The crypto market has again been in the news because of a few bad actors and the crash of a major cryptocurrency exchange (FTX) filing for bankruptcy. The blockchain unlocks the ability for businesses and non-profits to use digital assets...aka NFTs. These NFTs can be used for Tickets, Passes, Memberships, Coupons, and Collectibles. Learn more about how NFTs can be used as each in this episode.

In this episode Sean unpacks two main ways (with some additional thoughts) that businesses and non-profits can use cryptocurrency.
Scams are something to be aware of on the internet. Just like we have not learned not to click on links from strangers sending us emails to avoid phishing scams we need to learn ways to avoid scams in web3. That's what Sean covers in this week's episode.
There's a lot of ways that scammers and hackers are trying to steal NFTs and crypto. One way we can keep ours safe is with different wallets. In this episode Sean talks about 5 wallets we can create and use in different ways to keep our crypto and NFTs safe.
Why do websites in web3, NFTs, and crypto ask you to connect your wallet? There's four main reasons and you can learn about each one in this weeks episode.
Rug pull is a slang term mostly used for "scam" in the web3 space. But not always. Listen to this episode of web3 simplified to learn: What does rug pull mean? How do people us the term rug pull? The four types of rug pulls. How to classify a rug pull into 4 different categories.
Wagmi, wgmi, and ngmi are all slang terms used in the web3 space by people who trade NFTs, are building crypto projects, and are regularly active. But what do those even mean and why do people use them? That's what Sean answers and talks about (plus more) in this episode of the web3 Simplified Podcast.
An airdrop is when someone or some organization sends you a cryptocurrency or NFT for free. But why would anyone get an airdrop? In this episode of the podcast Sean answers the following questions: What is an airdrop? What’s something I can compare an airdrop to so I can better understand it? Why would someone do an airdrop? Why would I receive an airdrop? How would I send an airdrop? How do I receive an airdrop? Can I stop other people from “airdropping” me an NFT or coin?

Businesses and non-profits have started to use and have been started with NFTs being sold in the last 2-3 years.  Most of the time these NFTs are being sold as a part of a collection.  Owning one gets you access to a course, private community, investor group, or something else that is gated by the token you buy.  But what does the NFT sales process look like? How would someone or an organization go from "I don't have an NFT collection" to "I have one up and for sale?" What does the Harvard Logo have to do with NFT profile pictures?  In this episode of the Web3 Simplified Podcast, Sean is joined by Carroll Keane from Coolfire Studios and Reformers (a Web3 incubator community) to talk about how Web3 tech is being used to create communities. When you're walking through the airport and you see a logo from a school and/or team that you support, you feel an instant connection to that person.  PFP (profile picture) NFTs have become popular in the last two years and they act like that logo.  People change their profile picture on Twitter to the NFT they own and when scrolling through their feed or in Twitter Spaces they can easily identify who is in the community with them.  That's on the surface.  Underneath there's more to community.  Vision, mission, and values are all a part of the conversation between Carroll and Sean. POAP: Stands for Proof of Attendance Protocol NFT: Stands for Non-fungible Token So what is a POAP NFT exactly? Think about it like this:  When you attend a conference a lot of times you get a printed card on a lanyard. If that conference was memorable you save the lanyard. Because it has your name on it and is from a one-time event (that's the only conference with that name happening on those dates and at that time in history) it makes that lanyard unique.  A POAP NFT is a lot like that. It's a digital image that is traceable through the blockchain. It's given out by the organizer(s) of an event only to people who attend that event. Now POAPs can be given away for other reasons (non-event related) but this is what they were created for. A POAP NFT is supposed to replace the commemorative ticket you keep from a concert or football game.  Imagine going to the Super Bowl and your team winning. If you have a ticket from that event. You might put it in a frame and keep it.  That's what a POAP NFT is designed to be.  In this episode Sean explains more and gives a few examples for how the POAP NFTs can be used once they are given out. An oversimplified version of the blockchain: it's a digital record-keeping system through the internet. This digital record-keeping system keeps track of monetary exchanges (crypto transactions) and other digital assets (NFTs). If we want the blockchain of our choice to keep track of records and transactions, we need to have our own "account" like a bank account. We can also think of it like a mailing address. If we want someone to send us something, we need a mailing address for the blockchain to use. Groups of people and organizations have created (somewhat) simple and easy ways for us to keep track of these accounts / mailing addresses so that we can use the blockchain - a web3 wallet.  In this episode Sean covers more of:  What is a web3 wallet Why you need one Some of the more popular web3 wallets   To see and hear some of the resources that Sean shares, visit https://www.web3simplified.xyz/shownotes To learn how to create a wallet, load it with cryptocurrency, mint or buy an NFT, and more buy the course NFTs simplified. Artists, individuals, influencers, creators, non-profits, businesses, and DAOs are all starting to pay attention to web3 and NFTs because of their ability to make money with them. How do you make money with NFTs though? Sean shares 7 ways to make money with NFTs in this episode and goes deeper into each one.  Here are the seven ways:  Flipping them for a profit Creating them and selling them Holding them and receiving an "airdrop" of another NFT, cryptocurrency, or something else Buying an NFT and gaining access to networking Buying the NFT and "staking" it Creating and selling merchandise based on the NFT art itself Using the NFT for something else  To learn more about each one, listen to the episode.  To see and hear some of the resources that Sean shares, visit https://www.web3simplified.xyz/shownotes  To learn how to create a wallet, load it with cryptocurrency, mint or buy an NFT, and more buy the course NFTs simplified. NFTs are a new technology that is made possible by the blockchain and have hit the news in the past few months. About 15,000 people just finished attending a conference and parties across New York City at NFTNYC and the whole conference revolved around NFTs.  But what are they? What is an NFT? Why do people buy them? NFTs are more than pictures of bored monkeys wearing clothes. If you're wondering what is an NFT this episode is for you. Sean goes in depth to give you a simplified explanation of NFTs and also gives you 3 reasons people are buying them. If you're wondering why are people buying NFTs then this episode is also for you.
