have Pao, Jam, Mima, Julze, and Renee for this episode.
Our second episode is very apt for the new year. Sabi nila, new year, new me. We try to recreate ourselves and be a better version of ourselves, and what better timing to be resolved about it than the start of a new year, di ba? Pero, if there’s another event in one’s life that will definitely change you as a person, it’s living abroad. Ang daming changes sa environment, culture, language among others, that we have to grapple with. How does living abroad change us nga ba?We have Renee, Jam, Pao, Mima, and Julze to talk to us about change and how it can be good for our personal growth.

Paskong Pinoy

For our first episode, we will be talking about Paskong Pinoy! I think as migrants, we tend to miss the Philippines the most kapag Christmas time. But also, mas feel rin natin ang demands back home kapag Pasko – andyan ang balikbayan box, pera padala, and other things that our families expect of us.
