AfterGate is hosted Alvin Glymph aka AL, and German DuBois aka Jerry, where they interview fellow alums of color (business Leaders, creative leaders, innovative leaders, teachers, doctors, politicians, community leaders, bloggers, influencers & more) to discuss their professional endeavors after Gate.

A seasoned consultant proficient in Nonprofit Organizations, Budgeting, Policy Analysis, Program Evaluation, and Strategic Planning. Prior to his current position, he held roles such as Performance Oversight Associate with the New York State Education Department’s Charter Schools Office and Director of the Office of Parent Partnerships for the NYC Department of Education. Following his undergraduate studies at Colgate University, he earned a Master’s in Education Administration from Michigan University and a Master’s in Management & Urban Policy from The New School. During his time at Colgate, he was elected Student Vice President and played a pivotal role in launching the student newspaper, The Prism. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Colgate in History.
Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Broward College Professor, Robert Morris Jr., ’95, ’97. As a college Social Science professor, he delivers lectures and provides mentorship both within academia and through his non-profit, South Florida Village. Through this organization, he collaborates with community leaders to offer college readiness programs and mentoring support to students in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Committed to advancing social justice, he actively works to dismantle barriers that threaten democracy. Post-Colgate, he pursued further education, earning a Masters in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University and a Doctorate in Leadership and Education with a specialization in Exceptional Student Education from Barry University. During his time at Colgate, he made history by becoming the first African American elected as Student Government Association Vice-President, following a successful freshman year. He completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and African/Latin American Studies in 1995, and later obtained his Masters of Arts in Teaching in Secondary School Social Studies in 1997.

With several decades of experience in pest management within the greater New York City area, Mr. Giles has dedicated his career to recruiting and training workers based on the belief that pest management is essential and beneficial. Throughout his four years as an undergraduate and six years as an administrator, he was focused on identifying and establishing the necessary support and nurturing environment to sustain a diverse community. During his student years, his activism, along with the efforts of other students, directly contributed to the establishment of Colgate's Cultural Center. In addition to his academic pursuits, Mr. Giles was also an active student athlete, participating on the basketball team, and ultimately earning his Bachelor of Arts degree.

With an extensive career spanning decades in the healthcare industry, David manages a healthcare and public health consulting firm, addressing multifaceted challenges in business operations, patient/client engagement, Covid-19 mitigation, and organizational strategy. His expertise benefits a wide spectrum of clients, including organizations, municipalities, and federal entities. Following his time at Colgate University, David earned a Master's in Public Health in Healthcare Management and Public Health Policy and Administration at the University of Michigan School of Public Health. During his years at Colgate, David participated in football and baseball as a student athlete. Additionally, he was actively involved in WRCU and played a leadership role in WeFunk. Angela has expertise in academic counseling and guiding prospective students to success in higher education. A lifelong learner, after graduating from Colgate University, she received a Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University, a Master of Education from Rutgers Graduate School of Education, and a Master of Social Work from Syracuse University. She also has led the Alumni of Color Organization. She graduated Colgate with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish.
Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Filmmaker, Writer, and Actor, Johnathan Burton.’18. A multi-talented individual, he a former fitness trainer and elementary school teacher. With a dedicated focus on honing his craft in filmmaking, he has successfully directed a short film and produced several projects. Presently, he immerses himself in the vibrant film festival circuit while also steering the production of his upcoming cinematic endeavor. During his time at Colgate, he actively participated in the Lounge and Brothers, showcasing his involvement and commitment. He attained a Bachelor's degree with a dual major in Theater and English.
Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with New Jersey Superior Courts’ Equal Employment Opportunity Affirmative Action Officer, Kim Thomas Locker.’91. In her role, she provides training to staff, managers, and judges on matters of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Additionally, she engages in outreach activities, communicating with students about potential opportunities within the field of law. Kim began her career journey in the Kings County District Attorney's Office and has since gained experience in both law firm practice and corporate legal specialization. She also holds a membership in the Mid-Atlantic Association for Court Management. Kim pursued her legal education after graduating from Colgate, obtaining a J.D. from Benjamin Cardozo School of Law. During her time at Colgate, she was an active member of the Sojourners and Swinging Gates and attained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion.
Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Faces International - Marketing & Development’s CEO and Cleveland School of Cannabis’ President/Partner, Tyrone Russell,’03. In his role, he uses his professional experience in the subjects of advocacy and social reform. After Colgate, he received his Master’s in Counseling and College Student Personnel from Shippensburg University. While at Colgate, Russell formed an organization geared towards strengthening the presence and community of minority students on campus called Brothers, an organization still existing on the campus of Colgate to this day. He was a highly decorated track and field athlete, a four-time Patriot League Outdoor Champion, taking first place in both the 200 and 400 meters in 2001 and earning gold in the 4x100 meter relay and 200 meters in 2003. He was a four-time recipient of the program’s Outdoor Excellence for Achieving Award. Additionally, he was a two-time recipient of the Walter and Dorothy Fullam Award for significant team contribution. Russell’s performances garnered him a spot in the Colgate Hall of Honor. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Sociology.

