We had a great week in Bariloche, from hiking and biking to eating WAY too much chocolate, there was something for everyone. If you're planning to be in Bariloche, then here's my suggestions for how to spend 5 days with teens/older kids. If you would like to ask specific questions, have an idea for the show, or just want to say hi, send me an email or head to Instagram and give us a follow. Links to places I talked about in the show: Rent e-bikes here, you must be 14+ for this place. Rent bikes here. Make sure you take your passport when you get the bikes. You gotta eat at Patagonia Brewing! This place would be a great activity if you don't/can't bike. You can either hike up the hill, about 30-45 minutes, or take the cable car. Check out this episode to hear about how we created our own chocolate tour. This chocolate shop has an ice rink! This is where we went to go on some hikes. Just take bus 20 to the end, walk along the road to the entrance, and you'll see a map of trails you can pick from. We went down to the lake! The escape room was definitely a highlight of the week for all of us. Whenever you're ready for some pretty yummy fondue, head to Fondue Club Bariloche.

First things first: let's define "skill learning"-- this means that you are going to go somewhere in the world with the intention of learning from someone or something. Have you ever gone somewhere to learn a new skill? I'd love to hear from you! Send me an email.
Our family had such a fun day with Turkish Arts while in Istanbul. Learning what Ebru is (Water marble painting) and spending some time enjoying this art was a very cool and relaxing afternoon for the 6 of us. I also give you 3 (albeit basic) ideas for what you can do with the papers after your day here. Have you ever done Ebru? Email me and let me know! Also, while we don't do much on Instagram, you're always welcome to check us out there!

If your family is planning to spend any time in Cartagena, Colombia, then one thing you'll see is the beach! Sadly though, the beaches in the main city are not wonderful, but that doesn't mean you can't find a way to have a fantastic day at the beach while you're there! Enter-Amare Beach Club! We had the chance to spend all day at this relaxing and fun beach club on Isla Bomba, and I'm here to give you all the details! I hope that on your adventures you get the chance to check out Amare, just make sure you tell Pablo that Marissa says "Hi!" PLEASE NOTE: The audio on this episode isn't my best. There was a huge Central America rainstorm and the sounds of the rain and wind come through. Sorry guys!
In this episode I am going to give you the inside scoop about our money! And I hold nothing back. :) If you have ever questioned how much money a family needs to live this way, I hope this episode gives you a good look into how our family of 6 manages money and plans for the future. Also, if you know a way to help us lower our monthly ATM fees PLEASE send me an email with your thoughts.
Living from 1 country to another is amazing, and one of the things we had to think about early on was the sourvenirs we would be collecting from each country. In this episode I talk about what we do, and I give some ideas for what your family can do to manage this part of travel. I'd love to hear what your family does for keepsakes! Send me an email and let me know.

