WHAT'S UP, Y'ALL!? We're back to wrap up our season on Disney TV shows. Listen as we discuss the possible changing of some things for future of the podcast as well as the shows on the docket today. Bri covers The Jersey & Even Stevens while Erica covers Lizzie McGuire and That's So Raven. Which one was your favorite?
If you aren't a fan of our banter or what we discuss in upcoming episodes, please feel free to skip to around the 13 minute mark where we start digging into the talk on the shows.
There will be some changes going forward with the show, so please make sure you follow us on our social media accounts for updates.
THANK YOU!
You guys! We had the honor and privilege of interviewing two incredible women, one of them just happens to be a former Mouseketeer! That's right. We have Jennifer McGill and Summer Simmons, of the Club Rewind podcast, on the show with us. Jennifer and Summer are life-long BFFs. We talk about their experiences with the All New Mickey Mouse Club, their careers, and what they are doing now. They were so fun and so cool to chat with. Please make sure you follow them and listen to their podcast for way more details than what we could get into in this interview. We really enjoyed being able to chat with these two-powerhouses.
WE'RE ALIVE! WE'RE STILL HERE! This is the first of our 2-part season finale. In this episode we catch up with each other, how we've been dealing with life, and some of the earlier live-action tv shows we millennials might recall, like.....oh, say, I don't know....Mickey Mouse Club? The show that launched the careers of some of our favorite entertainers? Amongst that, some other ones like Teen Angel, Flash Forward, and Famous Jett Jackson. Listen to hear our takes on those shows, how Erica likes her pickles, and Bri's thoughts on the Eras Tour. We'll be back soon to wrap up the season! Thanks!
Ever had one of those shows that you watched as a kid, but it seems like no one else knew what you were talking about when you describe it to them? That's kind of what we're talking about today. We're calling them Fever Dream Shows, because we weren't convinced they were real. Perhaps we were too young when they were first out, or perhaps not even a twinkle in our dad's eye. We had a lot of fun discussing Welcome to Pooh Corner, The Wuzzles, Under the Umbrella Tree, and Adventures in Wonderland. Listen and find out how weird we were as children (I mean, we're weird adults too).
Here we are, folks! Miss us? We have a lot to cover in this episode. Today, we chat about the Disney TV shows that were based on Disney movies. To be honest, they all feel like fever dreams, but do you remember the Little Mermaid show? Aladdin? Heck, Mighty Ducks?! We all remember them fondly, but we are here to talk about how sometimes nostalgia sometimes paints a better picture than what was really going on. But hey, you can decide for yourself. Don't forget to share with us your favorite Disney shows with us over on our social media. Catch ya later!
YOU. GUYS! You probably thought we ghosted you like a bad Tinder date who stalks your Instagram stories for months. BUT WE'RE BACK (unlike your bad Tinder date)! We're excited to share this episode with you. We chat about some Disney cartoons we loved in the late 90s/early 00s like Recess, Pepper Ann, Proud Family, Kim Possible, and Phineas & Ferb. Listen as we struggle coming to terms with just how old we are (what else is new). OH! Also, you might be able to hear Bri's dog snoring in the background. If you count how many snores are in this episode and let us know, you might get a prize from us. We love you guys. We'll be back soon.
Back again with another trip down Memory Lane. This episode, we chat about some more Disney Channel cartoons that made our childhoods a little brighter: Darkwing Duck, Goof Troop, Bonkers, and Gargoyles. We also discuss how different it is to watch these shows as an adult. Sometimes it leads you to wonder, "Why did I find this so amusing?" Or even, "Man. This really stood the test of time. The '90s were great." Honestly though...what we wouldn't give to be 6 years old watching Goof Troop with a bowl of Lucky Charms. Or maybe Cinnamon Toast Crunch. (This episode is not sponsored by General Mills. I'm just really hungry.) Now I'm off to go daydream about how cool it would have been to say, "Hi, I'm Brianne and you're watching the Disney Channel." *makes Mickey outline with magic wand*
Here we are again! New season! Lots of info and episodes coming at you in the weeks ahead. We asked, you answered, we listened to what you wanted to hear about so DISNEY CHANNEL TV it is! We're starting off the season strong with the OG shows like Duck Tales, Gummi Bears, Chip and Dale Rescue Rangers, and Tale Spin. Total classics. You're probably singing one of those theme songs in your head right now. Sorry we're not sorry.