A member of the Alumni Council, Tino started his career at Prudential Financial as a Senior Analyst, Mergers and Acquisitions. He thrives in the integration of business and law. Since Colgate he has earned his MBA in Finance and Accounting from The Wharton School and his JD focused in Corporate Law from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. While at Colgate, he was President of the African Students Union, Vice Captain of the Colgate Club Cricket, and a member of Brothers of Colgate, He received his Bachelor in Mathematical Economics and Computer Science.
Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Independent Consulting Manuscript Editor, David Traverzo.’76. He lectures and serves as a consultant for faith-based and other community organizations in areas of leader development, curriculum design, and community outreach initiatives. He is a published author, manuscript editor, and tutor for higher and theological education clients. After Colgate he earned a doctoral degree from Drew University in Ethics, Latino Theology, Social history. He was a Lecturer at Union Theological Seminary in New York, teaching the Spanish for Theological Reading course for Ph.D. and MA students. While at Colgate, he was the founder of UNIDAD. He was also a member of the Colgate 13, Spanish Club, and La Raza Singing Group. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Literature.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with NFL Network’s Coordinating Producer, Allan Flowers.’81.A member of the Alumni Council, he has worked his way through the ranks of all facets of live TV production, starting as a production assistant at ESPN in 1989. Allan joined the Fox Sports family in 1995, taking on a multitude of television production roles, ultimately producing live studio shows for Fox Sports Net. In 2008, Allan became a Coordinating Producer for Fox Sports Midwest with oversight of pregame, game, and postgame productions. Allan joined the NFL in 2013 and after a year on Thursday Night Football, he started leading the productions of NFL Red Zone and all of NFL Network’s draft-eligible all-star games, which include the Reese’s Senior Bowl, East West Shrine Bowl, HBCU Legacy Bowl and NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. At Colgate, he was a 4 year starter, and two year captain on the men’s tennis team. He also was a public address announcer for the men’s and women’s basketball teams, wrote for the Colgate News, President in his senior year of Phi Tau fraternity, and a member of the student Senate. After Colgate, he was the President of the Colgate Club of St. Louis. He received his Bachelor of Arts in History.

She specializes in the development and implementation of customized plans for college-bound student-athletes, homeschoolers and those interested in attending a military academy. After Colgate, she completed a Masters degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was heavily involved in activities including the Sojourners Gospel Choir, WRCU radio, and the Nigeria Study Group. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education.

Regina is currently an affiliate professor in Curriculum and Instruction for Social Change at Loyola University. In 2019, she retired from Prince George's County Public Schools Graduating. She was in the fourth coeducational class at Colgate and while on campus she was part of La Raza. A lifelong learner, after graduating from Colgate University, she received her Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Maryland and her Master of Arts in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University. She is also a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She graduated Colgate with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Fine Arts.

An accomplished IT professional he has an expertise in providing superior technical support for top-level corporate executives and managing multiple projects. He also trains and mentors technicians. Before his current role he served as a Professional Services Manager with AWS Talent and a Regional Operations Manager at Milestone Technologies. While at Colgate he was a student athlete, as a star running back on the football team. When he graduated, he was the 3rd most rushing yards at Colgate University and two Patriot League Championships. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion.

An internationally published sports creative, he has shot the Olympics and other sporting events around the world. Through video and stills, his client list includes Nike, FIBA, NBA, Red Bull, Wilson, Basketball Hall of Fame, SLAM Magazine, Bobbito Garcia, Jordan Brand, Kicks USA, and many more. A cinematographer, he served in that role for Doin’ It In The Park: Pick-Up Basketball, NYC an independent documentary directed by Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau. While at Colgate he was a student athlete, involved with LASO, WeFunk, and Brothers, a dorm Resident Advisor, and also attended study group in London. He received his Bachelor of Arts in English, with an emphasis in Creative Writing.

Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with University of Miami’s Executive Director of the Treasury Department, Jeffrey Boone.’85. As a senior-level treasury professional, he has also served at BayCare Health Systems, Inc., Harris Corp, CHEP USA and American Express. In 2022, he ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Florida's 10th Congressional District. He also was the first African American to serve as Student Government President of Colgate. After Colgate he earned a graduate degree from the NYU Leonard N. Stern Graduate School of Business in 1995. He was a student athlete, playing on the football team and received his Bachelor's Degree in Economics & Political Science.
Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Temple University’s Senior Director of Communications Deirdre Childress Hopkins.’81. She also served as the Director of Public Relations for Visit Philadelphia where she served as the communications representative for Latinx, African American, LGBTQ, and Canadian tourism markets. Before these roles she was the Strategic Communications Manager for the $1.3 billion Pennsylvania Convention Center. She is a former journalist who worked at The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Daily News, and United Press International. A lifelong learner, she received her Master of Science in Strategic Communication from Temple University. Her community service includes the 2016 Philadelphia DNC’s Communications Working Group, 2015 Communications and Marketing Committee for the World Meeting of Families and Papal Visit in Philadelphia, and the social media team for the Pennsylvania Conference for Women. While at Colgate she received the President’s Award, wrote for the Colgate Maroon, and was a founding member of the Colgate Basketball cheerleading team. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English/Fine Arts.
