If Palm Springs is the great desert playground, then Tiki Caliente is the merry-go-round at its core, spinning drinks, tunes, and tropical wares into one intoxicating, technicolor weekend of music, tiki, exotica, and parties. Shrunken heads in Vegas! This week at the Freaks Tiki Bar, our special guest is Adrian Eustaquio, the creator and host of the "Inside the Desert Oasis Room" podcast and the video series "Polynesian Pop." He recently received his own Shrunken Head at The Golden Tiki in Las Vegas, an honor bestowed on those who've made a significant impact on tiki culture. His shrunken head joins other Tiki luminaries, including Sven Kirsten, Don the Beachcomber, and Trader Vic.

Hurricane Ian hit Florida Sept. 28, 2022, followed a couple weeks later by Tropical Storm Nicole, which turned into a Cat. 1 hurricane, on November 12. The TIKI FREAKS crew flew into Florida that week from across the country to attend different weddings--the timing couldn't have been worse! Our luggage was lost, our flights diverted and canceled, the power was out, and our hotels screwed...So, naturally, what did we do ? Mixed tiki drinks, of course!
