As a retired US Coast Guard officer I would be remiss if I did not note that over 1000 Coasties have received the award since WW2. The USCG is an armed military service at all times.
Cornelius Mountainweasel show credit. Hahaha I heard that!
After the show signed off, I was fooled into thinking there was a technical glitch that caused the recording to start over. thankfully I was not caught in a decade long Loop of listening to this episode over and over.

Good episode. It would also be interesting to hear an episode about the Baltic countries' fight for independence from their forced occupation by Russia after WWII, notably the events around the Baltic Way 675-km long human chain protest in 1989.
I didn't know about Frederick Douglass and so glad I now finally do! thanks Gary!
Wasn't he also the young doctor on "LOST" ?
8:37 … But Kudzu was wanted. The US Government brought it here with the ideas of preventing erosion.
