You might get a little confused when you hear Ben talking about PK in this episode, thinking he's talking about the delicious PK Gold or Peppermint chewies that you probably can't get anymore but what kind of Australian Rock n Roll podcast would this be if we sat around discussing delicious chewies all day? So we decided to tackle the other PK - Paul Kelly! And just as you can't eat a whole packet of PK Golds in one go (I've tried), we're going to cover Paul's prolific output in 3 goes!
Sunnyboys have been the number one requested band for us to cover here at Oz Rock Rated and as you, our dear friends, know: we're here for you! Sunnyboys were also the number one requested iceblock at the Cowra pool in the summer of 1986... not only because of their terrific flavour and icy texture, but they made a handy weapon say if some gangster was dissin' your fly girl while you were going off the board perfecting your horsies.
Johnny Diesel & the Injectors 1989 self-titled debut album is so ingrained in the Oz Rock Rated boys brains that they went into this without any notes! Talk about seat of your pants podcasting! Legendary Oz Rock band Men At Work had one really great album called Business As Usual.... now before you @ us @ozrockrated we realise they also had a second really great album called Cargo and because Two & Done is not a catchy title, we decided to do this as a two-parter. I mean, come on, it's Men At Work ffs!
Goannas are beautiful big lizards that like to scare the poop out of you when you go to lean on a tree and the bark starts moving. Goanna is a terrific Oz Rock band that Ben and Sam like to yarn about in front of microphones and in front of VIDEO CAMERAS nowadays! By all means please continue listening to Oz Rock Rated in podcast form but also head on over to our YouTube channel to watch it in YouTube form!
Welcome to Oz Rock Rated's bonus format - One & Done! Our usual format involves trawling through an Oz Rock band's entire catalogue; but what if a band only has a couple of albums? One & Done covers ONE album extensively along with the usual banter and trips down memory lane with your hosts Ben and Sam. Episode 1 - SKYHOOKS!
Late in 1983, Hunters & Collectors had briefly disbanded, but soon reformed. Mark Seymour's explanation as to why the group had reconvened: "we have something valuable to offer the Australian music scene". Episode 8 - The Fauves

Episode 8 - The Fauves

2023-01-0202:10:41

If you've ever been in a band then you'll relate to these wonderful words by The Fauves singer/guitarist/songwriter Andrew 'Coxy' Cox: "We learnt more about rock ‘n’ roll in that one night than the entire preceding 20 years. We sucked piss, made eyes at the cheap football tarts and bonded like four buckets of superglue. We also learnt how to compromise, how to sell out, and how to get fucked over. There was no rider, we were underpaid and no one got laid. It was a microcosm of an entire career." If you're not already a fan of The Fauves, we 100% iron-clad guarantee you will be after you join us as we go through 12 studio albums. If you are a fan, sit back and nod your head in agreement as we do what we do here at Oz Rock Rated!
