"YoYo Dissco" features all the latest Funky House, Disco House, and House Music songs that have been buzzing in our ears for the past couple of months. If you're a fan of this series (and it seems a lot of you are, judging by the numbers over the past year), everything will sound familiar with a fresh sense of newness throughout the mix. This set kicks off with some Gospel Disco by the always fabulous Barbara Tucker, who we haven't heard from in a while and delivers a hopeful track for these trying times. From there, you'll journey through the dance floor with an endless array of roof-raisers, funky throwbacks, and mashups of perennial favorites, creating entirely new songs. Navigating Through Time: A Reflection on Party Favorz's Journey and Musical Milestones Party Favorz is now in its 17th year, and it's remarkable to think we've been around for four presidencies, witnessing massive changes in technology and entertainment consumption. We were leading the charge in this arena before podcasts became ubiquitous, and while many have fallen by the wayside, we're still here delivering the dancefloor directly to you. Towards the end of this mix, you'll notice a song called "The Cure & The Cause" by Fish Go Deep and Tracey K. Idris Elba took the song in a very 90s straight House Music direction. At the time of its original release, it was all about the DJ Meme remix, which added live strings in the vein of the Solsoul Records era. It was a massive hit back in 2007, the same year Party Favorz was born on the internet. It's interesting to note that it was also released during a presidential year, similar to the current time. While nothing will ever top the DJ Meme remix, this new rendition brought back a lot of fond memories from our early days. You can find the DJ Meme remix on our Funky House Edition 2007 v6 and on Volume 1 of our DJ Meme tribute mix. Technical Updates and Enhancements: Improving Your Listening Experience I've been struggling to get the categories to work on the streaming feeds for several days, but then it came to me in a dream last night. That's been the delay in getting the new design out, and I haven't fully tested it yet, but hopefully, it will work out. If not, I'm waiting on a quote from a developer to assist, along with fixing the link in the site's header. No need to inform me; I'm aware of it and will get it fixed as soon as possible. "Don't Walk, Dance!" is one of those sets that's created in one sitting which packs an extraordinary punch and delivers pure magic right to your ears. We start with a bang, featuring the iconic 90s House music sensation, Adeva. Collaborating with Soul Seekerz, bringing us "Musical Freedom", a track that echoes persistence and hope, while doing the Candi Staton original proud. It's a powerful opener that sets the tone for what's to come. A Funky House Journey Through Musical Masterpieces Transitioning smoothly, we dive into "Your Heaven" by Mother of Pearl featuring Pearl Mae, a track that epitomizes the uplifting spirit of Funky House. This is quickly followed by Mike Newman's "Things I Do", which intriguingly blends a Robin S-like sound with lyrics from the Commodores' 1977 hit "Easy", creating an uplifting vibe. In a seamless transition, we experience Word of Mouth UK's creative mashup of Aretha Franklin's "A Deeper Love (Pride)" with Paul Johnson's "Get Get Down". This fusion not only honors the classics but also reinvigorates them for today's dance floors. Iconic Samples and Versatility in Funky House Illyus and Barrientos, known for their versatility, team up with Phebe Edwards on "Wait", a track that's pure gold. Mark Knight, another master at his craft, takes us into the realm of big room House with "The Greatest Thing Alive", a collaboration with Green Velvet and James Hurr. This deep House track is sure to have dance floors moving in unison. No Party Favorz mix is complete without a nod to the legendary Loleatta Holloway. DJ Oji's "The Good Ol Dayz" brilliantly incorporates Holloway's "Love Sensation", showcasing her unforgettable voice in a new light. A Disco-Infused Funky House Extravaganza The set also features an array of Disco House tracks. We revisit classics like "Saturday Night" by Duwayne Motley, "Move On Up" by Block & Crown, and a fresh take on Chic's "Want Your Love" by Gary Tuohy, which keeps Nile Rogers' iconic guitar work intact. Our journey concludes with Jason Walker, a talent whose voice and style remind us of Simply Red's Mick Hucknall. His track "Joy", produced by Georgie Porgie, is