Listen as Bri does mental gymnastics trying to explain the word "anthropomorphic" and tries to keep up with all the fantastic info Erica throws at us. Also stay tuned at the end for some cartoon quiz questions. Did you get them right?
We'll see you soon for episode 2!
WHOOO! We made it to the end of the season! Of course all these movies aren't AAAAALLLL the movies that made us cry, but it's a good place to start...an amuse bouche, if you will. This episode we dive in to two early 2000s favorites: Remember the Titans and The Notebook. So many great lessons about respect, teamwork, and leadership learned from Remember the Titans. And well, in The Notebook we learned that two very flawed people can still find love. So maybe there's still hope for you! Cheers to you for sticking with us this season. We hope you've enjoyed it as much as we have.
The late 90s were great! Dial-up internet, cable tv, Napster, playing outside with your friends until the street lights came on...and of course two more movies we are discussing today: Stepmom and The Iron Giant. Have you heard Bri cry in an episode yet? No, because it's a first. Don't worry. No blubbering. But the mood is lightened as we chat about a childhood favorite. Who knew Vin Diesel did voice acting before Groot? Speaking of "WHO," find out how The Who and The Iron Giant are connected. Lots of fun facts about that one! Catch you all next week as we wrap up this season! ~*MuAh*~
What do you remember most about 1997? It was definitely a huge year at the box office! In this episode we discuss two real-life tragedies-turned-epic movies: Selena and Titanic. Again, very different films but with profound impact. What would life be like if J.Lo never got to play Selena? Where would the world be without "My Heart Will Go On?" Could you actually go ANYWHERE in 1997/1998 and NOT hear that song? Somewhere in an alternate universe, there are younger millennials that have never heard of Celine Dion. OR J.LO! That, my friends, is a tragedy in and of itself. If that's too depressing to think about, have a listen to this episode. While we can't promise it will cheer you up completely (these movies are sad movies after all), at least you'll remember simpler times when all you wanted in life was to have Jack draw you like one of his French girls.
We're throwing it all the way back to 1995 this episode. What a great year! Talking about two vastly different movies here as well: Braveheart and A Little Princess. Did we watch Braveheart as kids? We probably shouldn't have, but dang. It had a GRIP on our parents and older siblings. Us millennials too, later on. As far as A Little Princess goes, it's one we had on repeat and probably ruined the VHS tapes we had. Did our brothers like it? Probably not but they could have used the emotional education. How did you feel about these movies? Stick around and listen for some 1995 trivia as well. We tried to keep this episode short(er) given the exciting lengthy previous episode! Hopefully you're all caught up and you still like us. We'll catch you next time.
Is this the longest episode we've had so far? Yes. Did Bri edit out over half an hour of A+ chit chat? Yes. Is this episode worth listening to every minute? Double yes. This episode, Bri and Erica were joined by their friend, Christy. Christy is an avid cinephile, writer, baker, reader, entrepreneur, and all around creative genius. She has excellent input into our two movies of discussion this week: Lion King and Forrest Gump. Absolute classics. Listen as we find out some fun facts, butcher exquisite song lyrics, recast one of the classics, mention Uzbekistan, and deep dive into how these films helped shape us. Intrigued? Good.
