They recently developed a new curriculum for their workshop “Appreciating Diverse Bodies in Pole Dance” (first offered on Dr. Jen Crane’s platform MyFlex) to share teaching practices they developed to improve the safety and inclusivity of pole instruction. Further, Ryker hopes to shift traditional teaching mindsets from viewing differences as deficits to seeing how differences in bodies can be appreciated and used to create new skills. Jody graduated with a master’s degree in pure mathematics from UCSC. They wrote the paper Torsion of Elliptic Curves over Quadratic Fields with their research. Pole on the Call: Season 2, Episode 3 Aerial Arts Fitness in Jewett City, CT In this episode, Cris Rivers & Mændy Mac interview the owners of Aerial Arts Fitness in Jewett City, CT and get a tour of their pole and aerial studio. Let us know how you like our episode and share with a pole friend! More About Aerial Arts Fitness: In 2012, a friend called me and said she wanted to try pole dancing and would I come with her. She said I was the ONLY person she could think of adventurous enough to try it. Well, I tried it and was instantly hooked. Something about this art form grabbed hold of me and wouldn’t let go. The power, strength and beauty of the women in the class blew me away and I knew this wasn’t just a passing hobby. We opened our first studio later that year and little did I know then that I would find a whole new family of like-minded women and men. People who pole aren’t looking for a traditional gym workout. They are looking for something challenging mentally and physically and something fun! Pole is a form of athletic expression unlike anything else. I truly believe that as physical strength and health grows, so does emotional strength. I am amazed every day watching my students blossom into confident, happy, healthy people. Find something you love and it’s no longer a workout. It’s play, it’s art, it’s fitness —Angela Chabot Founder Our two room studio offers 40 classes a week. Our pole room has 10 poles with heated floors. We just purchased a XFly pole this past month. In our aerial room we offer hammock, silks, Lyra, static trapeze, lollipop, aerial moon. Pole on the Call: Season 2, Episode 2Meet Pole Coach & Studio Owner, Emily Aygun! In this episode, Cris Rivers & Mændy Mac interview Emily Aygun, Pole Coach and owner of Altius Pole Studio in Bend, Oregon.Let us know how you like our episode and share with a pole friend!Emily Aygun's Bio: My name is Emily Aygun, and I am a pole studio owner in Bend, OR who opened our doors in the midst of the pandemic in 2021. We are a trauma-informed pole studio space that focuses on progressive & accessible pole for all identities, sexes and people. All of our instructors have gone through a trauma-informed pole instructor training and we have become a safe space and haven for a lot of people especially during COVID. Having gone through a large amount of trauma within my life time and developing CPTSD and later being diagnosed with ADHD in my 30s, I found that pole dancing had become an incredible outlet not only for me to use movement expression as a form of therapy, but also an incredible way for me to utilize vestibular movement to help control my ADHD.My goal with pole dancing and my studio is to give a voice to everyone who enters my space or trains with me as a form of self expression and to release parts of ourself we didn’t even know we needed to. My background stems from being a personal trainer and corrective exercise specialist for 15 years, specializing in watching and identifying incorrect movement patterns and helping break the mold on how exercises are not a one size fits all.I’ve worked extensively with all different body types and ailments to help my students and clients achieve their fitness goals by finding new and individual pathways to achieve their goals (and/or) moves. It’s easy for us to get a weekend certification and learn how to teach a ballerina. But can you teach it to all body types? That is what I do! www.altiuspolestudio.comInsta: @pnwpoledancer@altiuspolestudioTik tok: @pnwpoledancerTrauma Informed Pole Course: https://cpfa.thinkific.com/courses/introduction-to-trauma-informed-pole-instruction-with-samantha-king --------- Free free to Follow us and Tag us on Instagram@poleonthecall Or email us for advice, comments, questions you would like us to answer on here and more at poleonthecall@gmail.comOr you can visit or Website for more Episodes, Free Stuff, Courses and more at www.poleonthecall.comFor that free E Book and 7 Day Free E-Course Visit here!!https://www.poleonthecall.com/shopBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-pole-on-the-call--5317694/support.

Pole on the Call Podcast — Season 4 Best Practices for Pole Studio Owners, with Lauren of Sky High Studios In this episode, Cris Rivers & Mændy Mac interview Lauren, Owner of Sky High Studios in MA in this special second interview to complete part 2 of our Best Practice series when the topic is about Pole Studio Owners. DISCLAIMER: I am not a Legal/Financial/HR Professional. You should consult one before making any changes to your business. All the information I have has been learned through research required to conduct my own business and to correct mistakes I’ve made. The purpose is not to scare other business owners, but to educate to strengthen the pole industry as a whole. Things every employee should remember: Pole is a largely unregulated industry and is generally lumped in with gyms/fitness centers when it comes to industry classifications. Most business owners are just trying to do their best. We usually have to be all things to our business and can’t know everything all the time. Have empathy and try to work with your studio as much as possible to resolve questions and issues. All fields have business owners who do shady shit. Be as knowledgeable as you can to protect yourself (regardless of any job you have). Helpful Documents & Checklists for Pole Teachers & Studio Owners: https://drive.google.com/drive... BIO: I’m Lauren and owner of Sky High Studios. I opened the studio in 2013 to provide a safe and supportive environment for those who wanted to experience pole dance. I started in 2010 after a long illness and I needed something that wasn’t the gym to help me regain strength and confidence in myself. I found that not only through pole dance, but through the people I met, many to this day who are still my closest friends. I started teaching in 2011 and decided to open my own studio with the vision to offer people the same life changing experience I had. Today, my favorite pole things are rolling around on the floor, telling people they need more booty into their pole moves, and breaking movements down to small bits that help people gain strength and confidence in their movement. And freestyling. Did I mention more booty? I believe that everyone has in them an authentic, expressive self, and I want to help every student find that within. BIO: I started pole as a form of practicing self love. As a single traveling mom this became a space for me to let out all my emotions. It gives me a stage to show my creativity and also gain strength at the same time. Doing this has challenged my flexibility, strength and mobility. I love the pole community because they are always accepting of your journey. This is something I look forward to continue to do no matter where I land.