the perfect finale to our three-hour musical odyssey. Sure, we've sprinkled in a few gems from the late 70s, but the spotlight is mainly on the 80s. Let's jump into it. Opening with a Bang: "Driver's Seat" Kicking off the set is "Driver's Seat," a 1979 classic from Sniff 'n' the Tears. Block & Crown bring it to 2021 with their House remix. It's a tune that has graced numerous commercials and TV shows. Although it peaked at only #15 on the U.S. charts, many of this remember this earworm fondly. Unexpected Remixes: "Sultans of Swing" One delightful surprise here is Block & Crown's fresh take on Dire Straits' 1979 mega-hit "Sultans of Swing." They titled their version "Swingin Sultan," and it's a beauty. This remix stays loyal to the original while adding a modern twist, making it a perfect throwback. Rock Classics Reimagined Speaking of rock, we've got more. The Knack's 1979 hit "My Sharona" gets a Funky House twist, thanks to Grooveband and Ghostmasters. Block & Crown also rework Ram Jam's rock staple "Black Betty," ensuring that these remixed songs from the 80s and late 70s keep the dance floor buzzing. Disco Gurls on Tina Turner's "The Best" Disco Gurls dazzle us with their modernization of Tina Turner's anthem "The Best." Titled "U're Simply The Best," it preserves the original's spirit while injecting it with a new groove. If only this had been available for our Tina Tribute set. A Smorgasbord of Modern Takes on 80s Classics For those craving more, we've got a plethora of modern remixes your 80s-loving heart will adore. From "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash to "Hungry Eyes" by Eric Carmen, we've covered it all. Others like "One Night in Bangkok" by Murray Head and "Your Love" by The Outfield get their much-deserved spotlight. Authenticity Matters Although about half of these tracks feature the original vocals, the rest utilize talented soundalike artists. But don't let that sway you! These remixed songs from the 80s and a few from the late 70s offer a fresh, nostalgic journey worth taking. A couple of mashups even make an appearance, adding extra flavor. What's Next? Whether you grew up in this era or are a fan looking to discover these classics, this throwback set is a treasure. Stay tuned for our Fall Edition 2023, which will be dropping soon, along with new episodes of Peak Hour and Club Fusion. Until the next time...ENJOY! This isn't your usual fare. We're talking about songs that evoke nostalgia, remixed by familiar names like Block & Crown and GhostMasters. Interestingly, these creators are mixing it up—literally. They're giving a fresh beat to songs that you probably never thought would belong in the Dance, Disco, or House categories. In fact, our buddy DJ Freddy Greene started paving this route a while back. Remember his Disco and '80s Dance edits? He was all about those DJ-friendly versions. However, he also began adding beats to pop songs, and I must admit, it left me a bit puzzled. Hits and Misses: A Mixed Bag of Remixes Now that others are jumping on this trend, the results are, let's say, a mixed bag. Take Heart's iconic Rock ballad "Alone." Now picture it with a House beat. Sounds odd? That's because it is, and even we're curious to see how you'll react to these new mixes. You'll notice the first volume spreads its influences across several decades but leans heavily towards the '80s. Volume 2? It's almost exclusively an '80s fiesta, with a sprinkling of late-'70s tracks to keep you guessing. There are definitely some throwback songs that will not only surprise you but knock you off your feet. Keeping Up With the Prolific Output of Dance Edits Just try to keep pace; these artists are pushing out songs faster than you can say "remix." All the selections in these volumes have been amassed since our Summer Throwback in June. There's enough material for a third volume, but we're saving those gems for a spring release If these revamped classics tickle your fancy, head over to Beatport and look under their Funky House category. You'll find a plethora of these tracks, and other DJs entering this realm. Spotify and Apple Music are also good platforms to follow these artists. Trust us, the tracks we're showcasing barely scratch the surface of what these DJs offer. Here are their Spotify and Apple Music pages: Block & Crown:  Spotify   Apple Music GhostMasters:  Spotify   Apple Music Measuring Success of this Throwback and What Lies Ahead We'll be keeping a close eye on the success of these latest Throwback offerings. Their