Welcome to the final week of our Relationships Anonymous series at Village Church! In this powerful sermon, Pastor Finu Iype dives into the topic of parenting, emphasizing that it’s not just hard work—it’s holy work. Drawing from Psalm 139:13 and Jeremiah 1:5, Pastor Finu reminds us that children are not accidents but divine assignments with a purpose from God. Parenting is about stewardship, not ownership, and it’s our responsibility to shape the next generation for God’s eternal purposes. Following the sermon, Dr. Dave Curry, a marriage and family expert with over 50 years of experience, joins Pastor Finu and Trisha Iype to answer practical parenting questions submitted by the Village Church community. In this message from the "Relationships Anonymous" series, Senior Pastor Finu addresses conflict in relationships, framing it as a discipleship and worship issue rather than just a relational challenge. Drawing from James 4:1 and Matthew 5:23-24, he emphasizes that conflicts stem from prideful desires and hinder worship, urging believers to pursue humility and reconciliation. A Q&A follows with Dr. Josh Cruz, a registered psychologist, who offers a practical framework for conflict resolution—aiming for unity, responding softly, staying open to influence, and repairing quickly. They answer questions on navigating opposing communication styles, rebuilding trust after betrayal, setting boundaries with in-laws, and managing financial conflicts, providing faith-based wisdom for fostering healthy relationships. In this message, guest speaker Grant Skeldon tackles the challenges of dating today and why it’s ultimately a discipleship issue more than a dating one. He highlights the importance of looking at “relationship résumés” through red and green flags in someone’s walk with God, their community, church, and mentors. Grant also reframes singleness as a gift to steward and calls the church to unite across generations through intentional discipleship. A Q&A follows, where Grant and the team answer real questions about boundaries, red flags, dating within the church, and the role of apps, offering practical wisdom for navigating relationships with faith and clarity. In this message, Pastor Finu unpacks Romans 5:12–21 to show how humanity’s story is divided between two representatives: Adam and Christ. Through Adam came sin and death, and through Christ comes grace and life. We do not simply struggle with bad habits, we carry a sinful nature that needs rescue. The good news is that Jesus, the new Adam, offers justification, reconciliation, and transformation as a free gift. Where sin abounds, grace abounds even more. In Christ, we move from death to life and are invited to reign in his power and grace. In this message, Pastor Chris unpacks Romans 5:1-11 to show how justification by faith transforms not only our eternity but our present life. Because of Jesus, we have peace with God, access to his grace, and joy that endures even through suffering. Paul reminds us that hardship produces endurance, character, and hope. And this hope will not disappoint, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Spirit. At the center of it all is the staggering truth that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. If God loved us then, how much more does he love us now as his children? In this message from Pastor Finu, we explore Romans 4:13-25 and the kind of faith that stands firm when life feels impossible. Abraham’s story shows us that righteousness is not earned through works or law but credited through faith in a God who raises the dead and creates what does not yet exist. Faith is not blind optimism but trust in God’s character and promises, even when reality looks hopeless. Like Abraham, our failures do not define us, God’s faithfulness does. Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, we are credited with righteousness and invited to rest in the assurance of God’s grace. What if faith is not about trying harder, but about letting go and trusting the One who always catches us? You Can’t Save You

You Can’t Save You

2025-08-1741:03

In this message from Pastor Chris, we explore Romans 4:1-12 to see how God’s plan for salvation has never changed. Using Abraham and David as examples, Paul shows that we are made right with God by faith, not by works or religious rituals. Our culture teaches that worth must be earned, but the gospel declares that God’s love is given before we do anything to deserve it. Faith is more than belief, it is trusting in what Jesus has already done and living in the freedom it brings. This truth frees us from striving, condemnation, and fear, so we can live out of gratitude rather than obligation. In this message, Pastor Michael unpacks Romans 3:27-31 to show how the gospel dismantles our obsession with proving ourselves. In a world built on resumes and performance, Paul declares that we are justified not by what we do, but by faith in what Jesus has done. This righteousness is not earned, it is received as a gift of grace. The message confronts pride, disarms shame, and invites us to stop pretending and start trusting. This sermon challenges both skeptics and believers to surrender the resume, embrace Christ, and live in the freedom of being fully accepted by God. In this message, Pastor Andrew unpacks Romans 3:21-26 to show how the gospel frees us from the crushing weight of performance. We are all broken and fall short of God’s glory, yet Jesus offers a righteousness we could never earn, he gives it as a gift of grace. Through the cross, we are invited to trust God as a loving Father and receive a new identity as his sons and daughters. This sermon challenges both skeptics and believers to stop striving, embrace grace, and discover the life-changing power of faith in Jesus. In this message from Pastor Chris, we continue our journey through Romans by confronting one of Paul’s most sobering arguments, no one is righteous. Not the Gentile, not the Jew, not even the most devout or well-intentioned among us. Through Romans 3, we’re reminded that every gift or advantage we’ve received is a commission, not an exemption. God remains faithful even when people fail us. And while transformation stories may inspire, our identity must be rooted in Jesus alone. The law reveals our sin, but only grace brings rescue. In the end, the Gospel doesn’t flatter us. It saves us. In this message from Pastor Victor, we examine Paul’s bold confrontation in Romans 2, where he turns the lens from gentile sin to the self-righteousness of Jewish believers. We often think of sin as external, but Paul dives into the idols of the heart, exposing the illusion of moral superiority and the myth of self-determination. We are reminded that true salvation is not earned or progressed toward, it’s a complete overhaul of our inner being. We don’t need better behavior, we need a new heart. This sermon calls us to trade self-made righteousness for the transforming power of the Spirit, who alone can bring life to what is dead. Why Does God Get Mad?

