Description

We're taking it allll the way back to the very first Discovery special. A rewatch for me (Whitney) and a side-eyed first watch for me (Tim). In light of some...uh...legal happenings, we look back from the beginnings of this saga to catch the cringe, the red flags, and the tater tot casserole.

We watch the brood run amok in a Kiddie Casino. The tokens were flowing, the cheap pizza was getting devoured, and we see the Dancing King use hard-earned tickets to buy something for Hannie. Super Sweet gesture. We watch 2 of the boys, and Grandma get equipped with new bikes. In our Dig, we take a look at a book written about the early days of Billy G's cult. It's written by a pastor and it's, surprisingly, not a fluff piece. There's a chapter that is almost a Billy G Burn Book. Good on ya, Wilfred Bockelman. Enjoy what you hear? Welcome to the triumphant return of Dr. Diligence D.D.S! Pest and Joe can't seem to handle the one thing asked of them, before THEIR medical procedure. We then watch, yet again, as Lego tries to bend the rules. He is swiftly shutdown by our new favorite side character of the series. It is so satisfying to watch someone else who will not give in to Lego's BS.In our Dig, we resume the exploration of this family's parentification, and the effects from it. Whitney thought this Dig was going to be only one froggin' part but it was a juicy topic. ***Public Service Announcement***PBS has such an important role in providing quality, thoughtful programming for everyone. The first half of the recap felt like a clip show for some reason. It was like the editors had some B Roll laying around and figured they would pad out the run time. Put on your gloves and masks because 8 of the brood have strep throat. We wouldn't touch anything in that house, ew. In our Dig, Whit lays out the maze-like SOP in order to make an appeal to your authority. As is the case with most restrictive social structures, they're just trying to get you to stay quiet. Join us as we navigate the 45-step questionnaire you'll need to think about if you wanna state your case. It's religious-coded bureaucracy. The King of Beats is back, baby! We watch Lego and Cannon doing a speaking event in DC which sets the stage for them to meet with Kirk Cameron again. The Dug-girls get to take the rest of the fam to Tulsa with no parental supervision; which to be honest, is pretty par for the course. In our Dig, we explore a more recent King of Beats event, when he and his son pissed a whole bunch of fellow Christians off by daring to explore their opinions on the eternal punishment that sinners will receive. Just Dig. Da-Da-Doo-Doot! Due to our first episode back being a double length David Waller love-fest, we decided to do a just-dig episode. We get into the nitty gritty of why it felt like every Duggar was fawning over ole Pecan Waller. We're back and Digging into 2026! We are starting off the year with a double length episode, "Duggars Down the Aisle." Those clever folks at TLC got us though, it's the wedding of Priscilla and David Waller. It's so unfortunate that the first episode of the year has so much Pest in it. He turns the smug up to 11. Since he is married already, he feels as though he has some sort of wisdom/judgement to impart. This entire episode felt like a lovefest for David Waller, but stay tuned, next week we will shed light on why. We do get a lot of IBLP "humor" which usually means, second hand embarrassment as well. In this week's double length episode, we get to see the fam voting on what names they think the new baby should have. Jessa picked a name with a little spice,Jim Bob thinks they need another Jim Bob, and Jana is trying to get her Arby's product placement in there. Once they go to their ultrasound, sadly, the tech cannot find a heartbeat. Back when the show was airing, this was the last episode before a 5 month hiatus. We are taking this as a chance to start our holiday break. Catch us on buymeacoffee.com/diggingupthedug and instagram through the end of the year. We will be posting Pickle Episodes and holiday content on both. The Boys wildin' out today! We see them go to Fort Rock for a Father Son campout. We watch them play laser tag out in the woods, and Lego shows his absolute disregard for his son in the heat of "battle". We get a completely obvious product placement at a fast food establishment, shout out to their next level mozzarella sticks, though. We end with Cannon, keeping soooooo sweet. Inspired by Thanksgiving Day, in our dig we explore the Character booklet on the character quality of "gratefulness". The key to being grateful is to never give yourself credit for anything. Episode 156 - For a Weason

