Episode 1: Pigman

Episode 1: Pigman

2022-01-0357:02

On Legend’s very first episode Samm shares with Amy her very own local legend. In 1913 a man by the name of William Derrecks was born with Frontonasal Dysplasia which caused him to have severe facial abnormalities and intellectual disabilities. Already born into a family with a history of involvement with tragic events; he had to endure the scrutiny of the village of Angola, New York which pushed him into reclusion. Did he truly become the monster the village believed him to be, a creature hellbent on terrorizing the local youths who used Holland Road as their Lovers Lane or was he simply a misunderstood man hiding from the prying eyes of a closed minded society? Samm shares her experiences growing up around this legend along with sharing her dad’s own experiences during a time when this legend was in the forefront of everyone’s mind. If you are from Angola, New York and also grew up with Pigman’s urban legend and have a story to share, whether it be your very own experience or a different version of the urban legend itself, we would love to hear from you! On Anastasia Island tragedy is certainly no stranger to the over 147 year old lighthouse located on the coast of St. Augustine, Florida. From its humble beginnings as a Spanish look out tower that eventually toppled into the sea to the now impressively tall present day lighthouse that was moved slightly inland; it’s had its fair share of heartbreak and sorrow. From war to accidental deaths, this lighthouse is the perfect breeding ground for the supernatural. Want to play a friendly game of hide and seek with spirits from the afterlife or maybe feel the ominous presence of “The Man in Blue”? You’ll find it all at the St. Augustine Lighthouse. If you are from St. Augustine, Florida and have a story to share, whether it be your very own paranormal experience or a different twist on any of the tragic stories throughout the lighthouse’s history, we would love to hear from you! In an area where people go missing at the twice the rate of the national average, most scramble to create a reason for it. Sure, the harsh terrain and weather could definitely have a role in it but have you ever considered the possibility of 8 feet tall ottermen? From a missing prominent House Majority Leader to a deadly landslide; dive in with Samm and Amy as they discuss the Kushtaka from Tlingit folklore and learn why you should never trust an otter at face value. Hope you have your copper, urine, and fire at hand because you never know when you just might need it. If you are from The Alaskan Triange and grew up with the Kushtaka legend and have a story to share, whether it be your very own experience or a different version of the legend itself, we would love to hear from you! Episode 4: Champ

Episode 4: Champ

2022-01-03--:--

On the 4th episode Samm is back at it with another home town story from her mom’s side of the aisle. Samm and Amy discuss the very cryptic cryptid, Champ.  In one of the biggest lakes of the United States a sea monster lurks just beneath the surface.
Episode 5: Skinwalker Ranch

Episode 5: Skinwalker Ranch

2022-01-1001:05:49

On the 5th episode of Legend, Samm and Amy discuss the bizarre occurrences at Skinwalker Ranch. Southeast of Ballard, Utah sits a secluded ranch that seems to be a hot spot for all types of activity. Aptly named after the Skinwalkers of Navajo legend, the ranch attracts paranormal investigators and UFO hunters alike. Unfortunately for the the Shermans however, this place has it all- paranormal activity, UFO activity (cows and all), portals, and cryptids... and they couldn’t wait to leave. Of course a story of this magnitude wouldn’t be complete without government involvement and a few billionaires as well. If you’re tired of running in circles (insert Post Malone joke here) for the perfect story, Samm and Amy have found it for you.  If you are from the Uintah Basin or Utah and have a story to share, whether it be your very own experience or a different version of the events we discuss, we would love to hear from you! Please fill out the form on the “Contact Us” link on our website at thisislegendpod.com or email us directly as thisislegendpod@gmail.com.

Stop being just a believer, get out there and become an experiencer!
On episode 6 of Legend, Samm and Amy explore the history of the San Fernando Cathedral and The Alamo.   In 1731 a beautiful cathedral was erected in current day San Antonio, Texas and with it came mystery and intrigue. With a creepy past of burying the dead within the walls and floors of the cathedral, 205 years after its creation remains were found under the altar. Some believe they belonged to the heroes of The Battle for the Alamo while other vehemently disagree. Whether you think so or not the unknown remains are still displayed within a sarcophagus inside the cathedral. Constantly listed as one of the most haunted placed in the United States the San Fernando Cathedral and the Alamo do not disappoint. From apparitions of long ago soldiers to a white stallion, the haunts of these two historical locations are sure to help you “Remember the Alamo!”   If you are from San Antonio, Texas and have a story to share, whether it be your very own paranormal experience or additional information about the San Fernando Cathedral or The Alamo, we would love to hear from you!   Please fill out the form on the “Contact Us” link on our website at thisislegendpod.com or email us directly as thisislegendpod@gmail.com.

