#1 New Release, "The Language of Behavior" is NOW Available! ...
In this special conversation on Aspire to Lead, Joshua Stamper, Kim Gameroz, and Mitch Weathers share everything you need to know about the Thriving Educators Summit 2026 and how it was born from a desire to help teachers move from surviving to truly thriving after years of running hard and lean in schools. Listeners will hear the story behind the free virtual summit, what makes its fast paced, highly practical sessions different from typical PD, and how districts are using past summit recordings as a no cost professional learning library all year long.
The crew also spotlights Kim’s Becoming the Bison session on intentional teaching and leading, Joshua and TJ’s new leadership focused session, and the growing speaker lineup that blends inspiration with concrete next steps educators can act on immediately. Finally, they preview the in person VIBE Edu event at the ARTIC in Anaheim, California and explain how both gatherings are designed to give educators community, clarity, and energy heading into a new school year.

About Mitch Weathers:
Mitch Weathers became an exceptional educator because he once struggled as a student.
Throughout his academic journey, Mitch rarely felt comfortable in the classroom. It took him seven years to graduate from college—a reflection not of ability, but of disconnection. He often experienced education as something happening around him, not something he was actively part of. That sense of isolation fueled his desire to create a different kind of learning experience.
When Mitch became a teacher, he brought with him a deep empathy for students who felt unseen or overwhelmed. He quickly realized that before we can effectively teach content, we must first build the foundation for learning. That foundation is structure, consistency, and support.
To meet this need, Mitch created Organized Binder—a simple, research-backed system that empowers teachers to explicitly teach executive functioning skills without sacrificing instructional time. By establishing predictable learning routines, teachers foster safer, more inclusive classrooms where students gain confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.
Mitch’s mission is to equip educators with the tools to help every student succeed—not just academically, but personally.

How do you lead staff who seem stuck in their ways, resist new ideas, and quietly shut out new colleagues?
In this New Year episode of the Aspire Mailbag, Joshua Stamper and longtime co-host Jeff Gargas dig into anonymous listener questions from the Aspire Voxer community about culture, communication, and accountability.
Josh and Jeff unpack practical strategies for having hard one-on-one conversations, rebuilding trust after past leadership missteps, and balancing empathy with firm expectations so that relationships strengthen instead of fracture over time. Along the way, they reflect on six years of Mailbag episodes, the realities of initiative fatigue, and why clear communication and shared ownership in hiring and onboarding are non-negotiables for a healthy school culture.

What if social-emotional learning, culture, and instruction could move in rhythm with the real seasons of a school year instead of feeling like “one more thing” on everyone’s plate?
In this episode of Aspire to Lead, Walter McKenzie, Heather Lageman, and Leigh Alley introduce their book School Seasons xSELeratED and the xSELeratED Schools Framework, a month-by-month roadmap that helps educators care for the whole child and the whole educator with small, doable practices that fit into the flow of each month.
The trio shares how their adult-first approach to SEL honors educator wellbeing, offers 5–10 minute micro-moves that feel human rather than scripted, and uses seasonal themes, from belonging and renewal to closure and celebration, to build trusting, relationship-rich school communities over time. Whether you are a teacher, coach, or school leader, this conversation will help you see SEL less as a program and more as a sustainable way of being together that strengthens both people and practice.
About Walter McKenzie:
Walter McKenzie is the founder of The Worthy Educator, a thriving community of leaders in education supporting each other to have impact and build lasting legacies in their work. He has always embraced the heart in his work, and in the power of relationships. In joining forces with Heather and Leigh, he proudly adds his voice to their efforts to reclaim the mantel of social-emotional learning, for both students and adults.
Before retiring from ASCD, he served 25 years in Massachusetts and Virginia public schools: 14 years as a classroom teacher and 11 years as a district director and assistant superintendent. He also served as a senior training specialist for the Department of Housing and Urban Development in Washington, D.C., and its field offices around the nation. Across the span of his career, he has pursued uses of technology to support multiple paths to learning and knowing and being and doing.
In addition to his work in public education, Walter is an internationally known presenter and author. He has been instrumental in launching and leading online professional development programs and postgraduate professional education courses, and he has actively facilitated online educator communities and web-based interdisciplinary instructional projects over the past 40 years.

What if you could actually see the hidden influencers on your campus and use those connections to move culture forward instead of fighting it?
In this energizing Aspire to Lead episode, Joshua Stamper sits down with Dr. Ben Johnson, assistant superintendent and executive coach, and award-winning principal Bobby Dodd to unpack their new book, Intentional Influence, Harnessing Cultural Mapping to Build Commitment. Together, they introduce cultural mapping as a practical way to “make the invisible visible,” helping leaders identify formal and informal influencers, understand levels of commitment, and design intentional moves that build trust, belonging, and buy-in across a school or district.
Ben and Bobby walk through their three-phase process—mapping your people, reflecting on commitment and connections, and planning next steps—while sharing real stories of shifting disengagement, navigating resistance, and turning isolated talent into aligned teams that carry initiatives forward instead of waiting for top-down directives. Whether you lead a classroom, a building, or a system, this conversation offers a human-centered roadmap for using relationships as your strongest currency and building a culture where people feel seen, supported, and ready to commit to the work that matters most.

