Life brings lessons in many different ways. This past week I worked hard to prepare for a craft show, and unfortunately it was not well attended. At the end of the day, I still had a great time.  The time that I spent getting to know the other vendors was worth so much more, and I will always have great memories of this past weekend.  When we are gracious with an attitude of gratitude, it's amazing how much we can see things in a different light.  In this episode I share what I was able to take from this experience, and I will continue to try to find this focus as I move forward to my next chapter.  It's amazing how our view on the kaleidoscope of life can be amazing when we use a positive lens. I am a creative thinker, and maybe a bit on the quirky side. I recognize my creative thoughts don't work on a 9-5 schedule. When the urge to write short stories, poetry or a podcast hits, I simply need to stop and get that creative urge out of the way so I can better focus on projects around me.  Most creatives understand this scenario, and it can present challenges when balancing creative moments with responsibility. In this episode I had a wonderful discussion with Lisa Zawrotny, the founder of  Positively Productive Systems and the host of the Positively Living Podcast. Together we talk about the challenges of a creative mind, methods to prioritize while allowing the inner artist to blossom. If you are a "creative", you will likely relate to this and if not, it may help bring some understanding to the creatives in your life.  *AUDIO EPISODES:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*FACEBOOK GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*SUPPORT THE SHOW - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfb COURTESY LINKS:Episode Guest: Lisa Zawrotny, Productivity Strategist & Accountability CoachPositively Productive Systems https://positivelyproductive.com/about-me-2/Support the show
There are times in business when people make mistakes. It happens, and it's life.  People are humans and humans make mistakes.  Quite often people have a different reaction tomistakes, whether from the business perspective or the customer view.  Either way, presentation and response can make a big difference on the final outcome.   Sometimes we are faced with a situation and don't have time to think, and may find ourselves second guessing our own reaction.  Either way, kindness on both sides can go a long way in mending a difficult situation.*Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfbThis podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. Homesick is a term I had almost forgotten about until my recent return to Canada's beautiful Yukon.   I was quite surprised at the flood of emotions that targeted my heart on the last day of my trip.  A little stroll through my old neighborhood brought back so many memories, and the hugs of my grandchildren and sisters made it really hard to leave.  At the same time, I was happy to return to my current home on Vancouver Island.  I figured it out.  My heart is in two places, and even though I am now an island girl, I will always be a Klondiker at heart.*After recording I thought about all the people around the world who are displaced during times of conflict and war. I realized how lucky I am to have my home, and my wish as always is for peace.*Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfbThis podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. It's International Women's Day , 2024.   What does that mean to you?  For me, it's not about celebrating me but more about celebrating the amazing trailblazers from generations before me.  It's hard to believe that at one time Canada's Supreme Court ruled that women were not people.  In this episode I reflect on the advancements of women's rights, and give thanks to all people who worked hard for fair and equal recognition.*Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfbCourtesy Link:Referenced history info from: https://psac-ncr.com/canadian-womens-history/This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. Syd Bosel is no stranger to laughter.  This light-hearted, fun-loving comedian thrives on bringing smiles to her audience, and she has entertained thousands of people.  From her home in the Comox Valley, Syd works hard behind the scenes looking after everything from scripts and performance notes to social media and promoting fun.  A well-known performer on Vancouver Island, Syd made islanders proud with her performance on Canada's Got Talent in 2023.  It takes courage to get up on stage, especially on national television!    Behind the scenes, Syd is a real person, and in today's episode she shares some of the challenges she is facing as a wife, life-time partner and performer.  With her husband diagnosed with dementia, time is of the essence for this beautiful lady and her loving spouse. 108 - Define Fun

Fun.  A three letter word with lots of punch to it.  What defines fun?  Fun for one person may not be fun for another.  Do you have to be good at something to have fun?  In this episode I touch briefly on the topic of fun, and the importance of having fun in day to day living.  This is just a "taster episode" to get you thinking about this topic, and next week I will be chatting with a well known comedian who has graced the stage on national television with her humor.  *Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfb6This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. Neighborhoods can be a lot of fun, and sometimes they can be a challenge. In today's episode I share stories of the good and not so good, with a positive focus on neighbors who became like my own family.  From hot apple pie to a neighbor signing in his hot tub at 2 am nightly, life is never dull.   I wrap up with a short clip from JD the Flowerman, as he shares a story of how he tries to make life better in his own neighborhood. Pay it Forward is a term we often associate with buying someone a coffee at the drive-thru.  Have you ever picked up the tab for someone you didn't know, simply because you wanted to do a kind thing?  Does Pay it Foward only happen with restaurants and drive-thru's, or is it a concept that can be applied in every day life?  In this episode I talk about Pay it Forward, and it started with a set of tires dumped in the woods.  This is a shorter episode with a big message: small acts of kindness can go a long way.*Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show - Buy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfb6This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. In the early 1970's, it was common to see newspapers, magazines and posters promoting cigarettes and smoking.  