performance will shape the future of further releases in this niche. Our first two original volumes were big hits, and we're hopeful these will follow suit. But only time will tell. And don't forget, Party Favorz thrives on your support. If you're digging what we're putting together, think about making a donation today. Your contributions help us keep the dance floor alive. To kick things off, we're easing you into the groove with Birdee & Dr Packer's sultry number, "You Know I'm Ready." But wait, we're only warming up here. Ah, nostalgia, that sweet elixir! We've decided to bring back "Good Life" by Inner City—a timeless classic from 1989 that's still making waves in the House Music scene. It's almost like this golden oldie was destined to coexist with today's sonic landscape. So we took the origina, punched it up, and slid it right into the set. Isn't it fascinating how some anthems never lose their charm? They seamlessly meld into the fabric of contemporary Funky House Music. Just when you think you can catch your breath, we're turning up the heat. Cue the high-octane "Move That Body" by dance music legends Danny Tenaglia & Cevin Fisher. This thumping track signals a gear shift into the Big Room House realm. But don't get too comfy—some of these bangers wear the Tech House tag, a genre that's veering more toward the euphoric, peak-hour vibes we cherished in the '90s, yet it's unmistakably rooted in modern House Music. Speaking of which, let's talk about "Jealous" by Mochakk, a track that revives the iconic monologue from Loleatta Holloway's #1 Disco hit "Dreamin'." Holloway's legendary adlibs breathe life into this contemporary banger, making it an instant classic. Trust us, it's pure gold! And oh, have you heard "I Wanna Be Your Lover" by Mark Knight, Sgt Slick & Beverley Knight? It's an audacious take on Prince's 1980 hit, a song that they've rejuvenated while paying the ultimate homage. Beverley Knight's vocal finesse is just the icing on this groovy cake. Then we have Purple Disco Machine putting his unique spin on the 2001 Eurodance gem, "King of My Castle" by Wamdue Project. Trust him to take something already great and elevate it, wrapping it in his signature Funky House Music vibes while preserving the essence of the original. It's not just a remix; it's a transformation. But that's not all. Wedged between these standout tracks are other gems that are bound to make your Labor Day weekend an absolute sonic feast. Whether you're a Funky House Music aficionado or just dipping your toes in, this set promises something for everyone. The original release boasts spectacular remixes, so be sure to check out the exceptional Charlie Lane remix available on Spotify. We also pay tribute to the enduring Soulsearcher classic, "Feelin' Love", with Dr. Packer's updated remix. You'll also find Max Mueller's "Housy" and Peggy Gou's #1 club hit "(It Goes Like) Nanana" adding a massive punch to this set. Party Favorz is dialing back the clock and pumping up the volume with funky house music that blends the nostalgic charm of old school music from the 80s, and 90s with the rhythmic energy of the 00s. Every track in our Summer Throwback 2023 playlist is like a sunbeam - a bright reinterpretation of those beloved party classics, remixed with a contemporary twist. From full-length masterpieces to sampled layers of different eras, each song blends old school charisma with modern magic. The result? The perfect soundtrack for a pool party or BBQ bash with friends this summer. Block & Crown (Adri Block) reign supreme in the niche sphere of Funky House Music, with Ghostbusterz, Nari, and Richard Grey adding their unique spark to this vibrant genre. Our summer throwback playlist is a tribute to these maestros of funky house music. The tracks in our Summer Throwback 2023 collection aren't just memorable - they sparkle with fresh productions, capturing your heart like never before. Since last year's Summer Throwback release, I've been amassing these tunes, handpicking each one to create a soul-stirring, foot-tapping experience. After a marathon session of curating, mixing, and tweaking, the initial playlist boasted over six hours of toe-tapping tunes. They posed a unique challenge, many lacking DJ-friendly intros and outros, but we're all about facing challenges head-on here at Party Favoz. Even after trimming it down by an hour, we're left with a substantial party mix that promises endless hours of enjoyment. The past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of projets, and