Today co-host Kim and I discuss about my first time going to Japan and some of the unforgettable memories I had at that time; including a curry eating contest the day before leaving which lead to an "explosive" plane ride home! We discuss vending machines in Japan vs America and just how advanced Japan is in comparison to our technology here in America. LOL Bathing nude in close proximity with people you don't know!! We also discuss differences in humor between America and Japan... some jokes just are not translatable. Finally we wrap things up with some crunchy and slightly stinky, but Yummy Japanese senbei rice cracks with fermented soybean Natto inside!!! Something very disturbing happened in Japan recently. Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was assassinated in broad daylight. Abe loved Japan and America and he was vocal about it, so what happened to him in a country with nearly zero gun crimes really raises a lot of questions; including what his security detail was doing, or better stated, Not doing before and after this horrible event occurred. Next we discuss a Japanese phrase I have really embraced over the years.. HIBI-ZENSHIN. This short and simple phrase packs a lot of punch and is the source of motivation for me, and perhaps the people of Japan too after an incident such as the murder of Prime Minister Abe. You too can embrace the deep meaning of this simple phrase and possibly change your life for the better too! Finally I share with Kim a new Japanese snack we found.. It is crunchy (lots of ASMR!!), salty, spicy with seaweed and a taste of plum at the end!! Quite a snack; Yummy and great to have Kim back in the studio again!! Today we have an open and honest discussion of race; black and white and how the discussion of race is with relation to Japan. Is Japan a racist country? Why was there support for BLM in Japan during the riots and demonstrations here in the US? and why was my crotch grabbed in Japan multiple times???? I introduce you to Kyle; aka Kyou from Brooklyn Tokyo on Youtube. He is 26 years old, black and someone who shares a similar passion for Japan as I do. While we are very different in age and backgrounds, Kyle and I share quite a bit of similarities in thought and interests. We just met, yet we open up and cover a variety of current topics with regards to race relations in Japan and America. Finally I share with Kyle some delicious Japanese cream-filled "Melon" bread from Mai's Cafe in Mitsuwa Plano. Kyle takes over the ASMR in Kim's absence! The Japanese love seeing us Americans enjoy classic JDM cars hat have been imported here under the 25 year rule. But there is a HUGE Problem in Japan.. Stolen Cars!! Cars are being stolen all over Japan and unfortunately some of those cars are winding up here to many unsuspecting but perhaps worse with some people who actually know what's really going on! What would you do if you got a knock at the door saying your prized possession was stolen??? Next Kim and keep hitting coming back to the fact of how strange it is that many things in life seem to happen for a reason! THat reason is not always clear until later on though... Finally we sample some delicious Japanese "Melon" bread from Mai's Cafe in Mitsuwa Plano. It doesnt taste like melon so why is it called that?? stay tuned to find out!! My son "The Kid" graduated from college the other day and I travelled to Atlanta for the ceremony. There was a speaker at the ceremony named Tyler Perry; and yes believe it or not I had never heard of him before. But listen to the story of how someone I ever knew before and the people Tyler never knew before have become such big influences in both of our lives! We then discuss meeting Roxanne out of no where in Atlanta as we chased down the sound of her 2 cars; a Mark IV Toyota Supra and her S13 Nissan Silvia too! Finally, lactose intolerant Kim is forced to eat a Japanese Choco Pie and wash it all down with a Japanese Craft Cola!! Yummy, yummy!! good thing the bathroom is inside the studio!! Mike Ritland is a former Navy Seal and one bad ass mother. He runs the very successful Mike Drop Podcast and wins me today to discuss a recent "incident" that occurred when Daniel Mac asked him "What do you do for a living?" Mike got a lot of hate for his answer to that question which leads us to a deeper discussion of how quickly we are to be offended by nothing and how fast we are judge others on a few second video clip nowadays. Mike has another podcast called Uninfluenced which is co-hosted with Matt Holden who joins us as well. I owe both of these guys a lot of thanks for welcoming me to Texas and helping me get this podcast up and running. These 2 guys are into cars and have love for America too but they are both totally open minded enough for me to introduce them to the stinkiest Japanese snacks of all which we enjoy together and leave a stench in their studio that I hope goes away!! In today's episode our podcast goes international!! We head to the Philippines to interview a very good friend of mine and international car enthusiast Angie Mead King. I met Angie on the Goldrush rally several years ago. Angie King (formally Ian King) is a transgender car lover!! She loves supercars, muscle cars and JDM too!! She owns car restoration shops in the Philippines and is a philanthropist, who is married to an international Supermodel and TV personality named Joey Mead King. Their story and their relationship together, particularly surrounding the behind the scenes details of some of the cars they currently own is incredible; particularly the story surrounding the Eleanor Mustang that saved their relationship! Not many people, besides myself could tell you this incredible story. Angie and Joey love America and Japan culture and today's episode will leave you inspired and energized too; especially as we end the talk today with me gobbling down some Japanese fermented soybeans called Nitto for breakfast!!
