Unfortunately the news is still pretty bleak my friends, but it's still important to be informed. Carl Kinsella and I discuss the absolute horrors occurring on the streets of Minnesota as well as the blatant lies coming from the American government, as well as Donald Trump's contributions to Davos, the brave story of Margaret Loftus and the success of TG4.To support the podcast and access bonus episodes, join the community on Patreon here. Today's guest is Eoghan Cleary. Eoghan is a teacher, writer and youth advocate as well as a researcher and educator with the Sexual Exploitation Research and Policy Institute. Eoghan and I discuss the challenges we face as a society when it comes to gender based violence, including sexual violence, and how the environment young people are growing up in is creating said challenges. Eoghan's research and experience means he's perfectly place to not only reflect on the reality facing young people and parents today, but also advise on how we can make things better. To support the podcast and access bonus episodes, join the community on Patreon here. This week Carl Kinsella and I didn't cover as many stories as we usually do because frankly, what's happened in the last week is representative in the overall shift in societal norms we've been experiencing over the past few years, and we needed to talk about it.To support the podcast and access bonus episodes, join the community on Patreon here. When we talked about the National Gender Service during the news episode on Monday it occurred to me that it might be a good idea to find out more about what exactly trans people in Ireland are facing when it comes to accessing gender affirming care. Fortunately, Daire Dempsey, Executive Director of the Transgender Equality Network of Ireland was generous enough to give me their time and fill me in on what the reality is. I knew it was bad, but it's actually worse than I thought, but there is hope. This one isn't short, but I didn't want to edit out any of the challenges being faced by Irish people, and I think its important that we educate ourselves on the challenges our trans brothers and sisters are facing so I hope you're up for dedicating a bit of time to that today.NOTE: For some reason static started appearing in the background of the episode as we recorded, so halfway through you'll hear a shift in the audio as we changed platforms.
