The Naturist Living Show

A conversation with Art Vernon, a naturist and a rabbi, who believes that social nudity does not violate his religious beliefs and traces the origins of non-sexual nudity to the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Rabbi Vernon discovered social nudity at Fire Island National Seashore about 15 years ago. In the years following, he has practiced naturism in the United States and in Israel and he relates some of his experience as the only nude bather on Israeli beaches. He has also been surprised to discover naturists among Orthodox Jews. A discussion with some of the cast-and-crew behind Naked as Created: The Pastor Jim Moore Story, a new Christian naturist feature film based on the real life of naturist pastor Jim Moore. Producer, co-writer, and actor Tim Chizmar walks through how the project grew out of a collaboration with Moore on his father’s book series. But he then saw the story potential of dramatizing Moore’s own journey about being “outed” as a nudist pastor with the backlash, and freedom, that followed. Moore, his real-life daughter Rachael Moore (who stepped into a lead role after the original actress was unable to participate), lead actor Christopher Michelli, antagonist actor Dan Hawkins, Melody Munson, and Dana Trantham each share what it took to bring the film to life on a minuscule $150,000 budget and a 12-day shoot upended by the 2025 Southern California fires. Since her first naturist experience as part of the office team at Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park in 2022, Jessica’s involvement in naturism has grown exponentially. First by going from taking a temporary seasonal job on a whim to taking a risk in making it a full-time career; but also by going well beyond mere employment to being a dedicated activist for the values of the naturist movement. Along the way, her experiences have changed her in ways she did not expect. Now she takes on responsibilities for editing and producing this podcast. In this episode, Jessica recounts her journey. Much of the issue around nudity has to do with either being seen nude or seeing others that way. Therefore naturism for a person without sight should be easier – but it is not. Accessibility for those with disabilities is a challenge throughout the world. For those who participate in naturism, it is no easier. Most beaches are in remote and difficult to access locations. Many clubs and resorts were built decades ago and have limited adaptations for disabled people. What is even more problematic is the lack of understanding from many people in the community.