How many movies that were made for kids still make you cry? I wish I knew how many, but they probably all have to do with cute animals who love their humans. Just like Shadow, Chance and Sassy did in Homeward Bound. While you're listening if you want to play a game, take a shot (drink of choice) every time Brianne calls Chance, "Shadow." Woof. Take an extra if you also had a mini heart attack realizing 2002 was 20 years ago, not like, 5. Then make sure you drink all your water every time Bri and Erica use the word, "Edwardian," while talking about Secret Garden. This ought to be fun!
Make sure you rate, review, and subscribe wherever you listen to us! Talk to you next week.
HEYYYY-O! "I only surround myself with people I find intellectually stimulating," - Vada Sultenfuss, which is why you should listen to this episode. Obviously "My Girl" was one of the movies that defined our generation for a multitude of reasons. This movie still pulls on our heartstrings. The other film we discuss this episode is "All Dogs Go To Heaven," which I'm pretty sure is one of the reasons so many people are dog people. “All dogs go to heaven because, unlike people, dogs are naturally good and loyal and kind.” Ain't that the truth?
So take a couple tips from these movies after you listen to the episode: bust out your epi-pen (because you never know when you'll need it) and never get drunk with a dog named Carface.
Two things that you should know about Bri and Erica: 1) They're emotional. 2) They love movies. OBVIOUSLY their first movie season had to be about the movies that made all of us feel ALL THE FEELINGS; the ones that made us cry and taught us life lessons. In this episode we discuss two 80s classics, Never Ending Story and Land Before Time. As kids these movies were definitive to us. Listen to hear why. CW/TW at the end for discussion of domestic abuse and murder.
AND NOW WE'VE COME TO THE EEEEEEEND OOOOOF THE ROOOOOAD. Still I can't let go...Sorry. Wrong topic, wrong genre, wrong generation. We're wrapping up this season on Boy Bands by discussing Jonas Brothers, One Direction, and BTS with one of Gen Z's best, Rachel Phillips. Rachel has been dubbed our Resident Young Person and Gen Z Correspondent. We knew we couldn't NOT talk about these guys while discussing boy bands, but to be honest Bri and Erica had incredibly limited knowledge due to being totally uncool. We also have some great conversation regarding the differences and similarities between our generations. One thing never seems to change: we love a guy who can sing. We hope you have enjoyed this season as much as we have. We'll be back soon!
PART 2 of coverage on the Backstreet Boys. TELL ME WHY you love them so much. Because whatever the reason is, same. They've been together for almost 30 years. I'm so sorry to break that news to you. In all honesty, they are the most successful boy band of all time. In this episode we cover their story as a group and the cultural impact they've had. Stay tuned at the end for a Finish The Lyric game and be sure to tell us how many you got right. Also we hope you are kinda cool with us singing a lot in this episode. We apologize in advance and should leave the singing to them.
OH MY GOD! WE'RE BACK AGAIN! Are we original? Maybe. Are we the only ones? Definitely not. I'm not even going to say the last one, but you know what it is. Have you guessed who we're talking about this week? It's (probably) America's favorite boy band, BACKSTREET BOYS! This is part one because just like NSYNC, there's A LOT to talk about with them. In this episode, we cover their individual backgrounds and what they do when they're not being a Backstreet Boy. We all feel like we grew up with them, so remember to tell us why you love them and for whom you fan-girled the hardest. Hope you enjoy! We'll be back next week to dive more in depth to their career as a whole. Also, just a heads up, CW/TW: we discuss alcohol/substance abuse in this episode.
Welcome to Part 2 on *NSYNC. We are joined by a wonderful guest host this week, Charlotte Byrd. If you like theorizing what Enneagram types the *NSYNC members are while learning a ton of trivia that will blow your friends away, this episode is for you! We get into talking about each member's background and what they've been up to since *NSYNC went on hiatus 20 years ago. (Sorry. I'm still crying.) Listen in and learn how chaotic and fun it can be when you have a fire and an air sign trying to stay on topic. I guarantee it's entertaining. Remember to listen to the end so you can follow Charlotte on all her social media.
