Description

Welcome to the Action Addicts Podcast! Join me your host Scott Wiley as we take a shotgun approach to movie analysis and reviews. Each week we have a different guest co-host from genre enthusiast or expert to industry insiders, we also have our 'conversation with' interview style episodes where we allow directors, actors, stunt performers and everyone in between the opportunity to have a deep discussion on their careers or projects. This genre is near and dear to my heart and I will always bring you underappreciated gems, cult classics and completely off topic tangents.

Playing one of the villains in the new Isaac Florentine movie Hellfire, Johnny also pulls double or triple duty as the fight choreographer and part 2nd unit director. JYB is best known for his time and work on Power Rangers but in the world of DTV action he has cult classics such as Broken Path and Deathgrip to his name. This is the second of two interviews for the movie Hellfire with the first being the previous episode and it was with the director Isaac Florentine. You can find a link to our review of the movie itself down below:Link to Review HERE Hosted on Acast. Killzone, the Rurouni Kenshin film series, Flashpoint, Special ID, Raging Fire, Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In and of course the universally 'beloved' Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Kenji has also moved into directing with the successful comedy, Enter The Fat Dragon (2020) but all eyes are firmly fixed on his upcoming move The Furious which should be coming out later this year. Today we are joined by Simon Feilder from fellow action movie podcast Dodge This. We look back on the 2010 movie Scott Pilgrim vs The World, a zany and wacky flick from Edgar Wright based on the graphic novel of the same name. A stellar cast, fantastic fight scenes from Brad Allen backed up by some great visual effects. This movie may be 16 years old but it still feels very relevant and modern.Action Addicts Links: https://linktr.ee/actionaddicts Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Today we are joined by returning podcasting veteran Matt Bledsoe from the Film Feast Podcast to discuss the sequel to one of the best (and hotly debated) Christmas movies of all time, Die Hard 2. Starring Bruce Willis once again as John Mclane, this time taking our bad guys in an airport rather than a big tower. Does this one jingle our bells or do we find the sequel lacking? Listen and find out!Action Addicts Links: https://linktr.ee/actionaddicts Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Joining me this week we have a trifecta of talent that is somewhat unbelievable. Here to discuss an underappreciated movie that flew under a lot of peoples radar we have a man who is used to having people yell "KILL EM ALL!" at him as part of his daily life, it's Casper Van Dien. We have boxer turned actor and director Louis Mandylor and we have returning guest, actor turned director Brandon Slagle. We are all gathered together to discuss a 10 day torture session they all experienced which was edited together into a movie titled 'Battle for Saipan'. I loved every moment of talking to these guys and getting to speak with Casper and Louis was a huge moment for both the show and myself personally. So sit back, relax and enjoy some crazy stories, great memories, the comradery and the laughter of todays episode. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Today we sit down and spend a couple hours talking with Peter Shinkoda. Most recently starring opposite Scott Adkins in Prisoner of War, soon to be sharing the screen with Bob Odenkirk in Normal. Previously you could find him as Dai in Falling Skies, Sektor in Mortal Kombat Legacy and of course, Nobu in Netflix's Daredevil. You can also see him as Ben Takeda on Salvage Marines but we don't really talk about that one. We talk Prisoner of War, being directed by Louis. His experiences in the pandemic, the state of the industry, cultural differences of east and west, his very early work, perfecting accents and random bits in between. Hosted on Acast. This week on Action Addicts, we’re diving head-first into one of the wildest, most gloriously unhinged entries in the Cannon Films canon: American Ninja 2: The Confrontation. Michael Dudikoff and Steve James return as Armstrong and Jackson, the coolest duo to ever punch their way through an island full of ninjas. We’re talking shadowy crime lords, genetically engineered super-ninjas, beach-bar brawls, shirtless heroics, and that unmistakable Cannon energy that feels like action movie comfort food.We unpack the film’s over-the-top plot, the unmatched chemistry between Dudikoff and James, the escalation from straightforward martial arts to full-on comic-book sci-fi madness, and why this sequel has become a cult favourite for fans who want their action bold, bonkers, and blissfully sincere. Expect talk of weapon-clashing set-pieces, 80s charm, and the simple joy of watching Jackson wipe the floor with entire rooms of bad guys.We also go incredibly off topic so bare with us...Action Addicts Links: https://linktr.ee/actionaddicts Hosted on Acast. Step into the ring with Green Street 3: Never Back Down! We revisit Scott Adkins’ brutal, action-packed turn in the cult football-firm sequel — where East End loyalty meets MMA fury. From the fight choreography to the franchise’s gritty reinvention, this is a deep dive into one of Adkins’ most underrated brawlers. Or at least it would have been if my returning guest Dan Grima and I didn't go on so many tangents! Action Addicts Links: https://linktr.ee/actionaddicts Hosted on Acast.