What if the strongest leaders in your school are already in the classroom and do not need a new title to make a bigger impact? In this inspiring episode of Aspire to Lead, Joshua Stamper sits down with educator, author, and department chair Dr. Chris Jochum to unpack his book You Don’t Have to Leave to Lead, that reframes teachers as highly skilled influencers, not “just” a teacher.Dr. Jochum shares how his journey from ESL and Spanish teacher to leading a large teacher education department shaped his belief that leadership is rooted in character, courage, and service, and that teachers already practice Fortune 500–level leadership every day in their classrooms. Listeners will learn how to strengthen their leadership identity, craft a personal mission statement that actually guides daily decisions, and approach conflict with adults using the same relational skills they use with students.Whether you are a first-year teacher or a veteran educator wondering about your next chapter, this conversation offers a clear first step, recognize the “superpowers” you already have and choose one small leadership behavior to intentionally grow this year so you can expand your influence without ever leaving the classroom.About Dr. Chris JochumDr. Chris Jochum currently serves as the Chair of the Department of Teacher Education at Fort Hays State University, where he leads a teacher preparation program of over 900 students. What if the difference between surviving the principalship and loving it again came down to how you spend 90 minutes of your day?
In this energizing episode of Aspire to Lead, Joshua Stamper sits down with longtime collaborators Dr. Joseph Jones and Dr. T.J. Vari from The Schoolhouse 302 to explore how their new book, Time, Tools and Tactics of Instructional Leadership, A Principal’s Guide to Leading Learning, helps leaders escape operational overload and step fully into the role of instructional leader.
Joe and T.J. share the story behind their partnership, from trail runs at White Clay Creek to blogging, keynoting, and coaching leaders across the country, all centered on one belief, iron sharpens iron and leadership should never be left to chance. They unpack practical systems like asking, “Does this need to get done now, and does it need to be done by me?”, reverse time blocking, and their AFA framework, anchor, focus, align, which together help administrators reclaim their calendars and refocus on what happens in classrooms.
Listeners will hear how nine concrete leadership systems make it realistic to visit four to six classrooms a day, deliver specific, neuroscience-informed praise, and build clarity around a small set of high-leverage “look fors” that every teacher understands and can grow toward. Whether you are an aspiring leader, a new assistant principal, or a veteran principal feeling stuck in management mode, this conversation offers a clear first step, audit your calendar, define what 50 percent instructional work could look like, and start removing the “pebbles in your shoe” that keep you from leading learning with purpose and impact.

What if the real secret to long term leadership is not endurance at all, but learning how not to lose yourself along the way?
In this standout episode of Aspire to Lead, Principal Evan Robb returns with a candid and deeply human look at what it truly means to lead for the long game. From becoming a principal at thirty two and opening a school of more than one thousand three hundred students to spending over two decades in the role, Evan shares the honest lessons that titles never teach such as overconfidence, exhaustion, rediscovering balance, and the joy that only comes when you learn to lead yourself first.
Joshua and Evan explore what sustainable leadership requires in real, everyday practice. They discuss choosing presence over busyness, building a school where leadership is shared rather than stacked on a single person, and protecting your life outside the building so you can show up grounded and focused inside it. Evan speaks openly about the boundaries that preserved his wellness, the relationships that restored his joy, and the personal belief system that guides every decision he makes.
The conversation also highlights how passion projects including writing, speaking, and podcasting can strengthen a leader’s growth when they are rooted in service and designed to create real Monday morning impact. What if behavior support wasn’t a system to manage but a promise to keep? In this inspiring episode of Aspire to Lead, Joshua Stamper and guest Tim Grivois explore how leaders can transform traditional approaches to behavior into authentic commitments to student well-being and inclusion. Drawing from his experiences as a teacher, principal, and consultant, Tim challenges the norms of PBIS and “Check-In/Check-Out” systems, offering strategies that center relationships, trust, and belonging. Together, they unpack how to empower staff through meaningful professional learning, better support students with ADHD, and model true self-care that sustains both educators and school culture.
About Tim Grivois:
Dr. Tim Grivois believes professional development should feel like a conversation about something we are building together, not a compliance exercise. After more than twenty-two years as a teacher, school leader, and now the Executive Director of TGS Educational Consulting, Tim helps schools design learning experiences that respect how adults learn and make it easier to live the learning out loud in classrooms the next day.
Through TGS, Tim partners with schools and districts across the country to simplify PBIS, Check-In/Check-Out (CICO), social-emotional learning, and ADHD-inclusive practices so they feel more human and less like paperwork. His sessions are known for being practical, relational, and fun, creating space for educators to laugh, connect, and try new ideas without fear of getting it wrong. A teacher once told him, “I was going to call out sick today, but I saw you on the calendar and decided not to.” That is the kind of PD Tim aims to create.
Tim writes and speaks about adult learning, educator wellness, behavior support, and ADHD in ways that connect research to everyday realities. He believes that when educators feel safe, seen, and trusted, they learn better, and when professional learning feels relevant and collaborative, everyone wins.
Tim lives in Tucson, Arizona, where he spends time cooking for his family, lifting heavy circles at the gym, and exploring the desert with his partner and kids. His guiding principle is simple: professional learning should honor the people doing the learning and invite everyone to live the learning out loud together.
