Until this season, it hadn’t played in a major bowl game in decades. And while the University of Miami was a football powerhouse in the 1980s and ‘90s, it last won a championship in 2001.Both schools have showered lavish pay packages on head coaches credited with turning their programs around. The stake comes with a GSG board seat, court-side seats for GSG teams and access to the ownership lounge, the people added. NASCAR on Thursday settled an antitrust lawsuit brought by Michael Jordan’s racing team alleging that the organization holds a monopoly over premier stock car racing in the US and that its charter agreements are unlawful. As a condition of the proposed deal, which came on the ninth day of a trial, NASCAR will amend the terms for existing charter holders, which will include a form of “evergreen” charters. Jordan’s team, 23XI Racing, and another plaintiff team, Front Row Motorsports Inc., will have chartered-team status for the 2026 season under the deal, according to a statement from the teams’ lead attorney, Jeffrey Kessler of Winston & Strawn LLP. Chartered teams are guaranteed racing slots in NASCAR’s elite Cup Series. Netflix also won the rights to the Field of Dreams game, which is played where the movie Field of Dreams was made in Iowa. ESPN will air around 30 regular-season games, as it did previously, and now also has the rights to market MLB.TV as part of its ESPN streaming service. MLB.TV lets subscribers watch games outside the markets where they live. ESPN also gets in-market games for six teams. Cleveland Guardians all-star pitcher Emmanuel Clase pleaded not guilty to charges he participated in an alleged scheme to rig bets based on pitches he threw during Major League Baseball games.Michael Ferrara, a lawyer for Clase, entered the plea on his behalf at a federal court hearing on Thursday in Brooklyn, New York. US Magistrate Judge Joseph Marutollo released Clase on $600,000 bond and restricted his travel to New York and Ohio. Federal prosecutors charged Clase, 27, and teammate Luis Ortiz, 26, last week of conspiring with bettors to throw specific types and speeds of pitches in exchange for bribes.