the upcoming weeks promise even more of the same. Nevertheless, I'm committed to providing the best of summer vibes. Keep an ear out for a new Beach House, Peak Hour (fingers crossed!), Top EDM, and our annual Summer Edition - all landing over the next month. This set is a grand collection of the hottest House Music, NuDisco, and Deep House tracks presently igniting dance floors worldwide. Consider "Feel the Groove" your early ticket to our upcoming pre-summer music extravaganza. This funky house music set starts off with a bang, featuring a fresh reinterpretation of the Soulsearcher classic "Feelin' Love" by DJ Fudge. This is quickly followed by Earth N Days' big room funky house track, "The Kinda Love". Earth N Days have been a staple in our sets since they exploded onto the scene in 2017 with "Just Be Good To Me" – a track that bagged the top spot on Beatport's year-end charts. Since then, they've been churning out tunes that any DJ, regardless of their experience level, would be proud to spin. Notable Earth N Days' contributions in our set include "In My House" and their remix of Hotswing's "Work It". We've also refreshed some all-time favorites for this set, including Eelke Kleijn and Lee Cabrera's spin on Laura Branigan's "Self Control", Buth & Nic Fanciulli's reinterpretation of Marvin Gaye's "I Want You", and the 90s House classic "Another Sleepless Night" revamped by Shawn Christopher & Mike Wilson. In an unexpected twist, Shapeshifters have even revisited their own classic, "Lolas Theme", giving it a new life through a VIP remix. Arguably, the titan of this set is "Fresh" by Crazibiza. This track ingeniously samples "Private Number" by Judy Clay & William Bell (1968), intertwined with the iconic vocals from "Somethings Got a Hold On Me" by the legendary Etta James, which was also famously sampled in Avicii's "Levels". The intertwining of these samples is not entirely new and was initially heard in "You Wish" by Nightmares On Wax, featured in our 2011 Chill Edition, "The World We Live In". But as the adage goes, a good sample is a good sample, and Crazibiza has indeed made it even better. A quick personal update: As some of you may recall, Rick and I were victims of a flooding incident last Christmas, which displaced us into temporary housing. But we're happy to report that our unit has been fully restored and we're moving back in next week. Anticipate our next Peak Hour set to drop a bit earlier than usual – on Thursday of next week. Welcome back to another energizing edition of Party Favorz's Funky House Music sets! If you're a seasoned listener, you know what you're in for—high-octane tunes that'll get your feet tapping and your heart racing. For newcomers, you're about to discover why Funky House Music is a beloved cornerstone of our extensive dance music catalog. The UK Shapeshifters are no strangers to the dance scene, consistently delivering groovy anthems that make you move. Their rendition of "Slippery People," originally by the Talking Heads and featuring Ramona Renea & Fiorious, is no exception. This makeover takes the classic and adds a hypnotic bassline that slides you effortlessly into the groove. It's not just a track; it's a transformative experience that transcends time and genre. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_u0DBRKrXyI Next up, LF SYSTEM’s "Hungry (For Love)" offers a succulent blend of funky synths and pulsating rhythms that'll leave you craving for more. There's a rawness to it, something intangibly authentic that harks back to the roots of Funky House while boldly stepping into the contemporary scene. Birdee's versatility shines in our latest Funky House set, remixing Joey Montenegro's "Do What You Feel" with a groove that effortlessly melds old-school and contemporary vibes. Not to be outdone, his original track "Gotta Keep On" takes you on a euphoric ride with its compelling rhythms, solidifying Birdee as an emerging powerhouse in the scene. Similarly, Dr Packer leaves an indelible imprint on our playlist with two standout tracks. His extended mix of Staxx's "Joy" transforms the song into a vibrant, feel-good journey, while his remix of Yolanda Wyns's "I Know You, I Live You" masterfully marries robust vocals and a captivating beat. Both artists prove that whether it's in the realm of remixing or original creation, their unique flair sets the stage for unforgettable dance experiences. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgtKSOCy9zg Tensnake's "Coma Cat," reworked by Purple Disco Machine, then takes the set to new heights. The extended re-work gives this already iconic tune an innovative touch, blending nu-disco elements and classic Funky House sounds that make for an aural treat. Finally, "Keep It Movin" by Patrick Wayne & DJ ThreeJay closes out our set with a robust blend of uplifting beats and invigorating basslines that keep the energy soaring right to the end. It’s the type of track that epitomizes what Funky House is all about: a compelling beat, memorable vocals, and the ineffable quality that makes you want to dance until dawn. These gems,