In our house in the United States we had a fireproof safe that we kept all the important documents in. So, when we started traveling, and when we realized this was a long-term lifestyle for us, we got rid of most of our stuff, expect that safe, it's no at Eric's parents house. But, what do we do with the documents that we want to travel with. Why would we treat them as unimportant and just have them in a drawer? This folder is fireproof, waterproof and big enough to hold all the important documents you want to have with you as you're traveling around this amazing world. Also, the app LastPass is what we use to keep digital information safe. Have a document you always travel with? Email me and let me know!
Have you ever wanted to travel with someone who isn't a traveler? Have YOU yourself not traveled much, but want to see a new part of this world? Then this is the episode for you! I'm giving you 7 reasons why London, England is my go-to place to tell new travelers to visit. In this episode I talk about this episode: Episode 7, Best Way to Plan a Trip I also talk about the fact that I offer consulting for trip planning. I also do this this for almost anything Nomad Family Related, if you'd like to learn more about that, just email me!
In the previous episode I talked about the Otorongo Amazon River lodge and how great it was. If you are looking for an Amazon adventure, this is your place. In this episode I'll share with you some must take items to make your time in the jungle just as memorable and, just maybe, a little more comfortable. I would love to connect with you! Either shot me an email, or go over to Instagram and send me a message.
We spent about 9 days in the Amazon Jungle in Peru, and it was amazing. This episode is all about the lodge that we chose to stay at, it's called Otorongo Amazon River Lodge, and we recommend them 100%. The episode will give you a general overview of the lodge, the schedule and how it works, but if you have specific questions, please message me on Instagram and I'll be happy to talk in more detail. Just for the record, we paided for this trip, so everything I say is my real opinion. :)
In this episode I (Marissa) will being talking with my oldest son, Martin, about facing fears. As a nomad kid he has had the opportunity to do things that he wouldn't have had if we lived a rooted life in the USA. And sometimes those opportunities do challenge him to face fears. This is a great episode to listen to WITH your kids becuase we believe that the more we can connect our kids with other TCKs (third culture kids) the better. Make sure your subsribed to the podcast! That's the best way to make sure you hear every episode. Also, feel free to follow us on Instagram.
Watching the kids overcome their fears and the physical limitations that they thought they had was amazing! We knew that this adventure at Treetopia Park would be fun and challenging, but we were not prepared for how proud we would be of the kids when we got in the van after climbing 5 monster trees in the cloud forest of Costa Rica. Want to experience this for yourself? Check out Treetopia Park to book your own amazing tree climbing adventure. Do you follow us on Instagram? You should! Also, if you haven't checked out our website yet, you can here.
The former Nazi Concentration and Extermination camp is a very well known location in Poland. And while it is a very overwhelming place to visit, we felt it was a very important place to go as a family to help our kids learn lessons from this painful part of history. But, this is a choice that each family needs to make based on their kids and family make up. If you are curious about what visiting this hallowed ground with kids was like for us, and you want some ideas and input into what you can do to prepare your family for this experience, I will do my best to approach this topic with as much sensitivity as this location is entitled to. This is the guide that we used for our visit to the camp. Have you been to Auschwitz-Birkenau as a family? Want to share your experience? Email me and tell me your thoughts.
In this series we will be talking about ways to create a home faster, easier, and cheaper. Each episode will focus on 1 aspect of moving into a new space and what we can do to make this more systemized so nothing gets overlooked or takes too long. Get your Settling In Guide that goes along with this series. This episode is focused on LEAVING! What needs to happen so that you leave the space in as good, if not better, shape than when you got there? I believe that leaving a long-term stay is very important because many hosts have negative views on long-term stays, and if I leave a space poorly that host might beside to stop doing long-term stays altogether! This is very bad for the long-term traveling family community. So, as a way to keep the reputation of long-term travelers positive, let's leave well! The Settling In Guide will allow you to have 1 document that you use over and over in each new space to turn each new place into a home. It also helps you think through each new space to save you money in the long-run as a full time traveler. This guide will become your go-to resource each time you pack up and settle in to a new space because it will hold your first few meal ideas for any country, a shopping list for the first time at the grocery store, important questions to ask about your new home city, and much more. I was able to create this Settling In Guide based on 7 countries on 4 continents. After turning numerous houses into a home for my family, I know that I can help you do this faster, easier, and cheaper than if you did it without this resource. Opening the guide in GoodNotes will very easy allow you to write on it, then erase the answers and fill it in again and again for each new home you have!

This episode will go into detail about all that and more! The Settling In Guide will allow you to have 1 document that you use over and over in each new space to turn each new place into a home. Get your Settling In Guide that goes along with this series. This episode is focused on those first meals that you plan to make when you get settled in. These need to be easy, fast, and use ingredients that are available universally in whatever part of the world you're in. If you plan to be in Europe for 6 months, then create and use the list for what's available there. When we move to South East Asia, maybe you'll have to create a different list because the groceries are different or you plan to eat out 95% of the time. That's totally ok! But then when you get to Australia, you need a list again...see how this works. That's the amazing thing about this life, it changes greatly place to place. So this particular list will reflect that. The Settling In Guide will allow you to have 1 document that you use over and over in each new space to turn each new place into a home.
