Team of the Tournament (20:09)
As the great Mad Titan once said “I am Inevitable”
And that is India at the moment as they were ruthless, dominant, excellent on their way to destroying England by 68 runs in the 2nd Semi Final today.
England had no answer to the almost perfect India today as they booked themselves a place in another ICC final.
My name is Munter and this is the Maximum Cricket Podcast, powered by Dominos.
On todays show we discuss the reasons India were too strong for England today
Was the deck stacked in favor of India or were they just a superior side?
We look back at the last 4 times India have reached an ICC final and rank them from least to worst in terms of choking.
We review Englands World Cup campaign while also predicting The Final which India will be heavy favourites yet again for.
The thing about India being Thanos and being Inevitable is…
Thanos didn't win in the end....

2007 - South Africa knocked out
2009 - South Africa knocked out
2014 - South Africa knocked out

But now…
2024 South Africa have demolished Afghanistan by 9 wickets after bowling them out for 56.
Congratulations to South Africa

Imagine a team defending 115 in a T20 match, captivating the Cricket World. The Super 8s came to an end today in one of the greatest Climaxes in Cricket World Cup History. Australia, after being tipped up by Afghanistan and suffocated by India. Required Bangladesh of all teams to beat Afghanistan. Afghanistan needed to win to qualify and what made this even more interesting, if Bangladesh won by enough they would qualify ahead of Australia and Afghanistan. It had the recipe for chaos and in the end the game was cooked to perfection.

SEMI FINAL PREVIEW (20:33)
Wowee Afghanistan has made the Super 8s very interesting. After their incredible performance against Australia where now they can beat Bangladesh and make the semis they have blown the Group with Australia and India wide open. So I thought let’s actually have a look at the tables of both groups and see how all 8 teams can still make the semis. (That’s right technically every side can still make it)

WHAAAT….. THE….. FUUUUCK

What is a Central Contract?
Why Kane WHY?!
He deserves to go out better than a game against PNG!!!!

Welcome back to a T20 World Cup Wrap Up Show.
India, Australia, and South Africa have cruised through the group stages unscathed.
Afghanistan and the West Indies put the NZ golden Era into retirement
England went Minnow Bashing to sneak past Scotland after they were pipped by Australia at the death.
USA got a gift from the weather gods to put Pakistan out of their misery and today Bangladesh took care of Nepal to book the last place in the Super 8s…

- Who comes out of the Super 8 Stage?
18 Months Ago, India, England, NZ and Pakistan were rightful semi finalists to the last T20 World Cup in Australia.
Fast forward to today and only India has qualified for the Super 8s, NZ has been knocked out by a team that didn’t even qualify for the last 2 World Cups in the West Indies (more on that later don’t you worry).
And England and Pakistan are on the brink, relying on USA and Scotland to do them a favor. It’s a changing of the guard for everyone except India, who just keep doing what they do… winning, will they win the big one?

Death… taxes…. And Pakistan losing from a seemingly unloseable position
Against USA, they were defending 12 off 3 balls…. They lost
Today against India, they were 80/3 off 14 Overs chasing 120…. They only required 40 off 36 Balls
That’s a win probability of 93%…. And they lost…. Again
The Difference?
Jasprit Bumrah bowled that 15th over and changed the game like he so often does
3 runs conceded
The Wicket of Rizwan
Not only that but
In his first spell he picks up Babar
In his last over Pakistan needed 21 off 12
Pakistan had a win probability of 64% (a touch generous but that’s neither here nor there
3 runs conceded and a wicket
Now Pakistan need 18 off 6
Game Over
He is the “Break in case of Emergency” player. You can use him at the start, through the middle and the death, it does not matter. 3 for 14 off his 4. What a player
Pakistan had the game under control when India were bowled out for 119.
The 4 pronged Seam attack of Amir, Shaheen, Naseem and Rauf took 9 for 94 off 15 overs
I did say at the halfway point that 120 would be the highest chase at this ground…(which says more about the ground than anything)
But with Pakistans history and Indias attack you knew they would make it hard on Pakistan.
They managed to get to 72/2 and 80/3 and really should have won from there. But again…. Jasprit Bumrah was the difference….

