With a busy start to 2026, it ended up a double bill of games to cover in one episode, intro’d by The Sickbed Kid, as soon as he was half-functioning again, to briefly review a long-awaited home victory over Amex bogey boys Burnley, before handing over the handheld recording duties to our regular Northern ‘Monks’ oop Manchester way for the always daunting visit to The Etihad. And it proved a fruitful and highly entertaining match, extending Albion’s unbeaten run up there to two games and the team’s AND Fabian’s overall unbeaten run against those poor, poverty-stricken urchins to 4 games! It also progresses the team’s current unbeaten PL run onto 3 matches. At last, they’ve done it! Russ and Pete have finally completed the 92, after some delays and with no thanks at all to cup draws, frozen pitches and a lack of convenient rescheduling for TV in recent seasons. Dragging Russ’s wife along for good measure, they headed up to Barrow-in-Furness for the penultimate ground at Holker Street on the Friday night (19th) before hooking around Morecambe Bay and down to Fleetwood for the big one…Ground 92, at Highbury Stadium on the Saturday. Another League Cup game, another 0-6 win! Bloody hell!!! Well that won’t be happening next time as Albion ended up with a trip to The Emirates to contend with in the draw on Wednesday. However it was a great trip and well worth it, for what turned out to be The Diego Gomez Show, with our Paraguayan midfield maestro netting a, what would you call it?, double brace aka 4 goal haul, with some spectacular strikes too. In the Pod Squad this time were Russ, David T, Chris, Sam, Ahmed, Alison, Dom, Alastair and Nick…the latter of whom was on a two match attending streak - an unbeaten one at that! - easy there, lad!!! We were also delighted to chat with Tykes fans Sam and his father Simon, who were great company. It was great to be back in Barnsley.
