Critical thinking is jet fuel for problem solving, but so few people strive to do it because it takes WORK. And it is imperative for True Driven@ Leaders. In this episode of The True Driven™ Podcast, we uncover:- The power of emotional stability through logic and trained thought- How to balance emotions and logic to assess any situation quickly and accurately- How questions drive understanding - What specific questions to consider in seemingly “impossible” situations- How to be a superior problem solver when everyone else wants to give up- How to avoid unnecessary (and unwinnable) arguments with close-minded people- When to fight for your truth…and when to walk away- How to know if you have all the facts before making a decision- And more…Be sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven#Leadership#Servantleadership#Leadershipdevelopment
It’s one thing to hit a high level of performance and achieve extraordinary results, it’s another thing to maintain that level. One-off success is nice, but consistent and even predictable success is what sets the very best apart from the mediocre masses.. If you are striving for your absolute personal best, and especially if you are driven to be THE best in your field of endeavor, you are a very rare breed. In a society that seems to celebrate and elevate mediocrity, it can be frustrating to push against the narrative.HOWEVER…True Drivens™ see this as an opportunity to stay true to themselves and capitalize on the void of leadership and excellence that seems to be getting bigger by the day.And I’ll share a simple yet powerful principle I learned and leverage every day as a Naval Aviator to help you hit your highest levels of performance consistently. In this episode of the True Driven™ Podcast, we tackle the challenge of consistent excellence and discuss:- The importance of pursuing your best (now more than ever)- How setting and maintaining high standards is a force multiplier for team/organizational excellence- The fallacy of perfectionism and how to grow from failure- How paying keeping a tally of wins and losses can pay huge dividends and bring results faster- The power of small, incremental improvement, and how it leads to rapid success- And more…Be sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven#Leadership#Servantleadership#Leadershipdevelopment
One of the biggest growing–and dangerous–misconceptions in society is around the meaning of the word “leadership”. The term has gotten so bastardized, overused, misconstrued and attached inappropriately to so many egregious examples of the exact OPPOSITE of leadership, it’s no wonder people have begun to lose faith in the concept of it altogether.Just because someone is in a position of leadership does not define them as a Leader. It is incumbent upon all of us, the True Driven™ Leaders of the world, to hold people in leadership positions to high standards, and more importantly, demonstrate in our daily lives what it means to truly lead.In this episode of the True Driven™, we examine:- The difference between authority and influence- How experience and “tenure” don’t define leadership- The reasons it is critical for us to hold people in leadership positions accountable and to high standards- How competence and skill doesn’t mean the person can lead- The myth of confidence, and what type of confidence you need to be a better leader- The dangerous combination of high confidence and low competence and how to identify it- The importance of courage in leadership- Why compassion matters more in leadership than experience- And more…Be sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven#Leadership#Servantleadership#Leadershipdevelopment
There are countless strategies for success, but few leave out a critical factor in every significant endeavor of excellence: RISK. The ability to take calculated and uncomfortable risks is not only a high-performance skill, but one that separates the exceptional few from the mediocre masses. But few are willing to face the brutal reality: risk sometimes ends in losing, but winning ALWAYS comes from risk. Few people are willing to take the risks necessary to advance their careers, their businesses, and their lives, but why? What causes otherwise smart, capable, people from backing down from their full potential? How come more people are winning the game of life?In this episode, we’ll search for answers and explore:- The real reason(s) some people aren’t cut out for success- The difference between excellent business leaders and curious wantrepreneurs- The difference between a calculated risk and a reckless gamble- The most important bet you can place on your own success- The (huge) difference between losing and being a “loser”- How taking risks can be one of the highest expressions of yourself- How winning doesn’t necessarily translate to success- When losing is more valuable (and profitable) than winning - And more…Results don’t come to the cowardly who resign to fear; results race thunderously toward the bold and courageous who dare to endeavor into the skies of uncertainty. It comes down to taking the risk, accepting the possibility (and if need be, reality) of failure, and having the grace to accept yourself and respect yourself for even having the courage to strive. And in the end, you’re either playing to win, or playing not to lose. Make sure you are playing to WIN.Also check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdeboltFacebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven#Leadership#Servantleadership#Leadershipdevelopment#Mentaltoughness#Personalexcellence
