Description
Missing in Alaska is a deep dive into the mysterious disappearance of Congressmen Hale Boggs and Nick Begich, whose plane vanished in Alaska in 1972. Despite the largest search in American history, no sign of the men ever surfaced. Officials blamed ice, and a nation consumed with Watergate and Vietnam quickly moved on. Two decades later, a murderer and bomber with mafia ties made a startling claim to the F.B.I.: The plane was bombed. Was he lying? Journalist Jon Walczak, who has investigated the case since 2011, travels from Arizona to the Arctic Circle trying to uncover the truth.

I looked up information about Scott Day and he was a creepy guy. It’s even creepier how he ended his letters with “Be a good human”!He was definitely not a good human. Psychologically fascinating.
I wish I could help in the search. It sounds like so much fun exploring.
Excellent investigative journaling! I know can’t be proved but for me there’s enough probable evidence to convince me that there is a darn good chance that the congressman was blown up. I also wonder if the congressman’s wife knew about it and had something to do with it.
It makes me think of modern day fracking, and what that does to people and environment. The level of greed some people have is nauseating to me.
This podcast is excellent. I was born and still live in Tucson, Arizona. I was four years old in 1974. I find this really fascinating
Excellent episode. I enjoyed listening to the story the pilot wrote. It describes the environment clearly. It also gives a pretty good glimpse at his personality.
Maybe I misheard, but I thought that the last transmission from the missing plane was Southwest about 8 miles from Juneau, Alaska . Couldn’t the plane have gotten through the pass and crashed closer to Juneau, Alaska ?