This playlist is a haven for those who appreciate sophisticated beats, as it seamlessly integrates elements of NuDisco, House, Soulful, Jackin House, and Deep House. If you've got a penchant for Funky House vibes, then this set will undoubtedly get you in the groove. First up on the list, Todd Terry's classic "Jumpin'" is taken to new heights with the Wh0 Extended Remix. The remix adds a fresh layer of electronic flair to an already high-energy track, giving it that Funky House flair we all crave. Mattei & Omich team up with Mvttie for "All I Know," wonderfully reimagined by Babert in an Italo Extended Remix. The end result captures the quintessence of Funky House—groovy, expressive, and irresistibly danceable. But the playlist isn't just about newly-minted remixes; it also features original masterpieces. Take, for instance, Disco Feelings' "Young Lady." This original mix is a quintessential Funky House tune that'll have you reminiscing about disco's golden era while enjoying contemporary nuances. In contrast, the 1980 Euro-Disco classic "It's A War" by Kano undergoes a transformation at the hands of Purple Disco Machine and Lorenz Rhode, creating a masterpiece that bridges eras of dance music with style. It would be a miss not to mention Sheryl Lee Ralph's classic "In The Evening," revamped by Dr Packer. This remix reimagines the classic with the sensibility of Funky House, while maintaining the soul of the original, turning it into an anthem for modern dance floors. As we experience a taste of fall here in the ATL, there's nothing mixed about this bag of Funky House delights. It's all smooth sailing from here, promising to keep you satiated as we gear up for the next installment of the Fall Edition, featuring big room sounds, tribal beats and circuit anthems. So, go ahead and shake that rump or simply sip a cocktail and nod along—either way, this Funky House compilation is bound to make your weekend fabulous. Until the next time...ENJOY! You will notice that the latest releases 'Break My Soul' by Beyonce and 'Massive' by Drake are included. At the moment, these two mega artists are being credited for the resurgence of House Music when that couldn't be further from reality. The truth is, House Music never went anywhere and has continued to be enjoyed throughout the world's clubs for decades since its introduction in the mid-80s. Like every musical genre — House Music has had its moments of commercial popularity before going back underground and then resurfacing again. House Music was already having a major commercial impact in the UK with the massive remake of the Rufus & Chaka Khan 'Tell Me Something Good' by Scottish DJ Ewan McVicar. At this very moment, 'Afraid To Feel' by LF System is not only topping the Beatport charts but virtually every Spotify dance music list as well as peaking at #2 only being held back by the unexpected resurgence of the 80s alternative hit 'Running Up That Hill' by Kate Bush. As with most musical trends — The UK leads the way followed by Europe and then the rest of the world. Even without Beyonce and Drake entering the fray — House Music was already poised to make a comeback. As such, the first quarter of Beach House starts with some heavier House tunes that are all the rage at the moment. The Dirty Disco remix of 'Break My Soul' is possibly some of the best work the duo has ever laid down. One other bit about BMS that's bothering me is the crediting of the writers for the Robin S classic 'Show Me Love.' BMS uses a standard House Music loop that's been prevalent throughout House Music since the early 90s. SML was originally released in 1990 but it wasn't until 1992 when the Swedish duo StoneBridge remixed it adding the familiar, hook-laden loop that the song blew up across the globe making it an instant House classic. BMS does not sound anything like the song they're giving credit to. It's funny because BMS has more in common with another 90s House Music classic 'Push The Feeling On' as remixed by Marc Kinchen (MK). This is another one of those tracks where the original failed worldwide success until it was remixed going from a Euro-techno track to a House Music Track. Even then, I wouldn't necessarily give songwriting credit to the Nightcrawlers or MK either. In this hyper-lawsuit-driven world where successful artists are frequently sued for infringing on existing work — it's understandable that the label may want to get ahead of it and just give out songwriting credit before people start lawyering up.

