What Summer movie season we've had! More great movies than you can shake a stick at! It's enough for Gavin and Iain to dust off the the microphone (breaking the mount in the process, SONUVA!) to share their thoughts on James Gunn's take on Superman, Fantastic Four: First Steps and Liam Neeson's first outing as Frank Drebin in the new The Naked Gun.
Which of these do we hope are just the first entries in long running series,? Which would we rather not see again? WHAT DID WE THINK OF GALACTUS!?
To find out the answers to these, and more you'll need to listen to the podcast!

This week’s podcast is a little different. To mark the arrival of Gavin’s film Geng Kubur on Netflix at the end of August 2024, we teamed up with the Geeks in Malaysia podcast for a special crossover episode!
In this special podcast Nick and Amelia (from Geeks In Malaysia) and I interview some of the cast and crew of the movie including:
Gavin Yap (writer and director)
Khairil M Bahar (cinematographer)
Firdaus Sufiyan (plays Firhan in the movie)
Mia Sara Shauki (plays Melati in the movie)
Join us for this wide ranging, behind the scenes conversation but be warned we were a little... looser than normal with our spoiler warnings. We highly recommend watching the movie first, before listening to the podcast.
So enjoy this behind the scenes look at Malaysian film making and prepare yourself for Amelia’s…um... unique way of opening the podcast.

Only one man...ok two men could get us to record a podcast so soon after the last one, DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE!
We weren't going to miss the chance to talk X-Men, the return of Hugh Jackman, how was Wolverine's hair and suit, whether Deadpool talked too much and of course share our thoughts on all references and cameos throughout the movie.
Join us as we amuse ourselves at Ryan Reynold's, Hugh Jackman's and Marvel's expense and share all the juicy details we enjoyed in the movie. If somehow you STILL haven't seen Deadpool and Wolverine, we hold off on discussing spoilers until 16:48 , but short version; if you liked the first 2 you'll probably like this.

Y'now we did have a super timely and up to the minute movie review podcast recorded and ready to go but then... as you know life sometimes gets in the way. If you're listening to our podcasts you know our schedule can be a bit... erratic anyway so I'm sure you are used to it by now. This week we have a watery double bill as director Xavier Gens takes us Under Paris and for our main event it's the return (again) of Godzilla in Takashi Yamazaki's Godzilla Minus One.
Both movies really caught us by surprise so we hope you'll enjoy hearing is discuss them.
Both Godzilla Minus One & Under Paris are still on Netflix so, like us, you have no excuse to not watch them!

Giving up any pretense of keeping up with current releases, Gavin and Iain delve into 1994's The Crow on our latest podcast. Starring the late Brandon Lee and directed by Alex Proyas this is such a formative movie for us it's amazing we've not covered it before. Having not seen it in a few years, can it possibly stand up to today's modern movie standards? Is there room for the original to be improved upon by the upcoming remake starring Bill Skarsgård (spoilers: that's a big fat no!).
Join us as we discuss our feelings on the film, what makes it stand out to us today, our love of the mazing cast and a taste of what we might be doing in future.

Yes! We're actually (relatively) current with our latest podcasts, as Iain and Gavin share what they thought of "Barbenheimer". Did we love Greta Gerwig's Barbie? Did Chris Nolan's Oppenheimer blow our minds?
Find out in a show where we also review Malaysian film Hungry Ghost Diner, directed by friend of the show We Jun Cho. Iain also shares the result when he finally sat down to check out William Fiendkin's Sorcerer.
As usual you can contact us at the social media accounts below to let us know what you thought of the show or anything else you want to share with us. Did you manage to Catch Hungry Ghost Diner in the cinema? What did you think? What was YOUR Barbeheimer experience? Did you wear pink for Barbie? Did you dress up for Oppenheiumer?

McYapAndFries tries something a little different this week as we revisit 1995’s Johnny Mnemonic in Black and White!
After only hearing about this newish version of the cyberpunk "classic" recently, Iain and Gavin had to get their hands on a copy to check it out. And it was cheap!.
Join us on this week's podcast as we revisit the nightmare cyberpunk future of.... 2021!??
Directed by Robert Longo, written by cyberpunk legend William Gibson and starring McYapandFries favourite Keanu Reeves as Johnny himself, we really didn't know what to expect with this one but were pleasantly surprised!
Also on the show Gavin and Iain chat about Willow leaving Disney+, the latest shenanigans in Hollywood and we experience a little confusion over what actually happened at the end of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood before diving deep into the Keanu Reeves “Classic”.
If you enjoyed the show (or have thoughts on the movie, in color or Black and white) or have other VHS classics you'd like us to revisit(Brainscan! Surviving The Game) you can contact us via the usual social media networks:

As usual we also digress into some tangents on the best long comic book and answer actual question from actual listeners!!

On this weeks's even more rambling than usual podcast, Gavin and Iain discuss Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Ricky Gervais's latest stand-up special SuperNature and just a soupcon of Top Gun: Maverick before diving deep into the Ted Bundy drama No Man Of God, starring McYapandFries favourite Elijah Wood and Luke Kirby, Iain professes his love for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and finally, we celebrate the life and roles of actor, legend Ray Liotta.
Apologies in advance for some clicking issues with the audio. Despite being a well respected VO director someone still finds new ways to make editing the podcast a nightmare.
As to why he 's recording his own audio, well you can catch Mr. Gavin Yap acting LIVE in Muswell Hill at the Drama Centre Theatre at the National Library, Singapore, from 24th June to 10th July.
Ticket prices are SG$35-85 at either Pangdemonium.com or sistic.com.sg.

We couldn't let the recent announcement that Bruce Willis is retiring from acting go without comment so what better time to celebrate the life, the career and roles of the man who redefined the actions hero for many of us.
Yes Gavin and Iain are back with another podcast eschewing the limits of format or forward planning, for a wander down memory lane as we discuss what Bruce Willis' on screen career has meant to us over the years. From Die Hard to Death Becomes Her , Last Man Standing to Hudson Hawk, Pulp Fiction to The Fifth Element.
