Description

In the face of climate change, the idea of a carbon-free society has evolved from a long-term vision to a mid-term necessity. The mobility sector accounts for a substantial share of global greenhouse gas emissions. Consequently, the transition to sustainable mobility presents a substantial challenge. I work for Strategy Engineers, a management consulting firm specialised in mobility and the automotive industry. Since 2015, I support my clients in numerous projects to make their sustainable transformation a success. In this podcast, I will invite industry experts to give perspectives towards sustainable mobility and discuss how industry players can position themselves to find a winning position in a decarbonised world. Looking forward to you listening in!

In this podcast episode, Hans Beck and Dr. Oliver Spreitzer discuss the concept of a million-mile battery, its rationale, and under what conditions it can be a profitable business. They also explore how OEMs can exploit its business potential through either pursuing an all-in, or a mitigation strategy. Don't miss this insightful conversation on the future of electric vehicle batteries.
The transition towards e-mobility is in full swing. And even if combustion engines might be banned from some countries already in a few years, they still play a role on the world market in the next decades of the automotive industry. What does that mean for future supply chains in the automotive industry, especially for those that have grown and been perfected over decades? New technologies and various new players on OEM and supplier side are entering the market. But what happens to the existing supply chains that have been focussed on the supply of relevant components and modules for combustion engines over years? Listen to the fifth episode to get some insights!
In our new podcast episode, our host Hans Beck talks with Joachim Hauser, partner at Strategy Engineers and transformation expert, about the topic of innovation-enabled business transformation. Why is it so important for companies, especially in the mobility industry, to react on the changing conditions and re-invent product portfolio, business model and the organization? How do you transform a company and what approaches make sense here? What will be surprising to most people is that the foundation for transformation can be laid out within only two weeks! How? Tune in and listen to our new podcast episode!
China is the largest BEV market in the world with over 2 million units sold and over 150% growth rate in 2021. In this episode, Hans Beck talks to Cheng Xie and Chen Chen, two colleagues from our office in China, how sustainability looks like in the world’s largest automotive emerging market. Some of the main insights are that besides BEV, HEV/PHEV also plays an important role in the market. Competition is intense with competitors coming from three different OEM group. Customer preference is leaning towards products from new start-ups instead of global OEMs. Stay tuned and listen in!
In past years, battery manufacturers have successfully improved the capacity and performance of battery cells. In order to become a competitive cell supplier in the upcoming years, the focus needs to be directed towards improving operational performance and reliability in line with automotive quality standards, for example manufacturing end of line defects in parts-per-million ranges. Building scalable operations will be key to surviving the upcoming consolidation in the battery environment. Only those companies who combine cutting-edge technology, operational efficiency and a scalable organisation into a holistic operating system will prevail as a long-term partner of the OEMs.
The results of the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in Glasgow in early November 2021 have been discussed controversially since there have been several commitments but only few hard facts. Nevertheless, COP26 has reinforced the commitments from governments all around the globe to react and to introduce increasingly strict climate regulations to reach “Net-Zero”. These regulations will impact entire industries such as the automotive industry in a major way. But what will be the consequences and how to make your business sustainable? In this episode of “Perspectives towards sustainable mobility”, I will talk with Christian Koehler, Partner at Strategy Engineers, about his perspectives on this topics and find out, how automotive decision makers can prepare their companies for the upcoming changes.
