WHL Commissioner Dan Near brought the suspense from the Draft Podium.Medicine Hat Tigers F Gavin McKenna keeps adding to his trophy case.  He is the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy winner as the WHL Player of the Year. He's our guest as he looks back on reaching a personal goal and looks ahead to the WHL Championship series against the Spokane Chiefs on home ice this weekend.What a final season in the WHL for Portland Winterhawks D Tyson Jugnauth. He's the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy winner as the WHL Defenseman of the Year.  He joins the show as he made his way back from Portland following the end of his season.13 WHL'ers plus staff helped Canada win a IIHF U-18 gold medal in Texas.  We'll hear from some of the key contributors from the WHL contingent.Finally, what a moment for WHL Alumni Adam Lowry. The Winnipeg Jets captain was the game seven double-overtime hero in the 1st round.  We'll take you back to the biggest goal so far in his career.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at both the Spokane Chiefs and Medicine Hat Tigers advancing to the WHL Championship Series for the Ed Chynoweth Cup.  We will take you back to the series clinching games as both teams advance via a series sweep.  The Tigers and Chiefs open up the WHL Championship Series May 9th in Medicine Hat, AB.What a final season in the WHL for Prince Albert Raiders G Max Hildebrandt.  The Del Wilson Memorial Trophy winner for the WHL's top goaltender will join us.  Max will look back on the season and look ahead towards an NCAA commitment to Bemidji State. For the first time as a General Manager, Spokane's Matt Bardsley has won the WHL's Lloyd Saunders Memorial Award as the league's top executive.  We'll hear from Matt on the award and the key moves and acquisitions which have led the Chiefs to the WHL Championship series.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, gets you set for the WHL's Eastern and Western Conference Championship Series.  We will recap a pair of game sevens that saw the Portland Winterhawks and Lethbridge Hurricanes advance.1st year WHL Head Coach Kyle Gustafson has his Portland Winterhawks into the final four after a pair of series upsets.  He'll join us as we look back, and look ahead to the Spokane Chiefs in the Western Conference Championship series.An exceptional season.  Everett Silvertips D Landon DuPont has captured the WHL's Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy as the WHL's Rookie of the Year.  We'll look back on his 1st season in the WHL.Medicine Hat Tigers F Gavin McKenna now prepares for the Lethbridge Hurricanes.  He discusses his two goals against Prince Albert that went viral online.  Finally, referee Mike Langin has been named the Allen Paradice Memorial Trophy winner as the WHL Official of the Year. the 14 year veteran will join the show this week.  

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at a couple of highlight reel goals this past week from Medicine Hat Tigers F Gavin McKenna.  The top prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft put on a show in both Medicine Hat and Prince Albert in the second round WHL series.The Regina Pats hold a lot of cards for the upcoming 2025 WHL Prospects Draft May 7-8.  General Manager Alan Millar joins us to discuss the plans for the 1st overall selection and how important the Draft is for the entire Pats organization moving forward.NHL Central Scouting has released it's Final Rankings for the 2025 NHL Draft.  67 WHL'ers cracking the list. We'll have the highlights.Mike Boyle had quite the day in Spokane.  The longtime Chiefs broadcaster pulled off a two sport play-by-play doubleheader that culminated with a double overtime thriller at the Spokane Arena.Finally, former WHL player/Head Coach of the Saskatoon Blades Mitch Love had a front row seat to NHL history.  The Assistant Coach of the Washington Capitals tells us more about Alexander Ovechkin's chase of history and his time so far with the Capitals organization.  

