Q &A First 25 recap

2022-08-2524:09

I answer your questions and recap some updates from the first 25 guests.
Conrad and I talk about the early Ghoti Hook days, his transition out of the band and what he is doing with the Fast God Stuff podcast!
Jake and Andrew jumped on the podcast to discuss their most recent 2 week tour, where the band started, Friend Club Records, and what the future holds. I've known these guys for a minute so it was a real fun conversation.
Jamie and I dive into his time in the KC scene, working for Victory Records, touring with bands, the time I sent him a ton of demos in Facebook messenger, what he is up to with FCR and how great the Furnace Fest Community is.
Rich and I talk all things late 90s-early 00s Christian pop punk. We discuss when we think we met, playing some shows together, their connection to Rufio and Slick Shoes, and how awesome their second album was.
Derek and I catch up on the early 00s scene, From A Second Story Window history and dive into what he is doing in Japan with the idol scene.  IDOL UNDERWORLD (the site where I sell idol goods, including the goods of my idols I produce): http://www.idolunderworld.com  MIHO's IU Page:  http://www.idolunderworld.com/miho/ Here is Miho's first video for her song, DOUBT:  https://www.youtube.com/watch? KOSAME IU PAGE:  https://www.idolunderworld.com/kosame/ And here is the song I wrote for Kosame, CORD:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt-tB8ukuNI And here is a funny reaction video to Kosame's video:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2Xpr2WII20&t=84s HANA IU PAGE:  https://www.idolunderworld.com/hana/  v=fbZguuOC_Ek
Cyndi was one of the first people I reached out to when I started the podcast. She started as a fan of Coheed and Cambria and became more involved in the community. Over time she became know as the All Mother (if you know, you know) and was a pivitol part of the online Coheed community. With the help of some friends she started the All Things Coheed podcast (amazing, check it out). She is now the Product Manager at Evil Ink Comics and it is such a great story how she was a fan for years and ended up in the role.
Luke and I go back 20+ years. We sat down to talk about the processes behind building and growing a band, touring, recording, replacing band members, and more. We talked about how the processes changed over the last two decades and how familiar faces seem to always come back around in places you don't expect them.
I'm a big fan of Dewey's podcast and knew some stories about him through listening so I wanted to have him on to talk about growing up in Alaska, moving the band to Portland and everything that happened along the way.
Seth and I talk about the new Watashi Wa record, People Like People, and dig through the back catalog and talk about writing songs when you are young.
Scott and I talked all things Zao, but spent a decent amount of time on the Liberate era and his entrance into the band. Also talked about the newer tunes and upcoming tour!
Trevor Strnad Tribute

Trevor Strnad Tribute

2022-05-1332:06

Things didn't go as planned this week so I shared some thoughts on Trevor, grab a story from a friend, and talked to someone close to Trevor. I hope this episode helps you process the loss of one of the best and brightest in the metal scene.
I talk with the Joshes from Revisionist about the processes behind their new album, Dirty Candy. Check out a short clip of the first single "Obscene or Unseen" at the end of the episode. Find out about trying to record during a pandemic and their experience working with Aaron Gillespie (Underoath, Paramore, etc)
Brian and I discuss the band's debut, The Weight and The Cost, the vulnerability of writing open and honest lyrics, and the next release Hello Sun (out 5.20.22). We also briefly touch on the issues of mental health and diversity in the hardcore scene.
In this episode Josh and I discuss Dogwood history, family gatherings and recipes, punk rock pairings, cooking soundtracks, his podcast, and Saint Didacus tunes. You should really check it out.
Jon and I covered the past 20 years+ of Midwest metalcore, Furnace Fest 21 and 22, his international travels, apple lady and her trailer, and everything Dead To Fall.
Jeff and I chatted about the band's latest album, Solid Gold, Furnace Fest 2022, wacky stories from back in the day, the transition of their sound in the late 90s, and life as a teacher.
In this episode we talk about the new record from the Darling Fire, Further Seems Forever anniversary shows, and his world record in the OG Marios Bros.
