It would have been an epic state of mind when Janab Firaq Gorakhpuri would have made this Ghazal, Sham Bhi Thi Dhuan Dhuan, a reality, an explanation of helplessness of a lover where he is neither able to meet nor able to recall her back, the sher (couplet) that has made this Ghazal so popular is   shaam bhī thī dhuāñ dhuāñ husn bhī thā udaas udaas dil ko ka.ī kahāniyāñ yaad sī aa ke rah ga.iiñ   This sher (Couplet) alone made the whole ghazal famous. The acute pain of Bahadur Shah Zafar, Lagta Nahi Hai Dil Mera, in the words of the ‘tragic’ Emperor himself. His agony of not being able to go back to his country India again, made him to pen down   kitnā hai bad-nasīb 'zafar' dafn ke liye do gaz zamīn bhī na milī kū-e-yār meñ   This sher (Couplet) alone made the whole ghazal famous. It will make your heart heavy.   In this series of Ghazal Ki Kahani, first half would be of recitation and second half would have explanation or interpretation of the Ghazal.
