In this episode, which was recorded live for a club meeting at my high school, I debate my fellow classmate, Liam McDaniel, on whether or not the Bible supports eternal damnation or universal reconciliation? I believe that this debate is very informative and is the best debate I have participated in, at least as of right now, due to its highly-researched content and diametrically opposed viewpoints. Here is our YouTube channel, if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMW63MBn6CNfeuICmUsBkqw

In this episode, Xavier breaks down why some of the earliest and most prominent Christian intellectuals espoused universal salvation. Universalism is a fascinating theodicy in terms of Hell, because it rules out eternal damnation and creating people destined for eternal punishment or at least annihilation and is a relevant concept in terms of comparative religion and the development of Christian theology. Also, a slight correction is needed: I misspoke in saying that Dr. John Dominic Crossan dates The Gospel of Peter to 50 AD. He believes that the passion narrative in Peter serves as the basis for the passion narrative in the canonical gospels and is a separate source predating all five documents, but does not necessarily date the gospel to that date. For more content, feel free to check out our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMW63MBn6CNfeuICmUsBkqwSources/Suggested Reading:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CjSy9CWEeUhttps://www.jstor.org/stable/pdf/40211991.pdf?refreqid=fastly-default%3A6e7d8a377010492d6aeea82d57517d91&ab_segments=0%2Fbasic_search_gsv2%2Fcontrol&origin=search-resultshttp://gnosis.org/library/actjohn.htmhttps://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Peter%203&version=NASBhttp://gnosis.org/library/gospete.htmhttps://biblicalstudies.org.uk/pdf/jts/032_270.pdfhttps://www.sacred-texts.com/cla/sib/sib04.htmhttps://pure.rug.nl/ws/portalfiles/portal/3791969/c5.pdfhttps://www.earlychristianwritings.com/actsthomas.htmlhttps://www.namb.net/apologetics/resource/the-gospel-of-peter/

Note: Yargh! There have been some issues with the microphones as of late (specifically this episode and the last), but I think you will really enjoy this conversation, as Jesus's angelic Christology is a hotly debated topic among both evangelical Christian apologists and theologians and secular academics alike. In this episode, Xavier and Rylan debate whether or not the Biblical authors viewed Jesus as an angelic being. Our YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMW63MBn6CNfeuICmUsBkqw
Happy Memorial Day American listeners and international listeners alike!Firstly, sorry for the amplified breathing in the background when my grandfather is talking (technical difficulties), which I tried to get rid of, but you can still hear some of it. Secondly, if you can get past that, the interview really shows a lot of the tension and intensity of the Cold War Era from a firsthand witness, which is a really special thing. Thirdly, stay tuned for a planned episode entitled “Roman Catholicism: Interviewing My Deacon Grandpa." This should come out relatively soon. "Episode 24 | Ahmadi Muslim Imam Interview" should be coming out even sooner.