Never surrender!
On this weeks episode of Legend Samm and Amy talk clowns!  Picture it- it’s the early 90s- you’re walking down the street in your Doc Martins, with your Sony Discman, trying to keep your damn Tamagotchi alive when out of the corner of your eye you see a clown chilling inside a white van… or was it black? Doesn’t matter. You’ve heard the rumors going around. Kids every where are terrified. Clowns are running amok. They’re luring children into their vans with the promise of candy or even money… and do you know what happens once you’re inside? You’re dead.  Listen as Samm and Amy go case by case through the late 80s all the way to the 2010s and discuss the hysteria and urban legends that surround the surprising amount of clown sightings throughout the last several decades. You’ll even hear a personal story from Samm’s childhood that can confirm the creep factor of clowns.   Homey Don’t Play That…
On episode 8, Samm and Amy talk about the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum! In the 1800s a psychologist with a good heart named Thomas Story Kirkbride developed a plan to create better asylums that catered more towards improving the mental health of those who stayed at them. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Due to overcrowding, dried up food sources, and the poor treatment of patients the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum became more of a torture den instead of the bright, open, and welcoming facility it was intended to be. Supposedly, there have been over 20,000 deaths that occurred within its walls. Listen in as we discuss the reasons why you may have been committed in the first place (hint, we all would have been), the tragic murders that took place, and discuss the spirits who still linger.   Mommy…

Make sure it’s either on Halloween or the Spring Equinox or you might miss your chance! Episode 10: Pukwudgie

Episode 10: Pukwudgie

2022-02-14--:--

On the tenth episode of Legend, Samm and Amy discuss the Pukwudgie!  What is a Pukwudgie, you might ask? Imagine a small gremlin-esque creature with a canine-like snout and an excess of body hair. Of course their visage changes from tribe to tribe. They originate from Native American folklore and these little guys range in demeanor from silly and playful to downright tricksters that will lead you to your death. Lets not forget their rules of etiquette as well. They’re staunch believers in respect. Do not stare or turn your noses up at them or you just might regret it. If you don’t think they’re capable of taking you out, know that they managed to supposedly take out a giant, and not just any giant… a god. Listen as Samm and Amy dive deep into Native American folklore and also have their very first special guest! Lindsy, who is Amy’s sister, sits down with us and tells us about her very own personal encounter with a Pukwudgie!  Fool me once, shame on you… fool me twice, shame on me…
On episode 11 of Legend, Samm and Amy cover the Stanley Hotel!  When a prominent automobile maker ends up with tuberculosis in the 1900s he seeks “treatment” in a small town in the Rocky Mountains called Estes Park. Miraculously, he is actually cured of tuberculosis using the methods of the time! He fell in love with Estes Park and decided to build the now infamous Stanley Hotel with the intended purpose of curing others of tuberculosis and making Estes Park more of a tourist destination. Not even he, however, would guess the level of fame and fear this hotel would garnish. Thanks to the iconic Steven King staying for inspiration and a whirlwind of paranormal activity, the Stanley has dominated almost all “Most Haunted Places” lists. Have you ever wanted to meet a friendly deceased cowboy or hear the beautiful notes of a piano played by a phantom? The Stanley will deliver this and much much more.   Listen in as Samm and Amy talk all the frights and delights the Stanley has to offer.    “Here’s Johnny!”
Episode 12: Slenderman

Episode 12: Slenderman

2022-02-28--:--

Have you ever received an unexpected knock at the door late at night that sent a shiver down your spine?
On the 14th episode of Legend Samm tells Amy about the infamous Dybbuk Box. It’s not a dick in a box… it’s a demon in a box. A dybbuk to be more precise, and honestly it’s unclear if it’s a disembodied spirit or demon. To Kevin Mannis, its most likely a demon haunting his wine cabinet turned dybbuk box. Are you in the market for a box that smells like jasmine or sometimes cat urine? Maybe one that will break all your lights, scare off your employees, and give your mom a stroke? No? Us either. On Part 1 Samm reads Kevin Mannis’ eBay ad for his haunted wine cabinet and discusses where it goes from there. Make sure you move on to Part 2!
On Part 2 of the Dybbuk Box Samm tells Amy about a different Dybbuk Box!  On part one we left off with Jason Haxton and how he sold his story to Lion’s Gate. Of course the Dybbuk Box ends up in none other than Zak Bagan’s hands. Samm explains to Amy what happens when Zak Bagan’s and Post Malone (an episode cannot be complete without Post Malone) investigate the box and then what happens a few years later when Zak investigates it during quarantine. Listen as Samm delves deep into the creepy experiences of Chris Chambers as he opens a Dybbuk Box he got off the dark web. Pure mayhem ensues!  Stay off the dark web kids!

Ep 17: Pinky Pinky

2022-04-04--:--

On the 17th episode of Legend, it is Amy’s first time on research and boy did she pick a messy story, the Legend of Pinky Pinky. Have you ever wondered why girls insist on having a friend come with them when they go to a public restroom? Sure we might say it’s to borrow make-up, or gossip, maybe even to get wardrobe help, but is that really the reason or are we covering for a fear of what might happen to us if we go alone? This legend has some very scary roots that range from a countries revolution, to an increasing crime rate, all the way to bigotry and discrimination. Don’t miss the South African legend of Pinky Pinky and don’t forget to leave your pink underwear at home!

Are you curious as to who is haunting your home? Lorraine had the low down as a trance medium. Although they have both passed on, they remain an important part of paranormal history. Learn about some of the famous cases the Warrens have been involved with along with the controversy that surrounds them with Samm and Amy. Remember: Donate to an animal shelter in lieu of flowers. Rest in peace.

This one is definitely no exception. From terrifying sexual assaults to voices, shadows, and even other worlds, you never know what you could be moving into. Did the Snedekers really know that they were moving into an old funeral home? Was this all just a ploy to garner sympathy and money for their eldest son’s cancer treatments? Or… was something dark really lurking in the in the home? The Warrens would have us believe that it is demonic.   Find out, as we discuss the ins and outs of this terrifying story.   “Make it up if you have to. Just make it scary.”
