Dave Ambrose, legendary 60s Bassist, tells of his various experiences with top 60s rock bands

Tom Allom, record producer, takes us through his recollections of recording the first Genesis album, 'From Genesis to Revelation',at Regent Sound studio when they were raw and still at school, Jonathan King's role as producer. Then on to his work with the Strawbs as producer, and ending with The Tourists second album with the wonderful voice of Annie Lennox, and Dave Stewart's switched on production expertise, and why the band ended.  An added tour of the key studios he recorded in and how things were done in the early 1970's. 

Dave Ambrose tells of the early 60 music scene in Hamilton King band, that included Ray Davis pre the Kinks, the gigs and evolution of the riff. And the moment the Kinks signed a deal with Pye records. 

Dave Ambrose is a well known 60s musician who played bass on many seminar bands, including with Ray Davis of the Kinks ( before the Kinks) Shotgun Express- the early Fleetwood Mac and Rod Stewart, and with Peter Green in particular, Cat Stevens, then onto record with Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll and the 'Trinity ' (Wheels on Fire!) after which he met Arthur Brown and his Kingdom come- here is his story of that phase as they wrote and recorded the whacky 'Galactic Zoo Dossier' album, and an addendum on Robert Fripp's King Crimson and a 'Warlock'. Crazy times driven by crazy philosophies the like not seen since the early 70s. Dave also has a book out called 'How to be a Rock Star' that these conversations are here to enhance.
