John Higgins is a British comics artist renowned for his work on 2000AD, Watchmen and Batman:  The Killing Joke.  Rutvig discusses with Higgins his incredible decades long career in comics.   Whilst this interview was originally recorded mid 2018, it leads us into Rutvig's new From Page to Screen series, where he will examine books and their film counterparts in real time, starting next week with the animated film Batman:  The Killing Joke.  Make sure you have both your copy of the graphic novel and the film lined up and ready.  And even if you don't, either way, it should be an interesting series, looking at how well the work translates across mediums. You can learn more about John Higgins' work here: http://artofjohnhiggins.com  Enjoy!
This week, Rutvig chats with Hollywood stuntman, actor and magician Matthew Stirling.  Matthew has worked on some of the biggest films to date, including the more recent Disney Star Wars films, and has also appeared on Britain's Got Talent.   Listen to Matt talk about his incredibly varied work in the industry. You can view Matt's filmography here: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1946831/  and here: http://www.stirlingstunts.co.uk  Enjoy.
In this impromptu episode, Rutvig reacts (sort of) to the recent Kanye West appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast, and West's comments about Star Wars and the Hero's Journey.   Amongst the various ramblings, Rutvig recounts some early fancy dress costumes, as well as reciting passages from Joseph Campbell's book The Hero with a Thousand Faces (with little understanding of much of it).  He also tries to relate elements of the book, as best he can, to the beginning chapters of each Star Wars trilogy; Episode 4: A New Hope, Episode 1: The Phantom Menace and Episode 7:  The Force Awakens. Next week, we'll return to our 'regular format' with an interview with Hollywood (and Star Wars) stuntman (and Britain's Got Talent star) Matthew Stirling.
This week's episode sees host Rutvig Vaid talking with artist Joe Corroney, who's widely know for his work on the Star Wars license, as well as Star Trek and Doctor Who among others.  They discuss Corroney's career, his work with Lucasfilm and and on the Star Wars franchise, as well as some chat about the DCEU and the supposed JJ Abrams cut of The Rise of Skywalker. Enjoy!
In this week's episode, Rutvig catches up with actor Keith De'Winter.  They reminisce about the Star Wars Episode 8 The Last Jedi (aka Space Bear) wrap party as well as talk about Keith's varied acting career, where Keith recalls landing the job on The Force Awakens and his first day going in for fittings.
Welcome to Star Wars Topps Artists Episode 2: Revenge of the Fifth!  Or is it Sixth?  I don't know, you decide. In this second episode celebrating 'Star Wars Day', host Rutvig Vaid talks to more fellow Topps sketchcard artists Barry 'Baz' Renshaw and Matthew Stewart about their education, art careers and their love of Star Wars.
In this special episode, host Rutvig Vaid talks with fellow Star Wars Topps Sketchcard Artists Kevin B. Cleveland, Jamie Richards and Danny M. Kidwell. They chat all things art, Star Wars and sketchcards. May the Fourth Be With You.
Join host Rutvig Vaid as he talks with British filmmaker Adam J. Spinks (Spaceman, Carrion, Extinction) about making films on no-to-low budget, the trials and tribulations of the festival circuit and Adam's recently released short, Like Glass (available now on Amazon).
In this belated Top 5 of 2019 episode, host Rutvig Vaid waxes lyrical about his fave films of last year, as well as introducing a couple more lists including his 'Don't Care List'!  Listen as he moans about stuff, gushes about stuff and generally warbles on as per usual.  Films talked about include Terminator: Dark Fate, Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, Shazam, Booksmart, Stuber, Jay & Silent Bob Reboot and many more.   This ep may be a couple of months late, but it's worth the wait... ...though probably not.
After another long hiatus, Rutvig is back with another episode of The Screening Room.   In this episode, Rutvig talks about the Mike Edmonds (Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Time Bandits) biopic, Under the Radar:  The Mike Edmonds Story and shares a recording of the Q&A session that followed the films' premier at Raindance Film Festival last month in London's West End.  The film features interviews with Colin Firth (Kingsman, Bridget Jones' Diary), Arti Shah (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Guardians of the Galaxy), Danny John Jules (Red Dwarf), Simon J. Frith (Director), Producer extraordinaire Robert Watts (the original Star Wars and Indiana Jones Trilogies) and Michael Palin (Monty Python) to name but a few. Enjoy!
In this week's episode of The Screening Room, Rutvig Vaid talks to James Burns of JediNewsUK about last April's convention, Star Wars Celebration Chicago.  They discuss the teaser for Star Wars Episode 9:  The Rise of Skywalker and James talks about the new Disney Land attraction Galaxy's Edge, as well as the panels for Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, the game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen order amongst other things. Enjoy!
After a longer than scheduled break, Rutvig Vaid returns to The Screening Room with British Asian Stand-up comic, actor and impressionist Anil Desai.
In the second of this 2 part tribute to artist and filmmaker Elliott Ashton, I talk to Catherine Taylor about her experience working alongside Elliott on Attack of the Aliens, and their friendship in general.   Farewell Elliott.  I'm grateful for knowing you.
In this weeks episode, I attempt to pay tribute to a friend, Elliott Ashton, who sadly passed away in September of 2018.  Elliott was a multi talented creative.  A visual artist, VFX artist, writer, director and producer.  I chat with actor and friend of Elliotts, Ben Macleod.  Ben talks of his time working on Elliotts wonderful animated short film, Attack of the Aliens which you can watch for free here: https://vimeo.com/14723720 I want to thank Ben for taking the time to talk to me to celebrate Elliott and his work.  Elliott was an incredible artist and filmmaker and we will all miss him dearly. To kick off our second series, I took my brother, Chirag Vaid to a special screening of The Room at the Prince Charles Cinema in London's Leicester Square.  In this special Valentines episode, we recorded live at the event (so please excuse the noise), sharing our expectations before hand, and our thoughts after the screening.  Did we think The Room was truly a disaster, or an absolute work of genius?  Hit play to find out! P.S.: If you've not seen the film, be warned as there are spoilers ahead.  And language!  Drunken, silly, foul language.    Enjoy.
In this, the Season Finale of The Screening Room, host Rutvig Vaid goes through his top 5 films of 2018, based on his extremely limited viewing experience this year.   The Screening Room will return in February of 2019 with Season 2, which will include interviews with British comics writer and artist, John Higgins (The Killing Joke, Watchmen, 2000AD), Hollywood graphic designer Jenn Moye (The Walking Dead, Fast & Furious 5, Spider-man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War) and commentary tracks on Robocop 2, Attack the Block and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, to name but a few. Here's to a bright and wonderful 2019 for all!
In this bonus, Christmas special episode, Rutvig Vaid talks to actress Arti Shah (Star Wars, Attack the Block, Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, Guardians of the Galaxy) about some of her fave Christmas films.  And about time too, given that they are married!
