Description
The Music List Podcast takes a recipe for entertainment- a hotly debated musical topic, three siblings who love to argue, and open mics, and then tosses them into a mixing bowl. Shake up the bowl, and fireworks happen. The goal is to take a musical question such as greatest voice in a genre, best album during a decade, or best song by a group and create a master list to answer that question. The real battle begins when the siblings have to agree on the top five. Join Heather, Ben, and Beth, as they tackle the topics, the facts, and each other to make the definitive Music Lists.

The NFL draft is one of the great non-sporting events that's still a sporting event on the face of the planet. Teams do research on hundreds of players to get exactly the right fit for their team. With the draft right around the corner, someone needs to bring that same draft energy to music. Enter The Music List. The siblings are taking the draft to a whole new level in this episode. It's not enough to just pick the best or the worst or the songs that fit a category. In this episode, they're building a band. They have to have all the components- guitar, vocals, bass, drums, lyricists...and a sound that is cohesive and makes sense. How would Ozzy pair up with Brian Wilson? Meh? Key him up with a thrasher guitar player, and then you're business. After the dust settles, help the siblings determine....who built the best band?
Whether or not you're a basketball fan, or if your team is still one of the 16 teams remaining, the NCAA tournament for basketball is one of the great sporting events of the year. The siblings are all Arkansas Razorback fans, so they're excited that the Hogs are back in the Sweet 16. But even if they weren't, the podcast would still be celebrating this event with some great music. We're debating what the best songs are that are about basketball, are associated with basketball, or just happen to mention in it in passing. If you have a March Madness watch party, you need to listen to us first so you can set your playlist. We promise, it's a slam dunk!
You don't have to be Irish to enjoy St. Patrick's Day. You don't need green beer, leprechauns, shamrocks, or buckets of gold at the end of a rainbow. What you do need is some great music. To celebrate St. Patrick's Day in 2026, the siblings fought and clawed and researched some of the best Irish musicians (and some that have strong Irish heritage), and put together the definitive list of the best Irish musicians of all time. The list includes everything from monster arena bands to alternative powerhouses to choral groups to foundational metal bands. Join The Music List podcast so that U2 can be in on the fun. (See what we did there?)
With so much drama in the LBC...I mean, NFL, it's kind of hard not to talk about one of the most premier live performances that occur each other. We're talking Super Bowl Halftime shows and with 60 0f them now in the books, we have a strong list of contenders for which halftime shows are the most iconic. Bands, musical icons, and groups, wardrobe malfunctions, and top of the line production make for a ton of iconic shows and moments. But which one reigns supreme? Join The Music List Podcast with a special guest as they rank the most iconic shows and moments in Super Bowl halftime history.
Valentine's Day certainly has its detractors. Whether or not you believe it's a made up holiday spurred by capitalism and the greeting card and chocolate industries, it nevertheless is a day for sweethearts. And it just so happens that one of The Music List's hosts, Heather, is married to the show's producer, Shaun. Both are rockers that have a soft spot for songs and their meanings. In this special Valentine's Day episode, we share a playlist of songs that have special meaning to The Music List host and producer. It will be sentimental. It will be heartfelt. But most importantly it's definitely going to rock.
In this episode, the siblings tackle the Best Family Bands- acts build on bloodlines, not just talent. Though, genetics being what they are, talent, like apples, doesn't seem to fall far from the tree. Using The Music List's signature draft and debate format, we argue which bloodline ties that played together truly earned their legacy. The only rule? The musical act must have at least two members in it that are blood relatives. Mother and daughter, father and son, siblings, or even cousins. Shared blood means they're eligible for drafting. We discuss siblings' blood harmony, its effects on the music, and how shared DNA contributes to greatness. Of course, you can expect hot takes, humorous moments, and fierce arguments as siblings debate...other siblings. Join us and decide for yourself which family-based musical acts should earn top billing on The Music List!

Few hall of fames seem to have the controversy as the Rock Hall. Every year, new inductees make music fans scratch their heads while those that are snubbed for another year make those same fans shake their fist. The Rock Hall has complicated matters by broadening their inductees beyond rock artists. R&B acts, pop stars, and country artists are getting the red carpet treatment while some rock and roll legends are on the outside looking in. These frightening episodic programs can't lure you in with rainbows and unicorns. No, they set the stage with some of the eeriest, mood-setting music the entertainment industry has ever known. For Halloween this year, the siblings take on the long history of television and the scary. Together, they provide for you, the spookiest, scariest, eeriest of television themes. Listen in to this episode of The Music List...if you dare.

From Sabbath’s heavy beginnings to Ozzy’s solo anthems, they debate which songs truly define the man, the myth, the madman. Tune in as sparks fly and amps roar… it will take an Iron Man to survive these debates, but fear not...even though we're discussing the Prince of Darkness, there will be no more tears, and laughter and smiles will rule the day. This is the Very Best of Ozzy Osbourne!
While the United States is the undisputed birthplace of rock and roll, the Brits have put together a collection of some of the greatest bands in the history of popular music. In fact, if you made a Mount Rushmore of the greatest rock bands of all time and all four bands came from Great Britain, that argument would likely hold water. With legendary bands like The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Queen, Deep Purple, the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd....you get the picture...drafting only nine and then eliminating four to create a top five is a tough job that requires a lot of knowledge and strong opinions. Luckily, the siblings of The Music List are here to do exactly that. And boy, do the fireworks fly like New Year's Day at the London Eye. Is there a surprise number 1? And will it cause a sibling war that makes 1776 look like a game of patty-cake? Join the siblings for this hotly-debated episode of The Music List as they provide the definitive list of the Best British Rock Bands of all time!