However, as time grew short, I had to place this project on hold. With the 4th of July holiday weekend upon us, I found the perfect opportunity to delve into my vast archive of classic mashups and bootlegs, fusing them into an unforgettable 'Summer Throwback Dance Party'. Their tunes have sporadically surfaced on Dance Club, Peak Hour, and Disco House compilations over the years, and acted as a treat for the discerning ear. What binds these tracks together is their shared love for the pulsating rhythm of dance music in all its vibrant forms. You'll discover old melodies reimagined, classic disco or 80s dance tracks seamlessly blended with iconic 90s Hip Hop. The vocals often echo the original artists, though sometimes they introduce a new voice that closely mirrors the original vocalist. While the titles may not instantly ring a bell, the moment you hear them, you'll find yourself saying, "Wait a minute, I know that tune!" While Block & Crown have owned this Funky House Music space for a while, others, including Richard Grey, Softmal, Nari, Lissat, and more, have also carved out their space in the throwback dance party landscape. More recently, Ghostmasters, The Soul Gang, Ghostbusterz, and Disco Gurls have made a noticeable impact. I suspect Nacho Chapado & Ivan Gomez are the creators behind these aliases, sharing these remixed gems via their Guareber Recordings brand. Their focus primarily lies in the realm of 80s dance, with occasional explorations into different eras. In tune with the early summer season, I've curated a playlist of dance classics that are the heartbeat of the 'Summer Throwback Dance Party' - the perfect backdrop for BBQs, family outings, or lazy afternoons by the pool. Spanning from the 60s to now, with a few fresh current songs with a retro feel peppered in, this compilation perfectly captures the essence of old school music. Some are straightforward reimagined classics tailored for today's dance floor, much like our 'Thank God It's Disco' series, but with a broader chronological canvas. Regrettably, some tracks couldn't be included due to their abrupt endings, which posed a challenge for a continuous mix set. Despite this, the 'Summer Throwback Dance Party' has been my constant companion for the past week, promising a timeless party vibe for all. If you're seeking an escape, this set is your ticket to a temporary paradise. It's a veritable sonic feast! Keep an eye out for the forthcoming Beach House series - all the tracks are compiled and ready to launch next week.

The set takes you on a musical journey that could very well mirror a night out in an upscale NYC club. It has a very cosompolitan feel to it. But more than that, it's an audial storytelling experience that binds various eras of dance music into one seamless mix. You'll appreciate the inclusion of tracks that not only get people dancing today but have been doing so for decades. Chemise's "She Can't Love You" is a perfect example. It's an 80s classic reimagined by Purple Disco Machine, showing that good music can transcend time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nqA7uTVjS8 Adding another layer of depth to the episode is Jocelyn Brown with "Pickin Up Promises." For those not in the know, Brown has been a fixture in the music scene since the disco era. Her track's remix by Dr Packer seamlessly bridges Funky House's past and present, reminding us that the genre is rooted in a rich musical history. Then there's "Wish I Didn't Miss You," an Angie Stone classic that's been given a danceable twist. Featuring Tasha LaRae and mixed by DJ Spen and John Morales, the track has been revitalized without losing its emotive core. The episode isn't stuck in the past, though. Contemporary tracks like "What I Want" by Ron Carroll with Aires Adora on vocal duties are just as compelling, showcasing the modern influences that keep Funky House fresh and engaging. So, whether you're a long-time listener or new to the Funky House scene, "All