In most FPS titles, we see soldiers engaging in combat carrying the banners, insignias, and flags of their home countries... but the main characters of Tarkov are PMC's, which are more akin to being employees of a for-profit company, than patriotic soldiers fighting for their nation. As isolated and lonely as Tarkov may seem, one thing you’ve learned about the various big players in the region is just how well connected they are. Even some of the more unassuming dealers you perform jobs for, such as Therapist, have business dealings and acquaintances in nearly every corner of the region. But some do prefer to work alone. Sergey Arsenyevich Samoylov is one of these people. He prefers to be referred to as simply “Mechanic”, and rather than surround himself with gangsters or foreign diplomats, the Mechanic is perfectly comfortable to spend the majority of his time in his small hideout within the Chemical Factory, surrounded by his tools and computers. Almost a year ago we all got a new scav boss: Sanitar. What made him unique was that he apparently had a medical background and he could heal himself and his minions very quickly. But if we look closer at not only the quest dialogue, but also Sanitar's two different offices I think we can make a safe assumption that Sanitar isn't exactly the doctor we all thought he was and he may have had much more...humble.. origins.   We're always looking to expand upon the greater story of Escape From Tarkov so your input is highly valued. This is the little known story of the first time USEC forces opened fire on uniformed Russian Federation forces in the Tarkov timeline. Not many players really know the full story behind Escape From Tarkov. But in reality, the story and events that shape the Tarkov region have been carefully planned and crafted long before Escape From Tarkov was even a playable game. We dug deep into the backstory of EFT and found a treasure trove of history, seldom-seen concept artwork, books and novels, and developer interviews. We've taken all of this information, along with snippets from the phenomenal RAID live-action series, and created an easy-to-follow video that explains the full backstory and lore of not only Escape From Tarkov, but also some of the events the preceded it.
