Вот распахнулись ворота богатого дома, выехал кучер и остановился у крыльца, расправляя па руках вожжи. "Это барыня сейчас поедет",-- подумал Андрей Николаевич. В дверях показалась молодая, нарядно одетая женщина и с нею сын, семилетний пузырь, с лицом таким же смуглым, как у отца, и с выражением сурового спокойствия и достоинства. Заложив руки в карманы длинного драпового пальто, маленький человечек благосклонно смотрел на вороного жеребца, горячо и нетерпеливо перебиравшего тонкими ногами, и с тем же видом величавого покоя и всеобъемлющей снисходительности, не вынимая рук из карманов, позволил горничной поднять себя и посадить в пролетку. Этого мальчика Андрей Николаевич назвал про себя "вашим превосходительством" и искренно недоумевал, неужели такие дети, как он, с врожденными погонами на плечах, родятся тем же простым способом, как и другие дети? И, когда обе женщины рассмеялись на маленького генерала, с задумчивым удивлением посмотревшего на их непонятную веселость, худенький чиновник, притаившийся у своего окна, невольно и с почтением улыбнулся. Лошадь рванула с места и ровной, крупной рысью понесла подпрыгивающий экипаж. Спрятав под передник красные руки, горничная повертелась на крыльце, сделала гримасу и скрылась за дверью. Снова опустела и затихла мокрая улица, и только отвязавшаяся ставня хлопала с таким безнадежным видом, точно просила, чтобы кто-нибудь вышел и привязал ее. Но покривившийся домик точно вымер. Раз только за его окном мелькнуло бледное женское лицо, но и оно не было похоже на лицо живого человека.

With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it's too late proves shockingly comical -- what will it take to get the world to just look up?!

Это значило, что мальчик недостаточно быстро подал воду и его ждет наказание. "Так их и следует", -- думал посетитель, кривя голову набок и созерцая у самого своего носа большую потную руку, у которой три пальца были оттопырены, а два другие, липкие и пахучие, нежно прикасались к щеке и подбородку, пока туповатая бритва с неприятным скрипом снимала мыльную пену и жесткую щетину бороды.

The short story 'A Bad Business' written by Russian classical writer Anton Chekhov is a ghost story comprised of mostly dialog.

In his Notebook I (page 47) Chekhov summarised the plot for "Anna on the Neck", then yet to be written: "A poor girl, gymnasium student, with five brothers, marries a rich state official who counts every single piece of bread, demands from her subserviance and gratitude, is scornful of her relatives... She endures all this, trying not to argue with him, so as not to fall back into destitude again. Then the invitation to the ball comes. Here she causes furore. An important person gets infatuated with her, makes her his lover... Now, seeing how her husband's chiefs fawn before her, at home she's full of disdain: 'Go away you fool!' " The actual story's plot is similar, except that Anna here is much older (she remembers her gymnasium years as belonging to her 'childhood past'), and has two brothers. The story's title is a double-entendre, having to do with the Order of Saint Anna and the methods of its wear. Anna's husband Modest Alexeyich has just received the 2nd class OSA, a cross which was supposed to be worn on the neck.
