Lawrence Wilkerson is a retired US Army Colonel and former chief of staff to US Secretary of State Colin Powell. Former CIA officer and bestselling author Barry Eisler joins us to discuss his new novel, The System. Here is what I wrote about the book:
The System depicts a fictionalized version of the late US Empire—an economic and military juggernaut now in terminal decline as the regime and its institutions buckle under the weight of their own corrupt and corrupting inertia. With compelling prose, Eisler has written a deep political thriller in which the characters exist in shades of gray. They all must accommodate various governmental and private sector interests in such a way as to become complicit in a system so illegitimate that its true dimensions cannot be candidly discussed or explained in “mainstream” settings. Let us hope that entertaining fiction like this can help snap Americans out of their red/blue partisan trances and unite them against their real enemy—the oligarchic regime itself.

We recommend that people watch the film before listening since we don’t attempt to give any organized synopsis, nor do we avoid spoilers. Listen at your own risk!

Bernie Sanders is a sheepdog. Now he's running around hosting these "Resist Oligarchy" rallies while propping up US imperialism and taking a piss poor stance on Palestine to boot.
"Joe Biden was a lot less terrible" Yeah, give him a minute 😆
this guy is good, people from BAR usually are.
Jill Stein was a better candidate and no more of a long shot.
"hyper-capitalism" i.e. capitalism doing exactly what it's designed to do. I never heard Bobby say shit about Medicare for All.
had any of you pondered the very real possibility that Bobby is a dog brained rapist idiot with a stupid fucking voice and forehead to match?
yeah, turns out "Bobby" was a cynical, idiot piece of shit who supported Zionism because he's a wretched human and a bunch of Kennedy boomers fell for it. And there's almost certainly sexual blackmail afoot.
Brandon Mills Shut Up!!!
Trump 2024!!!!
This guy's politics are all over the place.
Ritter is an absolute oaf.
Zionists should be shunned and driven out of polite society.
He may cover it in the piece but what, exactly, is the relationship between the peshmerga and ISIS? They're both taking direct orders from the agency? Why would Kurds hand over oil assets to ISIS?
I also remember them being pretty effective against ISIS and eventually cutting some kind of deal with the Assad government. Maybe I'm feeling salty about this but listening to criticism of Rojava is rich coming from guys who couldn't suck RFK Jr's dick enough even though it was obvious he was an evil sack of shit.
I'd like to hear Brace Belden speak candidly and extensively about CIA involvement in the YPJ/YPG since he was there.
Pretty sure a lot of the Rojava people were Maoists and MLs but that whole thing was so foggy who the fuck knows.
Peter Daou was a 2016 Hillary freak who jumped ship and started shitting on the Dems at every opportunity, he seems alright. Questioning the seriousness of Cornel West while supporting an idiot charlatan like RFK Jr. is pretty funny.
Goldstone is one of the great cowards of history.
Can you imagine how vibrant and multicultural Germany would have been if Jews and Germans had worked together? It warms the heart.
If you had one secular, Democratic state (the best option) it wouldn't be called Israel for long. Israel has no right to exist.
