“Will my baby suffer?" This question haunts so many of us through the TFMR baby loss process - whether we're facing the decision right now or wrestling with it months or years later. It's the question that keeps you up at 2am, the one that makes your chest tight, the one nobody else seems to understand why it matters so very deeply. In this tender solo episode, I share how my daughter Clara came to me in a dream when I asked her this exact question. I talk about how we're STILL parenting our babies through the veil, how ending suffering was an act of protection, and how peace became possible when I was finally seen as the mother I am. If you're asking yourself "will they suffer" or "did they suffer," this episode is for you.RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:Decision Support Calls with Sabrina: https://www.thetfmrdoula.com/decision-support.htmlOne-on-one TFMR grief support, email Sabrina: sabrina [at] theTFMRdoula [dot] com to get started🎙 Want to share your story on the podcast?Email Sabrina to be featured on the podcast: sabrina [at] theTFMRdoula [dot] comMusic credit:Pamgaea by Kevin MacLeodCreative Commons LicenseMusic link: https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=usuan1300036 License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Are you struggling with shame about your TFMR? In Part 2 of 2, Emily Cross opens up about the years she spent lying about her hyperemesis gravidarum TFMR, telling people she miscarried instead of admitting she "chose" abortion. When Emily's third pregnancy resulted in her son Marty, who lived four precious weeks before dying of SIDS, everything changed. Suddenly finding herself in baby loss communities, Emily realized something profound: she qualified. Her TFMR was ALSO real baby loss, deserving of the same grief and support as any other loss.Emily shares how losing Marty gave her permission to finally grieve her first baby without shame, why there's no hierarchy in baby loss, and how finding her place in the baby loss community changed everything about how she saw her TFMR experience.LINKS MENTIONED:Read Emily’s story in this Boston Globe articleMORE TFMR GRIEF SUPPORT RESOURCES:Send me an email at sabrina @ the tfmr doula . com to get 1on1 support/ a support call. Are you facing TFMR due to Hyperemesis gravidarum? Emily Cross shares her experience as a mom who survived two life-threatening HG pregnancies - one ending in TFMR, one resulting in a baby who lived four weeks before dying of SIDS. Listen in to hear how ALL our impossible decisions still make us GOOD mothers.Emily's first pregnancy started magical (positive test in Paris on New Year's Eve) but quickly became a fight for survival when severe hyperemesis gravidarum left her unable to keep down even water. After losing 20% of her body weight, French doctors still told her "pregnancy isn't an illness" and forced a 7-day wait period. Her privilege allowed her to fly to England for immediate care - a choice that saved her life.If you're googling "hyperemesis gravidarum TFMR" at 2am, this episode is your lighthouse. Emily shares the moment she knew she had to choose her own survival, what it really feels like when the pregnancy illness stops the second you become "unpregnant," and how she found her way from shame to community after years of not having words for her experience.LINKS MENTIONED:Read Emily’s story in this Boston Globe articleMORE TFMR GRIEF SUPPORT RESOURCES:Send me an email at sabrina @ the tfmr doula . com to get 1on1 support/ a support call. You're not broken if you’re doing all the “right” self-care things and something still feels like it’s missing after TFMR baby loss. If you're still feeling lonely despite all the bubble baths and journaling, there's nothing wrong with you. You're just needing the other half of healing: community care.In this solo episode, I share why individual self-care can only take TFMR grief so far, and why community care - especially with other TFMR parents - changes everything. When you're carrying thoughts and feelings that regular grief groups just don't understand, you need people who can remind you of your goodness, your motherhood, and that you're not losing your mind. We were never meant to grieve alone, and the healing happens faster, deeper, and more completely when we hold it together in community. There’s still time to join our upcoming GRIEF CIRCLE (starting Sep. 24th! 7pm) if this is the community you’ve been looking for, waiting for. You're not alone in holding impossible questions as a TFMR parent. If you’ve lost a baby to termination for medical reasons and ever found yourself yourself pacing your house asking "am I a monster?" or lying awake wondering "does anyone actually understand?" then this episode is for you.In this episode, I share why these questions can't be answered in isolation and where to find the community that understands why you're asking them in the first place:“Will my baby suffer?””Am I a monster?””How do I survive?””Does anyone understand?”…the questions that haunt TFMR moms and dads.Because the crux of TFMR grief isn't just losing your baby - it's carrying questions so profound that only other parents who've made this impossible choice can truly hold them with you.TFMR GRIEF CIRCLE PROGRAM:If you're longing for intimate, ongoing group support, apply now for the Ascend TFMR Grief Circle💜 Small, intimate groups of 5–6 people💬 Honest conversation, healing practices, and community support🌿 Next Wed. 7pm Eastern time round begins Sep. 24th & 25th 2025👉 Learn more & apply: http://www.theTFMRdoula.com/ascend-applyMORE TFMR GRIEF SUPPORT RESOURCES:www.thetfmrdoula.com/resources to see guides, meditations, courses and current group offerings🎙 Want to share your story?Email Sabrina to be featured on the podcast: sabrina [at] theTFMRdoula [dot] comMusic credit:Pamgaea by Kevin MacLeodCreative Commons LicenseLinks: https://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=usuan1300036License: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