Apathy is the slow death of the soul and the evisceration of excellence. Apathy is defined as lack of feeling or emotion : IMPASSIVENESS, and lack of interest or concern : INDIFFERENCE.Apathy is the malignant nature of life; the deterioration of vibrance and desire. Apathy is the symptom of resignation from a life of excellence and the consequence of subscribing to a message of fear, division, and conformity to mediocrity. If apathy is the disease, Leadership is the cure.In this episode we dive in and uncover:- What apathy is and how it destroys performance and potential- How apathy slowly and insidiously shows up in the everyday lives of high-performers- What all Leaders need to be aware of to keep apathy at bay and purpose at full power- The importance of being connected to your Big 4™ to find your way out of the darkness- How finding something bigger than you to work for in order to banish apathy forever- And more…Seeking “motivation” won’t save you. Finding purpose will. And leading yourself is the answer.Be sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven#Leadership#Servantleadership#Leadershipdevelopment#Mentaltoughness#Personalexcellence
Leadership is not a title, a position, or a perceived status.Leadership is a behavior. Leadership is a character trait. Leadership is a way of life. Sadly, these days too many people fall for the cult of personality and assign the title of “Leader” to anyone they admire or respect, and sometimes, those whom they fear and avoid. Leadership is easy to misunderstand, which is the reason I brought the thunder with this episode. It is time for a shift in understanding and rise in awareness of what Leadership truly means. It is time to hold ourselves and those whom we follow to higher standards. We roll up our sleeves and explore:- The role of humility in Leadership and why it is crucial to - The standards we must set–and hold–for Leaders, especially ourselves- How contrition is a part of Leadership, and how to live it when you make mistakes- What all Leaders must embrace if they truly want to influence and lead others- The 3 phrases every Leaders needs, and how (and when) to use themBe sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven
Every person on the planet wants) and needs Freedom. Every. Single. Person. And what is alarming and disturbing is the increasing number of people who are surrendering their freedoms–sometimes unknowingly, and sometimes overtly–in the name of “safety” and conformity. It’s almost like a page of a George Orwell book. But under the surface (and increasingly more out in the open) there are dark forces working around the clock to take your Freedoms away. Often referred to as the "power elite", they are working tirelessly to convince you that Freedom is “wrong” or “selfish” and that safety is supreme, and compliance is your duty. These people are evil, and they will stop at nothing to see their plan through. But what would cause such a small group of power elites to want to strip us of our Freedom? What are their motives? What do they want? We can only speculate, and we may never truly know. And while we’re at it, what causes perfectly intelligent and healthy people to consciously decide to surrender their Freedom to these nefarious few? How do so many fall for such a nebulous and dangerous agenda? The better question is, when will people WAKE UP to the truth? In this powerful and challenging episode of The True Driven™ Podcast, we will explore the power of Freedom, how it serves us ALL, and why NOW is the time to rise TOGETHER and defend our birthright of Freedom before it is too late. Because once it's gone, Freedom will be gone forever. Let’s face it, we are in some of the most challenging times in recent history. It’s undisputable. Doesn’t matter what side of the political aisle you are on, who you voted for, your world views or your personal opinions, we are living in unprecedented times. Uncertain times. And while everyone else reacts from a place of fear and insecurity, Leaders cannot afford the luxury of panicking or looking around for someone else to stand up and lead. It is on us–you and me–right now. This is nothing new for us True Driven™ Leaders, though the circumstances may be more challenging than others we’ve previously faced. How do we respond (instead of react)? How do we show up? What do we need to focus on in order to keep a level head and our eyes on target? These questions and more are paramount to staying focused and disciplined and keeping our attention on the most important elements of our missions. In this episode of The True Driven™ Podcast, we discuss:- How to stay centered in a world that seems to be unraveling at the seams- The danger of the addiction to the need for certainty, and how it is destroying yoru Leadership- How to show up with poise and confidence when others panic and fold under pressure- How to manage our ego and our fears in order to stay focused on solutions- Where to place our attention when we get overwhelmed or frustrated- How to lead others (even when they’ve surrendered to fear and propaganda)*WARNING: If you are easily offended or deeply rooted in identity politics, you probably want to avoid this episode.Be sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven
