On the latest episode of Syracuse Sports, Brent Axe discusses how the Syracuse football season has entered a weird space where there is five games to go in 2025, but all attention already seems to be shifting to next year if SU can't get its QB situation straightened out.  That noted, there are still games to be played this year and the Orange have a trip to No.7 Georgia Tech on Saturday on tap. Chad Bishop of the Atlanta-Journal Constitution joins Brent to discuss how Brent Key has built the Yellow Jackets into an ACC contender, how QB Haynes King has been the MVP of the ACC this season and if Georgia Tech has any weak points SU can attack.  Bishop also tells Axe what Syracuse basketball is getting in new point guard Naithan George, who transferred to the Orange from Georgia Tech.  Music provided by Ginger Slim.  Would like your original music or know of a great band we should feature on Syracuse Sports? Brent Axe and Chris Carlson recap Syracuse football's 30-13 loss to Pittsburgh at the JMA Dome  Brent and Chris discuss the QB shuffle SU played with Rickie Collins and Luke Carney and how the struggles at the QB position and SU's inability to run a functional offense were costly against Pitt and will be going forward.  Will fans hang around for five more games in what is looking more and more like a developmental season for the Orange, now 3-4 with five games to go?  Brent and Chris also discuss Fran Brown's honest admission of "one of the worst things that I’ve done" and how a terrific effort by the SU defense was wasted against Pitt.  The conversation on Syracuse Sports and the Syracuse football postgame show is always shaped by terrific insight from Syracuse Sports Insiders.  Become a Syracuse Sports Insider today! On the latest episode of Syracuse Sports presented by Crouse Health, Brent Axe brings you the best things he heard at Syracuse basketball media day and talks SU football with former RB Damien Rhodes.  You'll hear what Adrian Autry, Kiyan Anthony, Sadiq White, JJ Starling, Donnie Freeman, Naithan George, William Kyle III and more have to say about the upcoming Syracuse basketball season.  Then Brent and Damien discuss where Orange football is at the midway point of the season and what Fran Brown's team needs to do to stay on track for a bowl game. Rhodes also gives his take on how Orange QB Rickie Collins can improve and get comfortable in SU's offense, what the running backs are doing right and wrong and how a defense ranked 129th in the country can tighten its belt.   Music provided by Mimicking Mars.  YouTube https://www.youtube.com/@UCDRqGO-6bRlaMmfOtn9vpJQ  Would like your original music or know of a great band we should feature on Syracuse Sports? Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown is sticking with Rickie Collins as his starting quarterback out of the Orange's bye week against Pittsburgh.  Can Collins improve from generating nearly 19 points fewer against Power-Four competition for the Orange offense?  According to Pro Football Focus, Collins has a turnover-worthy play percentage of 7.5 percent this season, which means that 7.5 percent of his drop backs this season have resulted in plays were likely to end in a turnover. That is the worst rate in the country among quarterbacks who have at least 100 drop backs this season. Despite playing in just four games and only starting two, Collins is tied for 19th in the country with five interceptions, according to PFF. Brent Axe discusses that and how Fran Brown handled a question about his name coming up for bigger jobs (in this case Penn State) at a recent press conference.  Axe also chats with Chris Peak from Panther Lair to get a preview of the Pitt Panthers squad that comes to the JMA Dome on Saturday. Peak discusses how the Panthers made a significant quarterback change and how it has changed the trajectory of its season, the SU-Pitt series and what (if anything) SU can exploit in a matchup they come into as 10.5-point underdogs.  Music provided by Rumble Strip https://www.youtube.com/@UCJ3LCvPiy9YUP-SJntMs_9g  Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/rumble_strip/it-could-always-be-worse Would like your original music or know of a great band we should feature on Syracuse Sports? Noah Eagle has rapidly ascended to a position as one of America's best play-by-play broadcasters. Eagle, 28, has broadcasted from the Olympics, called a Super Bowl for Nickelodeon, served as the play-by-play voice of the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets and calls Big Ten Football for NBC Sports.  Eagle, a 2019 graduate of Syracuse University is about to step into one of the biggest gigs of his career as a primary play-by-play voice for the NBA on NBC.  Eagle and Brent Axe discussed the task of mixing nostalgia (we all remember that NBC 'Roundball Rock' theme song!) with the current bells and whistles available in modern broadcasting.  Axe and Eagle also discuss what role Carmelo Anthony will play on NBC's NBA coverage, the lessons he took from Mike Tirico that he'll now get to employ along with Tirico on NBC, if calling Big 10 college football still feels like college sports in the NIL/transfer portal era and some 2025-26 NBA storylines. Rickie Collins or Luke Carney at quarterback? How will head coach Fran Brown and defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson fix the 124th-rated defense in college football. Is there still a path for Syracuse football to make a bowl game?  On the latest episode of Syracuse Sports, Brent Axe, Chris Carlson and Javon Edmonds tackle those questions and more as they examine SU football's 2025 season at its bye week and midway point.  Music provided by Nate Gross Band. Ford Stadium in Dallas to discuss the big question: Can Syracuse football ride out Rickie Collins' growing pains this season? Collins struggled again in his second start, finishing 22-of-45 for 279 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions.  With the bye week coming up, will Luke Carney get an opportunity to work his way into first-team reps or will Fran Brown stick it out with Collins? Brent Axe discusses the breaking news that Syracuse QB Steve Angeli is out for the season and how SU will move on from here under backup Rickie Collins. Angeli suffered a torn achillies against Clemson, according to ESPN.  Axe discusses the skillset Collins brings to the Orange offense and how OC Jeff Nixon could adjust based on that. It was a close competition between Angeli and Collins in training camp and now Collins gets the chance to prove he can be QB 1 with Angeli out for the year.  Who steps into the role of QB2 now with Collins taking over as the starter? Will it be freshman Luke Carney or Jakhari Williams stepping up to backup Collins?