You might be wondering if you belong in a TFMR grief circle. Maybe you're questioning whether your story fits, whether your diagnosis was "severe enough," or whether you'll connect with other parents who made this impossible choice. The truth is, if you're asking these questions, you probably do belong here. The parents who join our TFMR grief circles share something profound - we're all mothers and fathers who chose to end suffering, even when the world doesn't understand that choice. You followed your heart and survival through the most impossible decision love has ever asked of you.Beyond that sacred shared experience, the parents who thrive in our circles tend to be busy but appreciate structure, they are naturally resilient (even when you don't feel it), and deeply kind - both to others and, we hope, eventually to yourselves.Whether you have living children or are trying to conceive again, whether your diagnosis was chromosomal or structural, for you or baby, whether you're weeks or years out from your loss - your story matters here. You matter here.TFMR GRIEF CIRCLE PROGRAM:If you're longing for intimate, ongoing group support, apply now for the Ascend TFMR Grief Circle💜 Small, intimate groups of 5–6 people💬 Honest conversation, healing practices, and community support🌿 Next Wed. 7pm Eastern time round begins Sep. 24th & 25th 2025👉 Learn more & apply: http://www.theTFMRdoula.com/ascend-applyWant early access to new podcast episodes and a chance to ask questions live? When TFMR parents find out about Ascend, they don't ask about the curriculum or the healing frameworks. They ask: "Will there be other people like me? Can I finally say everything out loud? Will someone understand when I talk about my baby?"Other parents like you share what they're most looking forward to in our grief circle: They were about connection in this tough abortion baby loss, having permission to speak their baby's name without explaining themselves and being able to SHARE their TFMR stories without judgement.TFMR GRIEF CIRCLE PROGRAM:If you're longing for intimate, ongoing group support, apply now for the Ascend TFMR Grief Circle💜 Small, intimate groups of 5–6 people💬 Honest conversation, healing practices, and community support🌿 Next Wed. 7pm Eastern time round begins Spe. 24th 2025👉 Learn more & apply: http://www.theTFMRdoula.com/ascend-apply....Want early access to new podcast episodes and a chance to ask questions live? If the back-to-school season has you feeling like you’re drowning, this episode is for you.If September is hitting you like a freight train of grief, you're not imagining alone. Even if your baby's condition was fatal, even if you live somewhere without fall school starts - this season carries a weight that others can't see. The anger, the longing, the guilt over feeling joy while grieving the school years that will never come for THIS BABY…all of those feelings are valid, and all of it makes perfect sense. There's a reason why back-to-school grief cuts so deep for TFMR families, and it has everything to do with a truth about love that death can't touch. When you understand what's really happening in your heart during these triggered moments, the pain doesn't disappear, but finally, FINALLY, it makes sense. Rebecca Little and Colleen Long join us to discuss their powerful book "I'm Sorry for My Loss: An Urgent Examination of Reproductive Care in America." Rebecca and Colleen are two lifelong friends and both journalists who've experienced devastating pregnancy losses. This book is an investigation into why reproductive care in America is so broken; their findings are both heartbreaking and essential.Rebecca experienced six pregnancies: 2 uneventful pregnancies of her oldest living kids followed by chemical pregnancy, missed miscarriage at 8 weeks, stillbirth in 2014 and TFMR of twins at 23 weeks for a fatal heart condition, followed by a life-threatening uterine rupture that nearly killed her. Colleen lost her first baby to stillbirth in 2012 and has two living kids. Together, they've created the book they wish they'd had: one that doesn't just offer comfort, but also asks the hard questions:Why are we so bad at grief? Why is our language so limited? Why aren't we even researching women's reproductive health? This conversation goes deep into the impossible navigation of TFMR grief when neither "pro-choice" nor "pro-life" language fits your experience. We explore how “the myth of control over pregnancy” leaves families isolated when things go wrong, and why having language that fits your loss can be life-changing.RESOURCES MENTIONED IN THIS EPISODE:For more on their book, find Rebecca and Colleen here: https://www.alittlelong.com/And on Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/imsorryformylossbook/Get the book here: https://bookshop.org/p/books/i-m-sorry-for-my-loss-undoing-our-cultural-ignorance-around-pregnancies-that-end-without-a-baby-rebecca-little/20974919 or here: https://www.amazon.com/Im-Sorry-Loss-Examination-Reproductive/dp/1728292786MORE TFMR GRIEF SUPPORT RESOURCES:www.thetfmrdoula.com/resources to see guides, meditations, courses and current group offerings🎙 Want to share your story?Email Sabrina to be featured on the podcast: sabrina [at] theTFMRdoula [dot] comMusic credit:Pamgaea by Kevin MacLeodCreative Commons LicenseLinks: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4193-pamgaeaLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

After my baby was gone that glass made me feel ill just looking at it. I wanted to smash it on the floor, run away from it and simultaneously enshrine it as a tiny memory with her - but it was wrapped in in SO MUCH PAIN.The triggers come from the pain, this ache, this desire and longing for our baby, but pop up at the LEAST convenient time. When you just want to drink a coffee and put on some pants in PEACE!!!I found that talking about the triggers in therapy, writing about them, thinking about how I could fix them logically, did not help. There's a direct line to the triggers, and it's in a place you can tap into -in the moment - to come back to your center too: the body. After I learned how to do this, I was able to drink coffee again, see pregnant bellies, even go to the gynecologist, without panic attacks and falling down on the ground in a bundle of tears.I'm going to show you how I do this in Taming TFMR Triggers, a workshop I am putting together for you and holding LIVE on Monday, February 10th.Here's the link again to sign upwww.thetfmrdoula.com/triggers ($11 USD) live or catch the replay after Feb. 10th‌….And if you would like to shareyour TFMR Story on "Our TFMR Stories," email me here to find out more: sabrina at theTFMRdoula dot comAnd for more support follow atwww.instagram.com/thetfmrdoulaMusic clip:Pamgaea by Kevin MacLeodLink:https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/4193-pamgaeaLicense:http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