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes you back to Thursday's WHL Prospects Draft Lottery.  The Regina Pats emerging as the winner. We'll have the announcement and get reaction from Pats General Manager Allan Miller. The top prospect for the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft is regarded as Regina's Maddox Schultz of the U-18 AAA Regina Pat Canadians.Victory+ is the WHL's new streaming provider and viewership numbers broke WHL records in the 1st round of the Playoffs.  WHL Commissioner Dan Near joins us to share some of the significant numbers and what might be next for the WHL and Victory+.We had a thrilling end to the 1st round.  We'll take you back to three endings including two Game Sevens and a double OT thriller between US Division rivals.Finally, the Medicine Hat Tigers and Prince Albert Raiders are set for battle in the 2nd round.  Tigers F Ryder Ritchie is our guest as he matches up against his former team. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, updates the opening round of the 2025 WHL Playoffs Presented by Nutrien.  We have some great series heading into the second weekend of the post-season and some mid-week overtime thrillers.The Calgary Hitmen are the first team to advance.  They swept the Saskatoon Blades in four straight.  Hitmen 1st year Head Coach Paul McFarlane joins us to discuss a 1st round series win and what lies ahead next weekend.It was an emotional return for Medicine Hat Tigers G Harrison Meneghin after the passing of his father Derek on the final day of the WHL's regular season. We'll take you back to his return on the ice and the special moment in Medicine Hat.Finally, we'll have the latest WHL Award Nominees and a look at the Players of the Month for March.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at two Western Hockey League expansion announcements in Penticton and Chilliwack, BC.The Penticton Vees are entering the WHL for the 2025-26 season. Hear from WHL Commissioner Dan Near after the official word in the South Okanagan.  Hear from Vees owner Graham Fraser and Head Coach / General Manager Fred Harbinson.In Chilliwack, an ownership application process has been launched for a franchise to begin play in 2026-27. We will take you to that announcement.There is a new all-time WHL wins leader among goaltenders.  Calgary Hitmen G Daniel Hauser set the new mark in the final weekend of the regular season. We'll have a look back on the record setting moment.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at three key Divisional races heading into the final weekend of the regular season. With all 16 playoffs spots secured, the BC, Central and East Division titles are all up for grabs with just two games to play. Adding to it, several of the teams competing for a Division title all play head-to-head games to round out the season.The WHL and Victory+ have teamed up to offer a new free streaming service for all WHL games beginning with the 2025 WHL Playoffs.  Neil Gruninger is the CEO of A Parent Media Co. Inc which operates Victoty+. He'll join us to give us more information on the product and what WHL fans can expect.  The WHL's Bob Ridley Award for Media Excellence was presented to the family of the late Greg Meachem recently in Red Deer.  Greg's longtime friend Danny Rode joins us. He'll discuss Greg's character and his legacy of covering the Red Deer Rebels and the WHL.----------

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at the race a top the US Division and the Western Conference.  The Everett Silvertips won a key showdown on Wednesday Night in the 'Dub which pushes them to closer to the #1 seed.The University of Saskatchewan Huskies won the Canada West Men's Hockey Championship this past weekend. Now, the roster of WHL alumni will head to the USPORTS National Championships in Ottawa. The Huskies are coached by former longtime Spokane Chief Brandin Cote.  He'll be our guest.A four goal, one assist weekend for Saskatoon Blades F Hunter Laing has netted him the Tempo WHL Player of the Week. He'll talk about his weekend and the Blades in the hunt for an East Division title.  Finally, the Brandon Wheat Kings will honour legend Brian Propp this weekend with a Hall of Fame Induction. We'll hear from one of the all-time leading scorers in WHL history ahead of the event.

He talks about how the event came together and what he's looking forward to when the Medicine Hat Tigers take on the Kelowna Rockets in a pair of exhibition games. What a season for former Portland Winterhawks D Clay Hanus.  The Canada West Player of the Year and his Calgary based Mount Royal Cougars will play for a Canada West title this weekend in Saskatoon against the U of S.  Hanus joins us ahead of the final as he takes advantage of the WHL Scholarship program now in year three of University.The Seattle Thunderbirds are pushing for the final playoff spot in the West.  Head Coach Matt O'Dette joins us to talk about the team's turnaround since the trade deadline.What a season for Victoria Royals F Teydon Trembecky.  With 42 goals so far this season, his past weekend's performance earned him the Tempo WHL Player of the Week. We'll get his thoughts.

Whitehorse native Gavin McKenna will be the star attraction when his Medicine Hat Tigers take on the Kelowna Rockets in a pair of exhibition games.  McKenna - also the Tempo WHL Player of the Week - will be our guest.Canada's win at the Four Nations Face-off has aided by nine WHL alumni.  We'll hear from some WHL Head Coach / GM's on the significant win and what the championship game can teach you. Finally, Calgary Hitmen G Daniel Hauser is on a roll.  He's picked up three shutouts in his last four starts. He's been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week - he'll join us to wrap up the show.

