This week on Himalayan Hipsters we are talking about our current Social Expectation and Standards. We address some of the societal norms and standards in our community and its mental and psychological impacts on our generation and our future generations. As we talk about women's issues, men's issues, gender norms, we are also asking our viewers and listeners to share how to break this cycle and stop passing these generational traumas to our next generation.  We are just scratching the surface of these issues; in the later episodes we will dive deeper into these topics. Inspire us by subscribing to our Podcast (Apple, Amazon Music, Spotify, iheartradio...), YouTube channel and support us by following on Himalayan Hipsters- social media platforms. Last episode in Himalayan Hipsters, we discussed WHY Self-care? This week we want to emphasize on our fundamental right as human beings which is the “Power of Choice”.  Caroline Myss explains “there is no such thing as a small choice; You are always making choices, even in your sleep; Even your choices continue to make choices long after you’ve forgotten them; One clear choice, no matter how insignificant you might think it is, can redirect the course of your life in the blink of an eye. All of us were born knowing deep in our inner self that every choice we make holds the potential to change our life, so we often hesitate to make choices or we let others make our decisions for us, only to end up angry at ourselves or at others for how our life turned out. In truth, the spiritual journey is the same for all of us: We must each take charge of own choices, as we are each held accountable for what we create. That truth is why we fear the power of our choices and why we rarely forgive ourselves for abdicating our power of choice to another person. And of course we resent having choice taken from us, as we know it our soul that the power to choose how we dance with creation is a sacred contract. “Inspire us by subscribing to our Podcast ( Apple, Amazon Music,  Spotify,  iheartradio..), YouTube channel and support us by following on  Himalayan Hipsters- social media platforms. After our conversation with our guest speaker last week who is a practicing Therapist- Emily Davies on EP-04 "How to have Healthy Conversation?" She emphasized on how Self-Care can help you manage stress, lower your risk of illness, and increase your energy. Even small acts of self-care in your daily life can have a big impact. The World Health Organization for example has produced three much-cited definitions (in 1983, 1998 and 2009). The WHO 1998 definition is: "Self-Care is what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health, and to prevent and deal with illness. It is a broad concept encompassing hygiene (general and personal), nutrition (type and quality of food eaten), lifestyle (sporting activities, leisure etc.), environmental factors (living conditions, social habits, etc.) socio-economic factors (income level, cultural beliefs, etc.) and self-medication." In this episode we are focusing on "What is Self-Care?"  What does Self-Care mean to us? What were our trial and errors? What is our current Self-Care routine? Our goal for this episode is to assess which areas of your life need some more attention and self-care. And reassess your life often. As your situation changes, your self-care needs are likely to shift too. Finding time to take care of your mind and body can feel impossible. By challenging your assumptions about self-care, you can find an approach that works for you.Inspire us by subscribing to our Podcast (Apple, Amazon Music, Spotify, iheartradio...), YouTube channel and support us by following on Himalayan Hipsters- social media platforms. In this episode we have our first and  a very Special guest, Emily Davies.  For the past eight years, she has worked as an outpatient mental health therapist collaborating with clients to work towards creating a more fulfilling and meaningful life. She takes a client-centered and strengths-based approach to her practice, incorporating cognitive behavioral principles. These strategies target symptoms with skills-based interventions while addressing underlying dynamics through insight-oriented work to promote lasting change and growth. She has inpatient, outpatient, and residential experience. Her specialties include adolescents, adults, couples, and families dealing with issues pertaining to mood, anxiety, thoughts, and trauma as well as the exploration of identity, self-esteem, and relationship issues. Our goal for this episode is to normalize therapy and mental health.  Emily is a practicing therapist who gives us an insight on how to have  healthy conversations. Therapy can facilitate the improvement of interpersonal and intergroup skills by helping individuals to improve the quality, nature, and frequency of their communications. We are working towards creating a space to build a sense of community to feel safe enough to speak their minds. Inspire us by subscribing to our Podcast ( Apple, Amazon Music,  Spotify,  iheartradio..), YouTube channel and support us by following on  Himalayan Hipsters- social media platforms.