Night Long" offers something for everyone. It's a reminder of why we fell in love with this genre in the first place and why we keep coming back for more. Until the next time...ENJOY! This set had been finished since last week but we had to go back this morning and rework the final transition between the newly released remix of 'Unspeakable Joy' by one of our favorite Divas Kim English to the amazing 'Beginnings' by Don Welch. We had been sitting on that track since August as it dropped too late to get onto our last batch of disco house music. For some of you older folks and/or fans of the group Chicago, this is a nice House remix of their early 70's pop hit by the same name that charted as a double-sided single with the other being the bigger track 'Color My World.' 'Beginnings' in its radio format is a nice pop track featuring the horn section Chicago had become known for but the album version lodges into the group's signature alternative rock-jazz-fusion style that clocks in over 7 minutes. This remix reimagines the track in the world of House Music and it's so well done that it had to be the closer for this set. The song kinda flew past most DJs radars but being the musical connoisseurs that we are — it had to be included. The transition from the Dr Packer Mix of the Kim English classic "Unspeakable Joy" had a cold acapella ending (which we generally like) but it wasn't working in that the beats clashed with the incoming Don Welch track even though they were in the same key. So, some creative tricks were employed to make the transition sound as seamless as possible and it's not something a DJ would do on the fly but in the studio. Our goal is to provide a seamless experience throughout even if it's not something anyone would appreciate but anal retentives like us (i.e. me when I'm talking in 3rd person). This set was intentionally ginormous because it's not clear yet if there will be one final Disco House set by the end of the year (though that's the goal). We've got a massive slate of releases scheduled between now and the end of 2021 so saddle up because it's going to be a wild ride to pack everything in. Until then...ENJOY! Because of an uptick in music selections, Beach House 2021 is one of the more diverse Disco House sets we've done in a while. Beach House 2021 has everything including NuDisco, Classic House, Jackin House, Soulful, and even some Gospel and Reggae thrown in for good measure — with everything sitting on the funky tip. This is one ball of sunshine that should make kicking back around the pool even more carefree. There are some classic Disco samples sprinkled throughout as well as some updated originals. In most cases, the DJs don't use the original titles (for unknown reasons but I can surmise) a few of which will be reprised a bit later with the original titles for the fourth installment of Thank God It's Disco. The set list for the Summer Edition 2021 for our gay circuit boy followers has already been compiled and will be ready to launch by the end of next week. Until then...ENJOY! This set is perfect for your pool parties, picnics, and barbeques with friends, family, or any strangers that stumble into your weekend fun. While there's plenty of Disco in this set, we're also witnessing a re-emergence of the more classic vocal house from the early millennium and a heavy reliance on housed-up versions of early 70s soul music. It's this blending of styles from various decades that's fueling the Disco House craze that's taking over the world. As more people get vaccinated and we begin to slide out of what was likely the direst year of our lives — Disco is just the right genre we need to leave our worries behind and live a carefree life if only for a fleeting moment. I'm truly psyched about where this is all heading and have mapped out your summer of music for you. First, the latest Circuit & Anthems set has been pushed back a week (don't hate on me). This will be our annual circuit Pride Edition and while I have more than enough to fill up the set — I'm waiting on some last-minute drops from some of our favorite DJs. I've decided to refresh the original Gay Anthems series and create the Ultimate Gay Anthems or Pride Classics (I haven't decided on the naming just yet) but just know it's gonna be EPIC! My Gay Anthems For a New Generation folder is filling up fast so I'm ecstatic about that. I also plan on releasing a Gay Pride Tea Dance set later in the month because circuit music isn't everyone's cup of tea and why not have some happy house