In March of 2024 at the end of season 2, we had the honor of speaking with Dr. Amber Busay, but due to technical difficulties didn't get to release her episode. We are very excited to finally get to share this wonderful and candid conversation we had with her. She is absolutely and incredible person who finds such passion and joy working our special needs community. As you will hear in her episode, she has a special way of bringing people together and finding the supports each of our children need to be successful and overcoming barriers. She has worked in the field of special education for over 15 years. She began her journey as a paraprofessional in a non-public school setting. After realizing her dream was to continue to work with children with special needs, she went back and obtained her Master's of Art in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism. She then pursued additional schooling and received her BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), where she continued to work in the non-public setting as a behavior analyst, mainly working with students with severe inappropriate behaviors under varying eligibility categories. Dr. Amber Busay then moved to the school district setting as a behavior intervention specialist in Travis Unified School District, where she completed her doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Special Education. Here is how you can reach Dr. Amber Busay:Website: www.abbehaviorconsulting.comEmail: abusay@abbehaviorconsulting.comPhone: 707-903-0511LEAVE US A COMMENT ~ We love connecting with you!WEB: www.specialkindofchaos.comIG: specialkindofchaos.podFB: SpecialKindOfChaosPODTikTok: @specialkindofchaosThrough sharing our candid experiences we hope to bring awareness, share resources and services while ultimately lifting each other up as we navigate our special needs journey together.

This week's episode we talk about the importance of communication in all of the relationships we have built in our special needs lives...and how important it is to building, keeping and repairing trust. Being a special needs parent is hard, we are continuously in a state of "fight mode" and turning that off can be impossible. The keys to success have continuously been tied to good communication about our children. Often our children can't communicate all of their thoughts or needs, so we as parents NEED the people in our children's lives to be a voice for them.

Welcome to A Special Kind of Chaos – A Podcast about all things Special Needs.
This episode we talk a little about "Severe Autism left in the dark" and what that means. Angel had an experience with her son that unexpectedly caused us to take a vacation from our podcast. After suffering from her latest concussion she took a much needed break. As you will hear in this recording she is still recovering...which is why I keep asking her if she can remember certain things. Concussions can take a long time to recover from. This podcast is unscripted, our goal is to be authentic and real as we discuss the twists and turns of our special needs journey. We are vocal, real, honest and hardly ever politically correct, which in turn means...you never know what kind of Chaos they are going to stir up.
