Description

Tape Heads is a twice-weekly, in-season X-and-O podcast giving fans the “whys and hows” of each week’s NFL action.
In each episode, Dan, Bob and Scott detail the biggest moments of the NFL weekend based on their study of All-22 coaching footage, aka “The Tape.” Conversations fueled by observation and analysis give fans the new insights and information they crave.
But its coverage extends beyond the surface of real time moments and extends into the living history of the National Football League. With diverse insights from former players and executives – who are also life-long fans and students of the game – Tape Heads also provides historical context for the topics of today, as well as an insider’s view of the current trends within the game.
Each week, Tape Heads will look back on what we saw in the previous week’s games, and then look ahead to the next week’s matchups using the “tale of the tape” to predict the keys to victory.

The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast wraps up the season with the top players and picks. Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discuss their favorite combinations of teams and players from the weekend.  Greg thinks the 2nd round starting with Logan Hall was very impressive.  George Pickens was Greg's highest rated WR and this Draft was deep at that position. The Chiefs aren't replacing Tyreek Hill, but Greg explains how Skyy Moore will fit with the team.  Onto the RB's, James Cook fits exactly what the Bills need and want.  Greg goes through the players and team combinations that he thinks will work out very well.  We wrap the season discussing Draft philosophies and how teams can still find talent in some undrafted players. The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast welcomes CBS NFL Analyst Charles Davis to the show.   Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discuss how QB's fell in the Draft and Charles believes teams just stuck to their evaluations.  Charles says the Draft reinforced the thinking of getting players to assist or stop the QB.  We turn to the impressive Draft for the Jets and how their players will impact this team.  The Eagles also grabbed our attention with Howie Roseman making deals throughout the night.  Charles tells us that Houston is his team that really pulled together a great draft without grabbing too many headlines. We wrap up with a look at Travon Walker going #1 and how he'll fit in the NFL. The Tape Heads Podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast recaps the first night of the NFL Draft looking back at all the Round One picks.  Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discuss the pass game still being the #1 priority in the league, even when only one QB was taken.  Greg points out that the top picks were about protecting the passer, completing the pass, or stopping the pass.  The guys don't think it's right to grade drafts because every team has their own boards and hold players in different regards depending on their needs.  We discuss the talent drafted by both the Giants and Jets and the number of moves made after the first ten picks.  We wrap up looking ahead to the Second Round of the Draft and all the talent that's still available. The Tape Heads Podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast kicks off Draft Day with Former NFL GM Rick Spielman joining the show.  Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell ask about the timeline for the day and how teams handle their last hours before drafting.  Rick talks about the expectations of drafted players and what evaluations are still being made.  If you have the top pick, you want a franchise QB but since the Jaguars already have that you can either trade out or take the best available player.  Without a lot of QB's, Rick doesn't feel like there will be a lot of movement...but he does believe one of these QBs will be a surprise like Patrick Mahomes.  Rick likes the mentality of Malik Willis and how moments never seem too big for him.  We discuss how pass rushers will dominate this Draft early followed by the depth of WR's.  Rick gives us some surprise players that have impressed him and could end up being impact players.  We wrap up preparing for Thursday night and discussing how a player sliding down in the draft could ultimately be better for their careers. The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast continues Draft Week with Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discussing the Quarterbacks available and how their job description changes coming into the NFL.  College offenses have pass options that make things easier for QBs, but elite defenses in the NFL can make the transition almost impossible for some prospects.  Greg gives his final analysis of his top five QB prospects.  Teams needing a QB will have to decide between who has the highest ceiling verse who has the quickest ability to start.  We wrap up looking at what we expect teams to do in the Draft, but why a team like Seattle could be a total wildcard. The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast heads into Draft Week with Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell discussing the top players that will be taken starting on Thursday.  Bob points out the WR depth this year and how many players at that position get taken in the Top 10.  Greg says George Pickens is the top WR talent, but big play possibilities is what teams are looking for.  Having WR's that can line up anywhere has also become key which is why Garrett Wilson can bring a lot to a team.   Onto other top names we'll hear in the first round, Greg explains why Travon Walker could be in the top three.  With so much talent available, but no clear superstars, we explore why 'team and scheme' is going to drive what happens in this Draft. The Tape Heads Podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this episode of the Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast, hosts Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell welcome former Alabama/NFL QB Greg McElroy to the show.  We discuss the 'traits' that teams look for in a QB and how those look in college football.  Greg explains how most successful guys he's seen start with a mental makeup to navigate the process and gameday execution.  NFL Prospect Matt Corral is the QB that Greg has really been impressed with through his play and preparation.  A few guys in the Draft have the good traits, but almost all of them have faults as well.  A player like Malik Willis needs time and reps as he's a great athlete who needs to learn how to set his feet and not always be on the move.  Greg sees plenty of WR talent in this Draft and tells us why he wouldn't be spending any higher picks when there is value deep in the position. We wrap up with the different evaluations that some players get from different sources. The Tape Heads Podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
The Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast continues to prepare for the NFL Draft, which is now just a week away.  Hosts Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell talk about Draft philosophies and how plans change as the Draft progresses. We've learned about 'musts' and 'needs' through Draft season, but now we look at how that changes into the later rounds.   Onto the player evaluations, we look at: TE Greg Dulcich, DT Neil Farrell, RB James Cook, WR Makai Polk, WR Kyle Philips, S Bryan Cook, LB Zakoby McClain, DT Matthew Butler, Edge Nick Bonitto, Edge DeAngelo Malone (W. Kentucky) and RB Tyrion Davis-Price. The Tape Heads Podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In this episode of the Tape Heads: Draft Season podcast, hosts Bob Wischusen and Greg Cosell welcome Draft Expert Mike Detillier to the show to discuss how the Draft and player evaluation has changed over the last 30 years.  Mike tells us where teams are right now in their Draft Boards and how information can change a team's priorities.  There are very few secrets these days in evaluations, but Mike explains how a head coach that needs to win now can change a draft course for a franchise.  We turn to the best prospects in the SEC that will be the difference makers in the NFL.  Mike thinks Derek Stingley was one of the most talented players ever at LSU, but his health questions slides him down the Draft Board.  We wrap up discussing the NFL coaching players will be getting and how that can smooth the rough edges of a prospect and help them fit into a franchise system.   The Tape Heads Podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Why the hate for Detroit? They crushed the Cardinals and all you seem to focus on is how bad the Cardinals might be...wth...Focus on the Lions playing right. Things falling their way instead of a random bounce off a crossbar. That even after a turnover they got it back. I haven't finished the episode so Maybe you do hit on Positive Lions talk but I haven't heard it yet. Give them the credit they are Due.