featuring some of the latest hits and disco classics — then I'll drop the annual Catch-Up featuring the biggest dance club songs of the year so far at the end of the month and just in time for your 4th of July celebrations. I've also started compiling volume 4 of Thank God It's Disco featuring disco classics re-worked for today's dance floors and have that scheduled for July. Of course, we have our annual Beach House, Summer Heat, and Summer Edition dropping in July as well. Meanwhile, August is going to bring us the much-delayed Ultimate Madonna Collection that got pushed back last year due to unforeseen circumstances. As you can see, I've got an ambitious agenda scheduled to keep everyone moving and grooving through the summer months. I hope everyone has an enjoyable Memorial Day weekend. Until the next time...ENJOY! Album: Read For ThisGenre: House, Jackin’ House, NuDisco, Disco HouseYear: 2021Total Time: 03:11:08 1. Discoslap - Lovely (Original Mix) 2. This set kicks off with some powerhouse disco tracks that will burn the house down. It then transitions into more cosmopolitan disco (which appears be the rage at the moment) before moving into some great vocal house with the awesomeness of Kathy Brown, Siedah Garrett, The Fog, and St. Jude before closing out with Mark White's funkalicious "Supreme." The mix is actually my first draft as I usually knock out the mix first and then go back and add/subtracts songs, make edits or move things around for better flow on the final mix. However, I was working on two sets at once and accidentally overwrote this set with the other causing me to lose everything. In the 14-year span of Party Favorz, this has only happened once before. After listening to this set a few times — I can honestly say that I'm happy with the first draft. I have a special Diva Hall of Fame inductee scheduled to drop for tomorrow. This diva's induction is long overdue and is only for hardcore fans (like myself) which honors this woman's tireless work in the music industry. More on that tomorrow. Until then...ENJOY! Frankly, there are so many samples tightly woven in these tracks (often more than one used in a single song) that it's hard to keep up. There are obvious ones like "When Love Is Over," which samples "Holding On (When Love Is Over}" by L.T.D. "I Wanna Feel" is a clear lift of "He's the Greatest Dancer" by the Nile Rogers produced Sister Sledge while "The Groove Cycle" could by any song by Roger's own disco band Chic with its familiar guitar work. DJ Mark Brickman's "Got Myself Together" is a reworking of the Brass Construction classic "Movin" from 1976. Then you have the obvious remakes such as the 90's Adeva house classic "In & Out Of My Life," Soul Avengerz and Krysten Cummings re-work the Aretha Franklin classic "R-E-S-P-E-CT" and Block & Crown remake the Al Green soul classic "Let's Stay Together" with Jeff Roberts performing the vocal duties. The latter begs the question as to why no one has reworked the Tina Turner version of this song. It's practically begging for a soulful house rework. Another obvious rework here is the Gino Soccio #1 disco classic "Dancer" by DJ Mark Brickman and Venessa Jackson. Then you have the combos like Crazibiza's "My Lips," which mashes "Don't Call Me Baby" by Madison Avenue with Aretha Franklin and C + C Music Factory gay anthem "Pride (A Deeper Love)" an unlikely pairing that just works. Block & Crown gets in on this game by mashing "Pump Up the Jam" by Technotronic featuring Felly with "Stomp" by Brothers Johnson.. Indeed, there are so many samples contained here some are barely recognizable while others don't bother hiding their appreciation for the originals. It does prove that today's DJs are not just appropriating long lost works (some of these samples are really rare) but honoring all those that came before. It also shows that mom and dad's (in many cases grandma's) music was actually pretty damn good. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Jason Walker has honored us with two fantastic new songs "All To You," which has fabulous remixes by the legendary David Morales and Georgia Porgie as well as "Stronger" with DJ extraordinaire Quentin Harris that has two sets of remixes accompanying its release. These songs are some of Jason's strongest work and I'm happy to see that he's continuing to gift us with his amazing voice. I'll let y'all figure out the rest of the sampling contained within this set or instead of racking your brain — just sit back, get down to the funky sound and ENJOY!