Creating success in your business, career, and life can feel overwhelming and complicated. That’s due in part because of a glut of information flooding our awareness 24/7…and not all of it is good. The big struggle is knowing what we truly need, what will help us move forward with our mission, and more importantly, how to duplicate results we get from the action we take. And more importantly, it comes down to being able to decipher what is best for YOU and not what everybody else says is “right”.In this episode of The True Driven™ Podcast, we explore:- The 3 things you need to focus on and commit to acquiring now- How these 3 things equate to duplicatable success, and how you can transfer that knowledge to those whom you lead- How “shiny object” syndrome is field by mass media and big tech- What value there is in putting in your time and earning your stripes- How the word “investment” is overused and misunderstood (and how to ensure you are making the best ones for you)- The value of associating with losers, and what they can teach you about success- What you truly need right NOW to accomplish your missions in business and lifeBe sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380Andon Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdeboltFacebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven
Everyone makes excuses. The difference between winners and everyone else is how they respond to and blow past an excuse to accomplish the mission. If you’ve set goals and declared that you were going to achieve them, then excuses are little more than a sign of a lack of integrity; as soon as you make excuses, you are breaking a promise to yourself. It's a Values conflict. And…a lack of responsibility, because after all, YOU are the captain of your own destiny. Save yourself the time, energy and embarrassment of building a wall of excuses and just take responsibility and get GOING. Own it and take the challenge head on. But how does that work? In this episode we dig in to examine:- The role of desire and goals in happiness (and how you might be sabotaging your results because of it)- How emotions are a great catalyst for action, but a terrible elixir for creating solutions- The importance of suffering, and how avoiding it is cutting of a limitless fuel tank of unbridled drive- The misguided obsession over education, and the internal force that trumps it (spoiler alert: you already have it)- The real place rewards and results live in the hierarchy of achievement, and how to get there- How NOT to defeat yourself by overthinking, over-dramatizing, or negotiating against your Values- When to separate emotion from the situation (and how to stay in your power when emotions run high) Be sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdeboltFacebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven
No matter where you turn, no matter where you go, you will see that we are constantly bombarded with messages that we are supposed to “feel good” and “be comfortable” 24/7. We live in times where we have never experienced so much convenience, so many options for entertainment and pleasure, and yet so much unhappiness and anxiety. What is the root cause? And how do we navigate that unhappiness and anxiety? In this episode of The True Driven™ Podcast, we examine:- The power and importance of pain in our lives- The reason we have pain, and why you should lean into it- How pain can be a great teacher and energizer of your soul- What leaders and high-performers need to understand about pain for better better performance- How pain is necessary for high performance- The difference between true trauma and perceived pain (and how NOT to confuse the two)- How to find the value and lessons from your past, especially if that past is difficult to look back on- How avoiding and numbing youtube pain is destroying your greatest potential and true selfBe sure to subscribe to “The True Driven™ Podcast” on iTunes: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-driven-podcast/id1595991380And on Spotify:https://jtdebolt.libsyn.com/spotifyAlso check out:Website: www.JTDeBolt.comInstagram: www.instagram.com/jtdebolt Facebook: www.facebook.com/FlyWithJT#TrueDriven#leadership#mentaltoughness
