Today we look at the “settling Spirit” focussing on how the Holy Spirit settles on Jesus and invites us into that friendship. We look at John’s Gospel and how the author wants to paint a picture of how we can expect more from being drawn into an intimate relationship with God through the Holy Spirit.

In this sermon we look at the work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament through the promise the prophet Joel puts to the Jewish people. We look at this exciting “out pouring” of the Holy Spirit to all people and what it can mean for us today as recipients of the Spirit’s blessings.

We see divine acceleration in Acts as missionaries from Cyprus and Cyrene pushed beyond the boundaries and took the gospel to the Greeks in Antioch. God is wanting to bring divine acceleration in each of us - there's always more, more growth, more opportunities. He's looking for acceleration in pioneering as we are 'dreamers who do' (acting on the dreams he gives us). Finally, we are looking for divine acceleration as we seek to plant in East Leeds and work into other nations. The key for it all will be prayer - a movement of prayer in CCL.
Passage: Acts 11:19-26
Speaker: Rich
God sent Jesus into the world as a seed of the Kingdom that will fill the world with his love and presence.
Passage: Matthew 13:31-33
Speaker: Steve Thomas
Peter is about to call us to make every effort, the other side of the partnership we introduced in week 1. But first he makes clear that this is a response on our part – ‘in view of all this’ – in view of the faith God put in our hearts, in view of his grace and kindness, in view of his provision and promises, how shall we respond? That’s the tone, lest we read the following list of urgings as a series of demands. Plant your roots deep lay into faith, Peter says, and watch as these 7 virtues grow and produce fruit, reaching up to love as the crowning glory of the Christian life.
Series: Growing, God's way
Passage: 2 Peter 1:5-8
Speakers: Mark P & Jamie B
In part 2 of Growing with God Abby helps us explore how the Holy Spirit is both the certainty of our salvation and the source of life for our spiritual growth.
Series: Growing, God's way
Passage: 2 Peter 1:3-4
Speaker: Abby
2 Peter 1:1-2 tells us that our faith is given to us by God and calls us to grow in our knowledge of God and Jesus. Rick introduces our new series, Growing with God, and explains how we can both take responsibility for growing, yet not fall into the trap of shame, condemnation and guilt.
Series: Growing, God's way
Passage: 2 Peter 1:1-2
Speaker: Rick
In the final part of our Breadth of the Gospel series Russ shows us how one of the consequences of the fall was bringing injustice into the world, but we are called to help advance God's kingdom in pushing back this darkness of injustice. He challenges us to consider what our "thing" is - the issues of injustice in the world that we feel called to advocate for - and gives us suggestions as to how we can make a difference.

Jesus died for us. Jesus lives for us. Jesus is praying for us.Passage: Romans 8: 31-39Series: RomansSpeaker: Gsry GibbsDate: 2/15/26
Having taken the first half of his letter to the Romans to outline the good news of the gospel and to show how God‘s solution for our need has nothing to do with us, but everything to do with Christ, Paul now outlines God‘s provision for living in the good of this life that Christ has won for us – it’s the presence and power of the Holy Spirit.Passage: Rom 8:1-30Series: RomansSpeaker: Mike BeaumontDate: 02/08/26
How to enjoy God's grace, and avoid falling into sin.Passage: Romans 6Series: RomansSpeaker: Steve ThomasDate: 1/25/26
Our lives have moved from being trapped “in Adam”, defined by sin and rebellion, to being “in Christ”. Being “in Christ” gives us the privileges of having Peace with God and of having access to God. Passage: Romans 5Series: RomansSpeaker: Becky WebbDate: 1/11/26
It all begins with Jesus. It will all end with Jesus. It has always and will always be all about Jesus.Passage: John 1: 1-18Speaker: Rich ColbrookDate: 1/4/26
Abraham - archetype of salvation by faith. What are we saved for? We are saved to Belong and to Be SentPassage: Romans 4 and Ephesians 4Series: RomansSpeaker: Rich (on behalf of Bekah)Date: 12/14/25
In Romans 3–4, Paul moves us from humanity’s universal guilt to humanity’s rescue, showing that we are justified by faith alone, in Christ alone, through grace alone, according to Scripture alone for God’s Glory alone. In God’s courtroom, we see the great exchange as Jesus takes our sentence and gives us His righteousness. Two simple words “But now” transform condemnation into life, and invite others into the same grace.Passage: Romans 3:21-4:25Series: RomansSpeaker: Adrian BairstowDate: 12/7/25
In this message Jonathan encourages us to step up in prayer for our unsaved friends, and to step out in faith to share the Gospel and expect miracles. It’s a practical, faith building message! Passage: Matthew 9:35-Matt 10:1, Col 4:2-3, Eph 6:18, Acts 4:29-31, Mark 16:15-20, Matthew 10:7-8, John 14:12, Mark 16:15-20, Speaker: Jonathan ConratheDate: 11/23/25
By ourselves, we all stand guilty before a holy God, but our help and rescue comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Paul demonstrates in his letter to the church in Rome that there is no ‘us vs them’; instead, we are one church, saved by one and the same rescue.