Episode 156 - For a Weason

2025-11-2002:12:04

This week's episode was an exploration of Duggar Time. We watch the family show up late to the big fish fry in Little Rock. Don't worry though, Lego Hair has a big secret (yet ineffective) plan. In our Dig, we explore what the family was up to while these episodes were airing. They were on the campaign trail with Rick Santorum. We talk of using a Cricut machine to deck the bus in vinyl campaign signage, impromptu concerts in Fuddruckers, and a very interesting campaign commercial. It's a good thing those kids don't have to do real school. Like what you hear? Would you like to directly support a snarking couple (and their cat) from Glendale, AZ? I'm so jealous, because in this week's episode the Duggars get to go somewhere I always dreamed of going: Space Camp! There weren't any space skirts so the older Duggirls had to stay in their regular uniform. The kids got decked out in a jumpsuit, did the flight simulator, and the mission control simulator. Ugh, that was my dream as a child. In this week's Dig, Whitney takes us through Pest's response...to the government's response to his 2255 filing. He definitely tried to spice things up with many creative writing touches. Old Billy G would be proud at the amount of self-aggrandizing and metaphors. Like what you hear? The crew gets a crash course in pretzel-ing at Auntie Anne's. Then they compete to collect the most donations for Alex's Lemonade Stand. We watch as our girl, is a no-nonsense cashier. In our Dig, we explore the IBLP Basic Care Bulletin on cancer. It follows suit with the our Medical literature in having some absolutely wild takes on cancer, who gets it, and the shitty message it sends to someone diagnosed with it. Remember, the problem is you. Like what you hear? Would you like to support a snarking couple from Glendale, AZ? This episode starts with the brood doing bible study in Cannon and Lego Hair's room. The cleanliness of the carpet is suspect and we didn't need to see Lego's bare feet to start. We are in the thick of Speaking Engagement Season. We also catch a glimpse of Famy fishing for a potential singing career. In our Dig, we get into Brian Recker's book, "Hell Bent: How the Fear of Hell Holds Christians Back from a Spirituality of Love". It was refreshing for us to explore literature that was well written and thought provoking after some of the drivel we normally read. Like what you hear? Cannon is on the road again! Luckily for the children, Lego is not in charge. They'll have food cooked and their hair will be in decent ponytails this time. Cannon gets to speak to a group of Church moms and teaches them to *checks notes* love their kids and love their husbands. Great talk, Cannon. Cracker Justin gets to go to the pawn shop for his birthday and his Father puts him in the awkward position of having to haggle for his own gift. In our Dig, Whitney explores Allie Beth Stuckey's first book, "You're Not Enough (and that's okay)" If you couldn't predict it, there's so much we disagree with in this book. (book=excuse for her to project her self loathing and then tell you she's doing it better than you). Like what you hear? Would you like to support a snarking couple from Glendale, AZ? We get a check-in from the Pest Nest. We see how an infant Michael is so much like his father, according to Anna. Sits around, drools, sleeps a good amount. Like Smuggar Duggar like son. We get an update on the Taco Lot and watch Anna getting a view of her potential future by taking care of a gaggle of children by herself. In our Dig, we review the US justice system's response to Pest's 2255 Motion. Last week we got to watch one Duggar male get exposed on how useless he can be. This week we got to hear the Country's Legal System, explain thoroughly and repeatedly how another Duggar's arguments are not only untimely, but also lacking any semblance of merit. We are so back, baby! New season, new bingo board. The first episode of Season 6 is a LOT to chew on... to say the least. We are at critical levels of women-can't-stand-him and buffoonery. The OG Snark was impeccable as they really highlighted how utterly inept and worthless Lego Hair is. Tune in, and be exasperated with us. Have you enjoyed what you've heard for 5 seasons? Hey Diggers, we've pulled a Pickle out of the archive jar to tide you over before the start of season 6. Enjoy this peek into some of the bonus content available over on www.buymeacoffee.com/diggingupthedugJoin us as we take a short tour through some of the "interesting" tales of inspiration that Whitney has found in her journey through IBLP Literature. Watch Pizza Hut's legal team tremble in fear as an IBLP family points out how they are hurting their guests. Listen for some insight into how you can solve behavioral/health problems with your children by destroying some of their belongings. And we take a look at a very heroic man and the sacrifices he makes...for absolutely unselfish reasons. Season 5 is in the books! This has been a season of some very snarkworthy, yet iconic moments. A new addition to the normal "State of the Pod" is Season Superlatives. We do our seasonal Bingo Square Evaluation, and recap of some of our favorite Digs. Thank you so much for your contributions to our Q&A segment. We got so many great questions that we couldn't answer them all. We appreciate everyone that submitted a question. Thank you for being along for the ride here in Season 5 and we look forward to the next. Since the season is over, we are going to take a little time off. During our off-season we are going to try and rest, while also gameplanning what's coming next. If you haven't yet, join us over on www.buymeacoffee.com/diggingupthedug . Episode 147 - I'm Daddy!

2025-09-0401:49:21

We've reached the final leg of our big globetrotting adventure. The fam is going to Israel. I think Lego Hair assumed that there was going to be a heavenly choir lightly singing the whole time. Rays of sunlight shooting out from behind big, puffy white clouds, and the Jordan River being full of crystal clear water. We watched the fam get to ride camels while Lego Hair was uncomfortable. A couple of the girls getting chatted up at the Dead Sea. Jim Bob tries to haggle at the Old City Market while not remotely understanding the exchange rate. Like what you hear? Oi! The Duggars made it to London! The exchange rate for thumbs-ups must be in their favor because we are thumbs-up heavy. We see the show's (very brave) fixer, let Lego Hair and Cannon drive her vehicle. The kids enjoy some tea time and Lego Hair mortifies at least two members of his family. They also take a ride in the London Eye and round out their time in England with a trip to Stonehenge. In our not-so-mini Dig, Whitney watches an entire swoon session for Baby Cannon herself. A whole room full of people fawning over the fact that she gave birth to the children who are parenting her other children. Mother of the Year, folks! No...really.Like what you hear? Episode 145 - Ahoy, Mate!

2025-08-2102:22:40

The Brood is going international! We've reached the travel specials and the first destination is Scotland and Ireland. This episode is complete with a tin whistle overhaul of the theme song. If you guessed that you would get Duggar Time and a lot of "what do you mean we?", you'd be correct. Lego Hair has the buffoonery dialed up since they're in another country, complete with a very awkward, ineffective pitch for Christianity. They jump on a ferry and head over to Ireland to spend time at a working farm. Beautiful, green countryside is the stage for the kids to try and herd sheep (Patches the Dog is much more adept at it). Whitney takes us back in time and we read through some of the comments on the family's websites from way back in the 2010's. It's a fascinating, sometimes horrifying look back at the kind of messages they would get from the general public. Like what you hear? I'm sure a lot of people are telling you this, but in the UK in manual transmission vehicles, the gas, brake and clutch are in the same order as they are here. I drove a stick shift in Ireland and I was surprised how easy it was to get the feel for it. The hard part was the tiny narrow streets.

The way you get ejected from a vehicle in a crash is by not wearing a seat belt. Such an incredibly stupid thing to do