Why Does God Get Mad?

2025-07-0644:15

In this message, Pastor Michael unpacks one of the most sobering sections of Romans, where Paul describes humanity’s suppression of the truth and the consequences of idolatry. We see how rejecting God’s rightful place leads to disordered desires, brokenness, and judgment. Yet, woven through this diagnosis is the incredible mercy of God. Who, in His wrath against sin, offers grace through the cross of Christ. This sermon challenges us to stop justifying sin, to see ourselves honestly, and to marvel at the gospel that saves. In this message from Pastor Finu, we explore Paul's powerful declaration that he is “not ashamed of the gospel” in the heart of the Roman Empire. Rome offered peace through domination, but Paul proclaims peace through the cross. More than religious advice, the gospel is a royal announcement that Jesus is Lord, and that changes everything. This sermon challenges us to move from passive belief to bold engagement. What if being loved by God also means being called into his mission? With stories of radical transformation and the reminder that salvation is grace from start to finish, this message invites us to live with gospel intent in every part of our lives. In this opening message from our new series Romans, Rikk Watts helps us launch into Paul’s most well-known and carefully crafted letter. Grounding us in history and scripture, we see how Paul’s message has shaped the world and still has the power to shape us. At the heart of it all is Jesus: not just a teacher or prophet, but the risen Lord himself. Through Paul’s radical encounter and calling, we’re invited to a gospel that calls for both trust and obedience, grounded in grace and centered on Jesus. This introduction to Romans 1:1–12 reframes what it means to belong to God, live in community, and follow Jesus in our time. In this message from Pastor Chris, we explore the real purpose of the Ten Commandments and how they’re meant to deepen, not burden, our relationship with God. The law doesn’t start with demands but with deliverance, God saves first, then invites obedience. When we treat the law as a ladder to earn God’s love, it crushes us. But when we see it as a guide flowing from God’s love, it transforms us. This sermon reframes obedience not as slavery, but as freedom. We’re reminded that nothing in this world can satisfy our infinite souls like intimacy with God. The Ten Commandments aren’t just rules, they’re a relational roadmap from a God who already moved first. In this message, Pastor Justin takes us to Exodus 19, where Israel encounters the living God for the first time at Mount Sinai. This God is not safe, not small, and not shaped by human preferences. He is holy, untamable, and calls for full commitment. The sermon unpacks the real barrier to knowing God, why casual Christianity won’t cut it, and how the God who saves us first invites us into a life of obedience, consecration, and purpose. In this inspiring conclusion to the Bigger Than Us series, Pastor Fanu unpacks the transformative power of a future rooted in God's eternal mission. Drawing from Hebrews 11:8-10, the sermon explores Abraham’s faith-filled journey as he stepped into the unknown, driven by a vision of a city designed and built by God. Pastor Fanu challenges Village Church to embrace a future that is bigger than individual ambitions, focusing on five key aspects: a future built on faith, focused on Jesus, worth the sacrifice, overcoming fear of the unknown, and already unfolding in the next generation. You should look into Ken Ham, Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum. They are Creation science based and point out the fact that we cannot marry the Bible and science together, but rather we need to interpret science through a biblical Creation based lens. Because by doing so we prove the Bible is true and do not undermine it. By saying there were dinosaurs or animals before Adam and Eve undermines The Bible from the beginning of you believe the fossil record. Because we then will believe that animals died before humans came along, but nothing died until Adam and Eve sinned in the garden. which goes against millions of years thinking.

regarding the guess pastor on "Acts 2.0" sermon, only listened to the first 10 minutes to far, but what kind of false pastor is this? he seems to think it's about us doing and performing to earn God's favor. "if we do this, then God will do that". that's anti gospel. we were never good enough. never will be good enough. yet despite all of this, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. we did nothing. Paul did nothing on his road to Damascus. lazerous didn't do anything to raise himself from the dead. God did it all and does it all.