A common misconception about success is that the most accomplished people you can think of--in any walk of life-- don’t have challenges…that they have it all figured out. It’s easy to fall for the delusion that high-performers don’t wrestle it the same challenges other “mortals” do, like procrastination. But the hard reality is this: Procrastination gets everybody. The difference isn’t what happens to us, it’s how we respond. In this episode of The True Driven™ Podcast, we explore:- The truth about procrastination…and what procrastination actually is- The question(s) to ask when you are hesitating to take action on your goals- Results are great, but they pale in comparison to the ONE driver of success that most people overlook- How being offended is one of the biggest weaknesses holding society hostage (and how NOT to be offended ever again)- The importance of HOW (not just what) you think about your results- A crippling cause of progress that happens AFTER you’ve formulated an excellent plan- The big difference between critical thinking and being (overly) critical- What your relationship with results says about how you execute and follow through on your goals
Losing focus on your goals, losing overall direction in life, and even losing your drive to succeed can happen to anyone. A major misconception is that the “ultra-successful” are always juiced, always “on” and never have an off day.As much as that boosts likes/follows/clicks on social media, it's all BS.True Drivens™ know the slope of success can be slippery, which is why they adhere to a very specific formula–The Big 4™– and default to it anytime they have a lapse in motivation, a slump in results, or a feeling that they’ve lost their way.On the episode of the TrueDriven™ Podcast, we take a deep dive into the 4 cornerstones of consistency and scalable progress, and how they create sustainable and predictable results:- Your core values are the internal polaris for everything you think and do; how clear and connected are you to yours?- Creating a vision doesn't mean pinning pretty pictures to a corkboard and meditating on them until they appear. It takes a much more strategic approach that requires and deeper and more challenging look into your connection to what they mean to you- Having dreams is cute, having goals is great, but developing the focused and intentional pursuit of a vision-backed achievement makes the difference between dreaming and winning- Understanding the driving force behind you missions in business and life, the DNA-level connection to your values, and the intentional commitment to outcomes and results…and meaningPutting these together creates a self-regenerating fuel tank for drive, fortitude, and creativity for problem solving and solution creation that keeps True Drivens™ on the path and focused.
If you are in a slump--a period of stagnated progress or dead stop in your mission--it can be frustrating. What’s worse, is if you stay there too long, the insidious forces of self-doubt, self-judgment, and self-defeat start to gain traction and take over valuable territory in your mind. True Drivens™ cannot tolerate that! But what caused it in the first place? And how do you get out of a slump once you’re in one?On the episode of the TrueDriven™ Podcast, we explore 3 things you can do to break any slump and regain your momentum:- Remember the KISS principle and keep it super simple- Done is better than perfect, so stop obsessing over perfection (perfection is for amateurs)- The power of the “what’s next?” mentality, and how to cultivate it- Why success doesn’t care about your feelings (and how emotions can either help or derail your success)- Why results are the least important ingredient in the recipe to success (and what to focus on instead)*Plus: The MASTER step...do this and you will inoculate yourself from future slumps in your mission...
The celebration of mediocrity has consumed our society to the point of pushing us to the brink, and there are those of us who refuse to tolerate it, let alone succumb to it. If that is you, this podcast is for you. I've been fortunate to have been surrounded by high-achievers most of my life; Naval Aviators, Navy SEALs, titans of business, entrepreneurs, elite athletes...and there are distinct differences between them and everybody else. I've also been around an even bigger number of people who WANT to be high-performers. They THINK they are. They follow high-performers on social media and think they are one of them by association. They TALK about being driven....but it only takes a few minutes before you realize they don't really know what TRUE DRIVE means. Talking a big game is one thing... but to actually PLAY the game like a True Driven™ is a whole different animal. In this episode of the The True Driven™ Podcast, we discuss: - The clear delineation between the people claiming to have true drive and those who have it. - What makes them tick. Where that drive really comes from. And how to achieve it. - A key element to success, something I call the "Big 4"...and how they drive everything high-performers achieve in life - How you can "motivated" and still get zero accomplished. - How you can be "enthusiastic" and still stay in the same station in life. - The Misconception- being “hungry”...being “motivated”..being a “hard worker”...and the reasons all of that isn’t enough. - What makes True Drivens™ a different breed, and the 6 elements that make them the elite performers of the world Tune in and see if you have what it takes to earn the title "True Driven™"