As a young girl, I even pretended to smoke with crayons, and followed the example of many adults.  In those days, it was promoted as visually attractive to smoke vs today where we know so much more.  It's not easy to quit, especially for people who started many years ago.  Not easy does not mean impossible.  In this episode I share some personal stories, my own experience with smoking and offer some encouragement to people who are facing the challenge of quitting today.  No room for judgment, simply support. *Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcastCourtesy Links:Mind Over Matter Journal - Coil Bound (available in Canada)Mind over Matter Journal - Amazon CanadaThis podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. January is Alzheimer's Awareness Month. In this episode, I share my own personal experience from the perspective of a family member wanting to bring help and resources to a community in northern Canada. This episode is suitable for all ages, whether you are a teenager or a senior.  Alzheimer's and related dementias affect our friends, neighbor, parents, grandparents and even co-workers. An approach of kindness, caring and understanding can go a long way. *This episode is not scripted, and speaking from the heart.  Any reference to an organization is simply referring to my experience as a care group facilitator, and does not represent the views of any organization. *Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcastThis podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. The power of our minds is a beautiful thing, and sometimes we have to make a concentrated effort to use willpower for personal wellness.  In this episode I share a time when "mind over matter" helped me to navigate grief and physical obstacles.  Willpower plays a preventative role in healthy choices, and when we are no longer in control of those choices it's time to reach out for help.Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show:  https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfb6This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. *Quick note:  A shorter episode recorded on my cell phone. A Sunday afternoon walk by the ocean felt so great, and it reminded me of the need to spend time outside with fresh air.  A bit of reflections, and a reminder to never give up if you fall away from your New Year's Resolutions. This is nothing fancy or scripted, simply an outside walk with nature and a wish to peace in our changing world.*Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcastThis podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. Happy New Year!  As we begin 2024, many people are creating resolutions with goals that may last a day, or perhaps two.  How about the goal of positivity for the  new year?  Many factors can affect positive living, including the power of thought and our own actions.  At the end of the day, we all have a role to play in the power of positivity.  We can't always control what life brings us, but we can control what we bring to life. How does a podcaster celebrate 100 episodes? I had so many great ideas, so little time, and chose to do what works best for me:  unscripted and speaking from the heart.  In this episode I simply cover what is on my mind, including the many reasons to be grateful, how we can help others and finding ways to help bring peace into this world. *Thank you so much to my listeners, whether you are new or just coming on board.  I truly appreciate you.  Have a peaceful and wonderful holiday season, and I look forward to bringing you more episodes with a fresh new outlook in the new year.*Audio Correction:  I refer to Episode 3  in the podcast but it was actually Episode 2. Life gets busy, and times are changing.  As we head into the holidays this is a timeto focus on positives, look at what is good and try to advocate for positive changearound us.  We are all human and make mistakes, and sometimes we just need to slowdown, breathe and focus on what really matters in life.  I dedicate this episode today to my oldest sister Denise, who has reminded me that sometimes we just need to focus on the rainbows and push those clouds aside.  This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. Christmas is supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year, but is it?  For some people, yes, and for others, it's a ball of stress, overload and financial burden.  It's not supposed to be that way. Welcome Back! After a month of not recording I concluded that I really miss my podcast.  Hardly a day goes by where I don't think about it. This is where all the creativity began, and I love sharing  positive stories.  Sometimes we need to take a break, stop, and look at where we can make changes.  I tried to stop recording, but my heart is still here in the podcast. It doesn't change that life got too busy, and I needed to stop, refocus and find new directions.  Sometimes if we go back to basics, we discover that there truly is a way.  It felt great this morning to go back to my original intro music.  I kept the episode short, and spoke from the heart. That's how it began, and this is how I will return. Simple, straightforward and speaking from the heart.  *Audio Episodes:  https://www.lindysaudiocafe.com*Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/lindysaudiocafepodcast*Support the Show:  https://www.buymeacoffee.com/lefhxiyfb6This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only. Today's episode was created after a week of reflection.   As we head into Thanksgiving weekend, it's important to recognize that although we have many things to be grateful for, it has not always been an easy path for everyone around us. To the contrary, for some people history has left a legacy of trauma and painful memories. It is important to set aside time, reflect and listen to the stories shared by elders in our communities. In today's episode I touch base on many topics, including gratitude, the celebration of Thanksgiving, sadly the impact of the residential schools and the importance of listening, learning and caring.   As we talk about celebrations, it is important to acknowledge where they began, and move forward with respect and compassion.   *This podcast is created in Comox, BC.  I respectfully acknowledge that the land we gather on is on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land. This podcast is not intended to provide any legal, medical or personal advice, and is recorded for fun and entertainment purposes only.