We'll have more on that.The Kelowna Rockets had a special guest at practice this past week.  Buffalo Sabres F and WHL Alum Zach Benson was skating with the Rockets and his brother Levi. We'll have that story.Finally, Kamloops Blazers F Tommy Lafreniere is the top scoring WHL rookie forward to begin the weekend. We'll hear his story on how he's excelled this season.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, takes a look at Vancouver Giants Head Coach Manny Viveiros and his two-pronged battle with Cancer a few years back.  In conversation with the WHL's Cami Kepke, Viveiros talks about the physical and mental battle he went through and how he sought help.Prince Albert Raiders D Daxon Rudolph has entered the chat. The WHL Rookie of the Month for January is coming on strong as he takes his place amongst the best 2008-born players in the WHL.  More from the 1st overall pick in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.Speaking of rookies, Tri-City Americans F Savin Virk is the WHL Rookie of the Week after putting up seven points in three games including his first ever WHL hat-trick.  He'll be our guest.

Find out who his favourite player in the Draft Class might be. The Brandon Wheat Kings are back home after a whirlwind seven game Western road swing.  Defenseman Quinn Mantei capped the final three games of the trip with eight points to be named the Tempo WHL Player of the Week. He's our guest to wrap up the show.   

WHL This Week - Radio Edition features three players who captured weekly WHL Awards and a longtime Coach & General Manager honoured this past weekend by the New York Islanders.Spokane Chiefs F Berkly Catton has been on a tear lately. The Tempo WHL Player of the Week makes up one half of the most dangerous WHL duo along with Andrew Cristall. We'll hear from Berkly.The Medicine Hat Tigers are on a roll heading into the weekend as they lead the Central Division by a point. Goaltender Harrison Meneghin claimed the WHL Goalie of the Week award and joins the show.The WHL features a talented class of 16 year-olds (2008-born) across the league. One of the rising stars in Vancouver Giants D Ryan Lin.  He recently set a new Vancouver Giants record for points in a season by a 16 year-old D. We will hear from the top prospect for the 2026 NHL Draft.Finally, Red Deer Rebels President & General Manager Brent Sutter was inducted into the New York Islanders Hall of Fame in a special ceremony.  Sutter played on Long Island from 1980-1991. We will take you back to that ceremony. 

WHL This Week - Radio Edition, breaks down a busy week leading into the WHL Trade Deadline.We have reaction from some of the big moves around the league.  The Spokane Chiefs acquired F Andrew Cristall from the Spokane Chiefs - Spokane GM Matt Bardsley calls Cristall a "special player".  Bardsley joins us to talk about the blockbuster deal.The Lethbridge Hurricanes landed World Junior D Caden Price from the Kelowna Rockets. Hurricanes GM Peter Anholt tells us why the "Price was Right".The Prince George Cougars landed a coveted top-six forward in Ben Riche from the Saskatoon Blades.  We'll hear from both Riche and Cougars General Manager Mark Lamb.Also, the Tempo WHL Player of the Week is Evan Friesen of the Wenatchee Wild.  He'll join us to wrap up the show after a 10 point week.

WHL This Week - Radio Edition is loaded this week.  We'll take a look at a disappointing ending to Canada's World Junior Tournament in a loss to a WHL-laden Czechia team.  Hear from Czechia import for the Edmonton Oil Kings Adam Jecho and Kelowna Rockets Czechia forward Jakub Stancl as they advance to the semi-finals. Czechia features seven players from WHL Clubs.The WHL's Trade Deadline is seeing some early movement.  The Calgary Hitmen have been busy. They added 20 year-old G Daniel Hauser from Wenatchee on top of several other roster bolstering moves.  Hitmen General Manager Gary Davidson is our guest.The Saskatoon Blades have begun the rebuild after trading veteran F Brandon Lisowsky to Victoria. Blades GM Colin Priestner explains the move.What will the Tri-City Americans do? Ams GM Bob Tory gives us a debriefing just six days before Thursday's deadline.

WHL This Week, has a special Friday the 13th edition as we take a look at 2025 IIHF World Junior hopefuls for both Canada and the USA.  Hear from several players at Canada's Selection Camp from the WHL including Berkly Catton of the Spokane Chiefs, Caden Price of the Kelowna Rockets and others in a bid to wear Canadian colours.On the U.S. side, Edmonton Oil Kings D Blake Fiddler is trying to do the same thing for his home country. He'll be our guest.Also, former Portland Winterhawk Tyson Kozak made his NHL debut this past week with the Buffalo Sabres. We'll go back to that moment for the 21 year-old who also scored his first NHL goal.Finally, Winterhawks D Tyson Jugnauth is the Tempo WHL Player of the Week after a franchise record performance this past weekend.  He'll wrap up the show.