This is your T20 World Cup Wrap up Show by everybody’s 8th favourite podcast…but you could be forgiven into thinking it’s the World Test Championship going on with some of these run rates.
Only a few months ago we had people complaining that the game was favoring the batters in the IPL, with teams pushing 300 in an innings… and a few months later in New York we haven’t passed 300 in 4 innings of a T20 World Cup….
Welcome back to “The GOOD THE BAD AND THE LAND OF FREE” where we bring you up to date on the T20 World Cup with some of the good story’s… and some of the bad story’s… (no prizes for guessing what the bad story will be) and also a Free Segment where if you let us…. We will take you on a bit of ride.

USA ended up running out comfortable winners against their oldest rivals in sports Canada… did you hear it’s the oldest rivalry in sports because it was mentioned once or twice!
The West Indies almost slipped up on the banana skin that was PNG, normally a minnow upset is what we want but the Windies losing early would have been disastrous for the tournament annnnd

but not on their cricketing ability cause that’s boring. Let’s be honest it’s going to be the big 3 yet again, Australia, India and England in some order are your contenders and everyone else is playing catch up.
But the kits?! Well that’s an even playing field!
So I’ve split up the 20 teams into 4 tiers, the tailenders, which are nothing short of dreadful. the lower order, which are kits that aren’t great but have some redeemable features. the middle order, which are mostly top kits but are just missing that special something. and the top order which is the cream of the crop.

Today’s episode is one of the greatest finishes to any cricket match, let alone a t20 match. Very rarely can you describe a game of cricket with just one sentence, the 2019 World Cup is “the barest of margins” is one other I can think of.
This weeks episode is simply “Remember the Name”*
That’s right it’s the 2016 World Cup Final between England and West Indies where DJ Bravos song “Champion” got some use as the West Indies became the First Nation to win a t20 World Cup twice beating England in crazy circumstances where Karlos Braitwaite hit Ben Stokes for 4 x 6s in a row in the final over to cap off a memorable game.
Today is the 5th and final installment of “The 5 most impactful games of T20 International Cricket”.
In a bid to gain some momentum and fizz for the t20 World Cup that starts in June, we have re watched and reviewed the following classic matches:
The 2nd T20 between Australia and NZ in 2010 where Brendon McCullum made the scoop famous
The World Cup group stage game between India and Pakistan in front of 90,000 fans at the MCG in 2022
The first World Cup final between India and Pakistan in 2007 where the IPL was unofficially launched
The very first t20 international between Australia and NZ in 2005 which launched the platform for the what the game looks like today.
If they sound like something you might enjoy, please do go back and watch those episodes, chuck it a like and subscribe and join the ride we are trying to take you on down nostalgia lane…
Today is the 4th installment of the series about T20 Cricket and the most memorable and impactful games in its short history.
If you are just joining us for the first time, please check out the previous 3 episodes.
- 2010 2nd T20 Australia vs NZ (McCullum scoop shot magic)
- 2022 World Cup Group Stage between Pakistan and India at the MCG (Kohli - Classic in front of 90,000)
- 2007 World Cup Final between India and Pakistan. (The day the IPL was actually born)
And tonight we wind back the clock to 2005. It’s retro kits, retro facial hair and to be honest an absolute circus between NZ and Australia for the first t20 International.
But it set the stage for the global juggernaut t20 is today.

Again please do send in some of your favorites, we will release an episode once a week right up until the World Cup starts.
India vs Pakistan in 2022 at the MCG was one of the greatest spectacles in the history of our game. And then to have an incredible game on top of that was the cherry on top.

Shan Masood made 52* off 42
Ifttikar Ahmed 51 off 34
Hardik 3-30 off 4

World Class fast bowling from both sides. And maybe the greatest white ball player of time, playing one of the best innings of all time. This match had everything didn’t it?
